The dress looks gorgeous on you and even though the fabric wasn‘t exactly what you wanted and it doesn‘t drape as you wanted it to, it still suits the style of dress very well i think, also when I first saw your fabric choice and how shiny it was I immediately loved it
I do love your “is it worth it” videos. I have so many fabric sensitivities that I have to either make my own or wear a cotton union suit underneath (sooo flattering 😂) I think it’s important to remember that time is valuable … and sometimes we need a reminder
What about a lovely fully silk or linen/cotton/rayon slip? I have a silk white slip that is so pure it feels like it clears my skin, the air, and my thoughts...Immediately I thought people with severe allergies/extreme sensitivities could wear it under everything; if you like I can look up the brand for you I bought a vintage one. I have hyper sensitivity but I actually prefer satin cause you can machine wash it and there's no fear of staining. Not all silk is made the same tho, in fact, most isn't great (imo). There are also hypoallergenic undergarments that specialize in hypoallergenic cotton, who usually make long sleeves. P.s. union suits r cute.
@@samaraisnt thanks. Yes, I can wear cotton, silk, rayon and some nylon. Unfortunately, linen itches. Such a bummer. Ready to wear is problematic because even if the fabric is a fiber I can tolerate, the stitching is often polyester thread. I break out in a rash along the seam lines. It’s bizarre
I just love how honest you are about what goes wrong add well as telling us about what has gone right! It really helps me to learn whilst still enjoying watching. This came out beautifully and I can't wait to see the next one! 🖤
Ah I’m glad it’s helpful! I feel like I’d be deceiving everyone if I didn’t also talk about the stuff I did wrong so I’m glad it’s not just me rambling haha
The gentle lifting of Baby Bat's tail to cut the fabric.🤣 It's so pretty though. The glitter is evil, but beauty demands sacrifices... Controversial opinion: companies can price their items however they like as it's their right, while our right as consumers is to agree or to say, "yeah, no". Plus the price is both objective (materials, labor, rent, ads, whatever) and subjective (is it worth for you personally?), and the answer is often very different for everyone. And sure, in theory you can make or find the dress cheaper, but it's either a labor or quality compromise. It is what it is. I personally wouldn't spend this much money simply because I wouldn't wear the dress enough, but it is worth it and it's frustrating to see the demands to sell it for the fraction of a price. Try making it and see why things are the way they are. Sigh.
I agree for most part! it does ultimately come down to the company to decide, especially when the maker is also the seller, but I think it’s unethical for these giant companies to price their goods so low based on their willingness to use exploitative labor bc it prices out companies who do want to pay ethical prices and skews what consumers think is a reasonable price. Idk I think we’re pretty much getting to the same point in practice tho 😅
To my untrained eye, your version fits much better, and I like the way the skirt hangs. Even the uneven ruffle has its charms. Also, asmr and cat. Many charms to this video.
The fabric is absolutely gorgeous! The dress is lovely. I remember making a very long gown with chiffon for a friend (Serenity) and for years I thought I had measured it wrong because the hem was uneven! Then I learnt about skirts on the bias 😅
Ah thank you! Aah serenity! I love her design, I did one of her designs once when I started cosplaying but I def want to try her again 😊 lol I always forget hems get wavy until it happens to me again 😅
Thank you for doing this video! My daughter is wanting to wear the Selkie Ritz dress as the Maid of Honor at her sisters wedding, and I was a little taken back by the price. After watching your video, it helped me understand that the dress is in fact worth the price. The dress looks stunning on you….Thank you again!
