Harley, when I was 13 I spent a couple of weeks visiting my great aunt who owned a worm farm near Dixon, California. It was 1953. I went with her twice a week when she delivered the containers of red worms to Sporting Goods stores throughout northern California. She fed the worms ground Black Walnut meal which was delivered in 55-gallon drums. The worms thrived.
Idk what my favorite food for my worms is yet, I just put my first group into my first ever worm bed! I sure hope I can get it right and keep them happy and healthy!
Aw man stumbled on your channel!! I miss my worms from az. Haven’t set one up yet out here in sc but you may have inspired me again!! Keep it up brotha!
This time of year I have an abundance of cucumbers coming out of the garden, so I make a lot of cucumber water (cucumber puréed in filtered water and strained, add a pinch of salt, a little sweetener, and juice of lime). I get a refreshing beverage and my worms love the discarded pulp.
I feed my worms many different things. food scraps, biochar, compost, hot wing bones, coffee grinds but rarely, and dry food consisting of alfalfa hay, oats, powdered eggshells, comfrey, and most recently azomite.
My worms are getting lots of shredded papers and cardboard in the old hanging planter soils with the dried plants roots for bedding and food with lots of kitchen scraps and items we forgot about in the fridge as well as coffee grounds mixed in also some leaves from the trees 🌳 in our yard... I'm going to see how well they like pine cones since our yard is full of them from the fall... Has anyone else tried giving their worms pine cones? 🤔
My daughter cleaned out her a cupboard of all out dated food had her keep it just wondering if they can eat cheese soup beans other things is there some things that I can't give them

Love the story about how it was done back in the day. Thanks for sharing!
I make “worm salsa” for my worms with garden veggies. I freeze it to feed them this winter. Hopefully they will appreciate it when it’s cold outside 😂
Nice! you’re a great worm parent! What’s in your worm 💃salsa?😂
Mine love leafy vegetables, banana peels, and ground oats served on a cardboard platter.

Thank you for sharing your cucumber drink recipe. I had to try it, and it was very delicious, and I see now why the worms enjoy it.😂

I am a fruit carving artist. The worms love the watermelons, papayas, cantaloupes, and winter squash.

My worms seemed to like any veggie peel as long as I chopped them first, stored them up in a freezer bag, then thawed them
My worms really like cooked oatmeal. I have a part time job as a morning dishwasher. I get lots of leftover oatmeal. Worms really like it.

I could really use some red wigglers
Buy from Colorado worm company. I buy the castings and it comes with a bunch of them in a cubic ft. It's 100 bucks
Mine loves watermelon and avocado. It’s a newer worm bin so I haven’t tried giving them a ton of new foods yet.
Wouldn't salty products be a huge hard no for worms? Won't that harm them?
My daughter cleaned out her a cupboard of all out dated food had her keep it just wondering if they can eat cheese soup beans other things is there some things that I can't give them
It should be fine in moderation maybe not the whole can at once.
Right now, I’m loving bananas.
Alfalfa hay, great for the worms and plants. I also put my mushroom trimmings.
Good video, what variety is it? It is the red California variety.
It is the Eisenia fetida or the red wigglers aka red worm.