I'm absolutely in love with how comfy Baby Bat was in this, she just didn't want to get off the fabric! I love that she just let you lift up her tail to cut around her, that was so sweet, and demonstrates how completely comfortable she is around you and how much she trusts you and it just warms my heart. I loved hearing you talk about how the fabric affects the movement and drape, and I would really enjoy hearing more about that. I feel like it might be fun to make a very simple blouse a couple of times in a few different fabrics to talk about how they behave. I feel that I would enjoy watching that. (And there would be a multitude of cute blouses in different colours, and that is never a bad thing.)
thank you for watching! baby bat used to be such a skittish kitten too! it's amazing how much she's grown 😊💕 that's a good idea about the blouse! ill add it to my list of videos I want to make in the future
The fabric looks stunning even if it's less floaty than the Venus dress. With Baby Bat on top it looks really magical. Can't wait for your next series.
I LOVE how long your videos are. i've noticed myself struggling to focus more than usual in the past couple years and i feel it's because short form content is so popular. but i never realise how long i spend watching your videos until they're over, and i want to watch more! your creations and the way you talk are satisfying and inspiring, and i also can never get enough of seeing your cats
ah wow thank you so much, this is so nice of you to say! I definitely feel you on struggling to focus with media becoming shorter and shorter, I'm so glad my videos are interesting enough to keep your focus tho! also always appreciate the cat love haha
this is my favourite channel at the moment i love how you do series for a project but each video stands on its own well too -- and apart from your impressive sewing skills i really enjoy your videography and editing!! i always get inspired to work on my own projects after watching your videos ☺ i think this dress turned out beautifully and that fabric!! ethereal 💕✨
This looks amazing! Can't wait for your interpretation of a Bridgerton dress. I'm much more on board with it now since the second season. Your style and thought process are both so unique and beautiful, and you take time to make things decadent with all the appliques/beading/embossing that you've done previously. I can't wait to see your unique style interpreted through the Bridgerton lense!
i haven't seen the second season yet! i'm very excited for it but I'm in the middle of watching the great and i can't stop watching that one it's fascinating haha
"that's a problem for future minjee" oh mood! and when i future me finally got around to doing it i had to re-do pretty much the entire thing the dress looks really pretty! the fabric might not be what you hoped of it, but it still looks really nice with the golden shiny bits!
Such a pretty dress! Despite the problems with the fabric and other things you're unsatisfied with, the results are damn impressive! I really like how you break down the pros and cons of your final projects. This was such a fun series! Excellent work!
Ah thank you! Haha mostly I feel like it would be deceptive not to talk about the cons 😅 I want sewing to feel accessible to everyone and show that everyone makes mistakes!
I have been eagerly anticipating this ever since you first announced you were going to make one! Your version turned out beautiful, I love the fabric choice! And thank you for all of the Cat Tax 💜
I love your reminder that the first time trying a new pattern is always gonna be a bit meh, slower, with things that need tweaking -- even if you're a professional. I went to college for sewing, and sometimes I get frustrated at myself like "I know how to do this!" Yeah, I know how to sew. But I don't know how to sew THIS pattern when it's my first time through. It's ok for it to be more awkward.
Sorry to Selkie but I like your dress the best of the three, and tbh I thought the wavy hemline was kind of in keeping with the vibe of the fabric and general whimsy. Great series! My only suggestion is to show more footage of the completed garment, I feel like a lot of sewing youtubers sort of speed through the end portion and I get that it’s mostly a making video but I would love to see more of the beautiful end product! I was also wondering if you would ever consider selling your pattern(s)? I have no idea how copyright with this stuff works but I was really impressed to see how closely you were able to recreate the dress! Thanks for the series! Would definitely watch a similar set of videos in the future!
Haha thank you that’s very nice of you to say 😊 I definitely wanted to show more and I’m really trying to show more in my reveals! This time was kind of hard bc I was in DC for cherry blossoms with friends and I felt bad taking away from the group time filming the reveal 😅 also I always feel like The balance of too long and boring and short but still interesting is something I’m still trying to capture correctly! I want to eventually have a patreon where I can share my patterns and I think that should get me around any copyrights 😅 tho I don’t think you can copyright clothing anyways? Idk lol
Seeing the fabric, I completly understand why you wanted it. The dress is so pretty and dreamy. Now I want one too! So with my speed, I'll be done at the end of summer :') I love how your video's are inspiring me to make things
I binged watched some of your videos and now I’m a new sub! Not only are your videos informative but also calming when I’m feeling stressed. Thank you!
It was really interesting to hear how many hours you spent making the dress! Watching all these youtube video's where the making of a garment is boiled down to a 20-minute video makes it hard sometimes to realize that better sewers than me still spend hours making something... Plus it helps me learn to make realistic estimates because I usually have no idea how long something will take me :P I also really like the final dress! I understand why you bought the fabric, I love the little stars on it! The bias thing with circle skirts is so annoying though... I always want to just finish the hem and be done, and then I have to be patient and let it hang fist...
Yes definitely can be super misleading seeing all the sewing compressed into such a short time! I always used to get really jealous that other people seemed to crank out projects so quickly but realized eventually that they’re probably working on it quite a bit without ever doing updates, and then it just seems fast when they do update
Absolutely stunning! Someone else has probably said this already, but the term for the way the cups didn't quite fit is "the gore doesn't tack". The center part of a bra is the gore, and it's supposed to lay flat on the sternum, or tack to the body. And the more you know (waves hand over a rainbow)
I love this type of video, I think this is essential nowadays as prices of clothes are so low and people don’t necessarily know what goes into making clothes you hear many complain when, with like this dress, the price is ‘so’ high when in fact it’s just what it should be if everyone gets a good pay, so I would say keep making these videos as well as their very informative and let’s people know that in fact this dress is worth this price due to the labour while showing the amount of work that goes into it. Loved it and the dress turned out beautiful. Also I like this as I make garments and want to sell them however when I calculate how much they should sell for I cringe because like this it’s around 350-400 for an embroidered pinafore with a petticoat and so I don’t dare sell them when in fact this video says sell it for what it’s worth and what you deserve to get paid rather than underpay yourself to compete with other stores.
@@moth.faerie precisely but then I also feel rude to say ‘it’s expensive’ cuz u feel as though I’m saying ‘it’s out of your price range’ instead of these prices aren’t what your used to on the high street and I’ll look like a twat for pricing it so high which isn’t high for what I’m doing 😂 so I feel like the loser in all situations
Don't hate on yourself and the dress. It's lovely. You learned a lot. Now you have things you want to keep improving on. Plus it's shiny. You can complain about 12 yards of rolled hems though. That's totally fair. 😉
I love how this came out, I know the fabric is not quite what you hoped but gosh it's lovely and sparkly! I'm a sucker for that. Really enjoyed this series 😊
This is so beautiful! I'm in love with your lemons shirt!!! I learn so much watching and I love that you use these things as learning experiences! I can't wait to see more fun projects!
I just discovered your channel with your video reviewing the selkie dress and I love it! I like watching videos about costuming and your sewing videos are very relaxing. Although I've been quite obsessed with selkie dresses and matoshi dresses (I still can't get the strawberry dress out of my mind!!), and so your in-depth reviews about these dresses have been absolute gold for me! Thank you for making such detailed videos. Also, your cats! 💜💜💜 Basically I love your channel 🤩
Thanks for another great video :) I really enjoyed the whole series and the dress turned out beautiful! I really like your reflections afterwards about what could have been improved and the most difficult parts of the sewing process; I find it really informative. I've made a few evening gowns and cursed myself every time working with slippery chiffons or satins and it really makes you appreciate the work that goes into those dresses. Really nice that you now have the pattern tested and you could easily make shorter more wearable everyday dresses with it. Looking forward to the other projects in this style! ❤😊
I love all of your videos, you are truly an amazing seamstress and it's always so amazing and therapeutic to watch you sew and solve problems you encounter. Here's to hoping I'll find some time to make one of these gowns myself, this turned out so beautiful! :]
It is a beautiful dress and I am a fan of the kind of softer floppy sleeves. Very romantic looking. Its too bad the fabric had issues for you because it looks absolutely beautiful.
Hi there, thanks for making the dress. Really great. I would suggest an adjustable stand to cut the bias sections to make them even. Would also suggest inexpensive netting for the sleeves, make it more puffy. Interesting trend. Have a eighties pattern with a princess seam rather than cups, just needs different sleeves. I do like the fabric. I would make the dress again. It’s worth it.
Thank you for watching! If I didn’t have the ruffle on there would definitely have trimmed it on the stand but I am absolutely not reattaching this ruffle so maybe I’ll take it up at the waist sometime 😅
Exactly what my cat does when I’m trying to make something. She also commandeers my sewing chair & makes an almighty fuss when I have to make her move.
The fabric you chose is so cute! Shame it wasn't exactly what you were expecting, but it looks great regardless. I hope this isn't too forward, but I've watched quite a few of your videos recently and would love to see a wardrobe tour. The flowy and frilly tops, dungerees and dresses, embroidered cardigans and jumpers are all so lovely. It would be interesting to find out where you get your style inspiration and which pieces are handmade like the green dress and hobbit skirts/pinafores.
definitely not too forward, i'd love to do a wardrobe tour sometime! it'll take some thinking on how to organize it tho haha I have way too many clothes 😅
This is a peachy 🍑👑princess dream dress you look exquisite thank you for sharing your gifts 🎁 I really do love the ruffle it’s beautiful and I love seeing you twirl and spin 🙌❤️🙌
I made a selkie dress out of some thrifted bed sheets (mix of cotton and bamboo) and honestly came out pretty good I ended up making it a bit too big but thankfully I just needed to shorten the bodice panels and all was well plus was far cheaper then buying the amount of fabric I would have needed
It's so pretty! You did an amazing job. Also, who here has time to drape a fabric when you could just sew now? I, at least don't believe I've ever has the patience to wait for the bias to to stretch.
@@moth.faerie Seriously! Especially with what you're doing, all these weekly projects has got to be quite the commitment. Currently I'm working on a project with a tight deadline as well... Totally not stressed at all. 🙃🙃🙃
At this point.. after binging your videos all weekend. I must give a compliment! Your vibes are excellent 💕 also i love how articulate you are. You made me dream (an actual dream) of making a corset! I have some dark blue velvet that neeeds upcycling. Aso i just wanna be your friend lol sorry im rambling. Lots of love ❤️
@@GrowYourGroceries i don't but it's a goal for this year or next! i'm still getting a handle on time management with just youtube but hopefully once i get that figured out i can start a patreon
Not sure if you've seen some of Jolly Retro's clothing. I just found the website last night while looking for selkie style dresses and was happy with some of the pieces they have for the price.
Amazing turnout of the finished dress. I'm actually cutting a commercial pattern while watching this. I hope to get better at patterning, as I've only done a tank top and sweatshirt. Someday. 😄
@@moth.faerie That would help 😅. I've just come back to sewing after a very long hiatus, just lost all my motivation for it for a long time. Getting back into the swing now though (took me two hours to cut out pattern pieces today 🤦) Oh and I meant to say in my first comment I'd love to see you study one of Nour and The Merchant's dresses!!! 💖
do you think a double circle skirt with 2x waist gathering would get you the right skirt sweep? or would that be overkill? (i'm all for overkill when it comes to extra-floofy skirts!) looking forward to a pretty cotton version! :)
I actually went back and looked at my original dress after I made this to see if I’d messed up the number of circle skirts, but it’s definitely just one each layer, that said tho I think it would still make a nice skirt! It should have definitely been at least a 2x gather tho 😅
I *love* the look of this fabric. So cute. I would love to see you turn this into a peaked-style bodice (1860s-style?) or try it with a wide, peaked belt (Edwardian period, I think?), since that would create a visual slimming effect? Maybe that's just me? @A@ 10/10 love this dress though, it turned out gorgeous.
I think I had about 3-4 yards left over and I ended up doing a third circle skirt instead of a lining so that probably took up another 2 yards, so minus that about 11 yards?
"Big dress" problems...yep. 'bout halfway through: "why am I doing this? I hate this & I'm never doing this again!"...then, on to the next "big dress" 😲
As a lolita, I'd love to see you analyze a major lolita Brand dress - and they can be found on the second hand market so you wouldn't necessarily have to pay retail.
I loved watching this video and your pattern making video. I'm out here trying to save money and also make clothes that FIT ME and this is part of my education. What is that gold piping tool you used? It looked like you were using it to insert the elastic?
I just got a puff gown! I’ll do a video on it in the future but my brief review is that the sizing seems to run larger than the ritz, and it’s going to take some work steaming it to make it lay flatter in the front. As far as commissions I don’t really like taking commissions 😅 but I may do some MTO if I get enough interest 😊
The dress came out so cute!!!! And the fabric looks really nice even if it's not what you expected/wanted Btw, do you think the puff dress would be a little less work??? Because I'm in the process of making a pattern inspired by it and now i'm kinda scared xD I chose that one because it looked simpler than the Ritz Gown and it fits my style better but maybe i should readjust my expectations regarding how long it's going to take to make it...
yes I definitely think it would take less work - the bodice is mostly a tube from what I can see and not having that extra ruffle to sew on will cut a lot of the time!
I've never seen the foot that you switched out for on your sewing machine before! Do you mind letting me know what it's called and what it's best used for?
@@moth.faerie I guess it must've been the search terms I was using (there are a bunch of sellers that sell the same stuff, but none of them looked quite like what you used) but I think I found what you used lol Thanks!
the metallic foil sheds A LOT and probably won't last a wash in the machine, I washed mine in the shower and it's already pretty bare under the arms where the sleeve rubbed against the bodice
I don't understand why you think it's worth it. these dresses are not fair trade. The person you are buying them from is a rockstar who has sold out and can't sew not a couture designer. These dresses are produced for a low cost over seas. You're creation is gorgeous and the price that they are charging would be a fair price to pay to you the person that made the dress. But why should a consumer pay a designer devaluing foreign labor. That's not worth it. At all.

Also I like this as I make garments and want to sell them however when I calculate how much they should sell for I cringe because like this it’s around 350-400 for an embroidered pinafore with a petticoat and so I don’t dare sell them when in fact this video says sell it for what it’s worth and what you deserve to get paid rather than underpay yourself to compete with other stores.
yeah i absolutely feel that, whenever people ask if I'd ever do commissions I get very shy about it bc I know I'd want to cost more than is expected 😅
Really enjoyed this series 😊
thank you!
I wish you'd shown some more clips (perhaps just a repeat) of you twirling in the dress in the end, so we could enjoy more of it's lovely floofiness
I love your lemon blouse 😍😍😍😍
The end result looks like a really fun dress to wear and the fabric is super pretty!
thank you! i love cute fruit themed clothes haha
💜💜💜 Basically I love your channel 🤩
aw thank you so much!
So pretty and so elegant in that tree.
Thank you!
Yes please to more of these! I loved this series
That dress is IT.
thank you!
I'd love to see a Teuta Matoshi series!
haha i'd love to do one, though i'd have to save up for a bit before I can afford her stuff 😅
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you found it informative sometimes I feel like I’m just rambling haha
I love all of your videos, you are truly an amazing seamstress and it's always so amazing and therapeutic to watch you sew and solve problems you encounter. Here's to hoping I'll find some time to make one of these gowns myself, this turned out so beautiful! :]
thank you so much you're so sweet!
The fabric looks amazing! Loved the final product ❤
Thank you!
I love this video series! I would like to watch you make more patterns from your favorite premade clothes. (like Pants, shirts etc)
I’ll definitely do one showing how to do darts In the future so there’s at least one more coming 😊
Obsessed with this series - so informative and aesthetically pleasing. I've subscribed and am eagerly awaiting your next videos!
ah yes - the feeling of wanting the pretty big skirts VS hating sewing up the big skirts in the moment ; - ; but the end result is SO lovely!!
literally already planning my next big dress bc apparently i love suffering
It is a beautiful dress and I am a fan of the kind of softer floppy sleeves. Very romantic looking. Its too bad the fabric had issues for you because it looks absolutely beautiful.
Amaaaaazing result! I love this fabric
Thank you!
Also, I see why you risked this fabric because is super pretty!
@@moth.faerie I would fix it, well worth it. I did look at some of the other dresses on the Silkie range. It’s a nice idea, interesting trend.
OH MY DOG!! I LOVE it!!!!
Thank you!
Exactly what my cat does when I’m trying to make something. She also commandeers my sewing chair & makes an almighty fuss when I have to make her move.
I loved this series and the shots were beautifully shot. I want to make a selkie dress now.
Thank you! You totally should!
Absolutely love your videos! I can't believe I'm only now finding your channel! You're amazing and you've got yourself a new fan :3
thank you!
it turned out amazing!
Thank you!
Pretty dress!
That fabric thoughhhhhhhh 😭😍😱 can’t find it anywhere
This is a peachy 🍑👑princess dream dress you look exquisite thank you for sharing your gifts 🎁 I really do love the ruffle it’s beautiful and I love seeing you twirl and spin 🙌❤️🙌
Ah thank you!
Immediately subscribed! This is incredible!!
It's so pretty! You did an amazing job. Also, who here has time to drape a fabric when you could just sew now? I, at least don't believe I've ever has the patience to wait for the bias to to stretch.
Thank you! Haha right like rn I’m working on within a week deadlines I don’t have time to let things just sit and do NOTHING
Lots of love ❤️
aah thank you so much, you're so sweet! yesss do it. make a corset, tag me on ig if you post about it! i'd love to be friends!
I really love and appreciate this series and the strawberry dress o e you did. Please do more! :)
Thank you! I definitely have more brands on my list to review and analyze just uhh gotta make some more money
@@moth.faerie lol I feel you on that front! Do you have a patreon set up yet?
@@GrowYourGroceries i don't but it's a goal for this year or next! i'm still getting a handle on time management with just youtube but hopefully once i get that figured out i can start a patreon
Not sure if you've seen some of Jolly Retro's clothing. I just found the website last night while looking for selkie style dresses and was happy with some of the pieces they have for the price.
The trouble is they're based in China, and China is NOTORIOUS for worker's right's violations
I’ve never heard of them, I’ll look into it!
@@moth.faerie I'm so sorry! Jolly vintage**** not jolly retro.
Amazing turnout of the finished dress. I'm actually cutting a commercial pattern while watching this. I hope to get better at patterning, as I've only done a tank top and sweatshirt. Someday. 😄
thank you! it's 100% practice, the more you do it the more you'll be able to recognize how all the shapes go together without a commercial pattern!
This is so beautiful! I know you know about basting...but I love basting so i don't get absolutely MAULED by my own projects lol
Thank you haha I usually just baste the zipper and live on the edge with the rest 😅
It's so amazing that you can make this for yourself. I'm currently trying to make a cami style top & it's not going well. 😅
ah thanks! it's just a lot of practice, I went to school for sewing and I've been doing it a while. Don't worry, you'll get there!
@@moth.faerie That would help 😅. I've just come back to sewing after a very long hiatus, just lost all my motivation for it for a long time. Getting back into the swing now though (took me two hours to cut out pattern pieces today 🤦)
Oh and I meant to say in my first comment I'd love to see you study one of Nour and The Merchant's dresses!!! 💖
@@reginafinan2819 i've been dying to buy one of their dresses for ages!! once i save up some money again i think they'll be my next purchase!
@@moth.faerie I'm in utter love with their Leannan Sidhe dress! It's so divine in a fairytale/ethereal way.
do you think a double circle skirt with 2x waist gathering would get you the right skirt sweep? or would that be overkill?
(i'm all for overkill when it comes to extra-floofy skirts!) looking forward to a pretty cotton version! :)
I actually went back and looked at my original dress after I made this to see if I’d messed up the number of circle skirts, but it’s definitely just one each layer, that said tho I think it would still make a nice skirt! It should have definitely been at least a 2x gather tho 😅
@@moth.faerie thank you!!
I am loving this video series, you did a brilliant job!! How much fabric did you end up using for this dress? It’s so amazing :)
I think I had about 3-4 yards left over and I ended up doing a third circle skirt instead of a lining so that probably took up another 2 yards, so minus that about 11 yards?
Thankyou!!!! I need to make one of these now..l I’m soooo obsessed lol 😂
"Big dress" problems...yep. 'bout halfway through: "why am I doing this? I hate this & I'm never doing this again!"...then, on to the next "big dress" 😲
lol literally every time
As a lolita, I'd love to see you analyze a major lolita Brand dress - and they can be found on the second hand market so you wouldn't necessarily have to pay retail.
I have a lot of lolita friends! Maybe I can borrow one from them 😊
LOVE how you did this dress. I have to ask, where did you find that stunning fabric, and what kind of material do you use?
I loved watching this video and your pattern making video. I'm out here trying to save money and also make clothes that FIT ME and this is part of my education. What is that gold piping tool you used? It looked like you were using it to insert the elastic?
it's called a fasturn, i got mine on ebay
What was the presser foot you installed at about 3:40?
It’s fantastic!
Thank you!
I would love to see the puff gown and your opinions on it. Also, would you ever consider doing commisions on stays? Since you enjoy the make of them.
@@moth.faerie Awesome. Thanks.
Where did you buy your fabric?
How much was it per yard?
The dress came out so cute!!!! And the fabric looks really nice even if it's not what you expected/wanted
Btw, do you think the puff dress would be a little less work??? Because I'm in the process of making a pattern inspired by it and now i'm kinda scared xD I chose that one because it looked simpler than the Ritz Gown and it fits my style better but maybe i should readjust my expectations regarding how long it's going to take to make it...
yes I definitely think it would take less work - the bodice is mostly a tube from what I can see and not having that extra ruffle to sew on will cut a lot of the time!
Baby Bat = 10/10 fabric weight
best fabric weight
What feet did you use? What size hem foot?
I've never seen the foot that you switched out for on your sewing machine before! Do you mind letting me know what it's called and what it's best used for?
it's a rolled hem foot and its used for narrow hems, i was using it to hem the sleeve and hem ruffles 😊
@@moth.faerie thank you!! I'm definitely going to see if I can find one for my machine now!
What kind of sewing machine do you use? ❤
What is your loop turner kit called ? I’ve been trying to find it online 😭😭😭
It’s called a fasturn, I got mine on eBay!
I think the fabric looks great! Do you remember the seller? I think it'll work for a future project of mine
there were a ton of sellers if you search for star organza fabric
@@moth.faerie I guess it must've been the search terms I was using (there are a bunch of sellers that sell the same stuff, but none of them looked quite like what you used) but I think I found what you used lol Thanks!
I recognized the fabric from etsy before you said so. I was wondering if you had any issues with it because I was thinking of using a different color.
the metallic foil sheds A LOT and probably won't last a wash in the machine, I washed mine in the shower and it's already pretty bare under the arms where the sleeve rubbed against the bodice
Im currently working on my own Selkie gown but its more 1850s because I shoved my crinoline underneath and its now so poofy!
Please give me this dress, I don't have any dresses, please 💔❤🩹
I don't understand why you think it's worth it. these dresses are not fair trade. The person you are buying them from is a rockstar who has sold out and can't sew not a couture designer. These dresses are produced for a low cost over seas.
You're creation is gorgeous and the price that they are charging would be a fair price to pay to you the person that made the dress. But why should a consumer pay a designer devaluing foreign labor. That's not worth it. At all.
