    Salesman: No...

    You should have started a 65,000 he'd prob come back with no so you go $66,000 and then say that's all you got so you seem despite...so on so fourth...
    Lesson of this story is DONT TAKE "NO" FOR A ANSWER! cmon strad...

      Yup, when i was 19, i bought my car in cash like that to and same shit happened to me. Learned my lesson, you hold the cash, you make the decisions. They don't want to hold on to those cars. I bet if he said ill give you 62k or im out, they would prob have done that too lmfao.

    • @borjastick
      @borjastick 6 лет назад +11

      Yep, the game of negotiation is being prepared to walk away from the table. Make an offer and if it's not accepted tell him you will keep the offer live for two hours or the money goes back in the bank.

      @garyaustin6400 6 лет назад +2

      Totally agree. I would av started the bid off at 65k An probly would av then walked away with 1-2k cash and the r8 but either way atleast he has it now so good luck to him 👍

    • @chrisnunya2001
      @chrisnunya2001 6 лет назад +6

      Never take "No" for an answer and never tell them at the beginning the most you will offer because that's what they are wanting the most they can get out of you. That car didn't cost them 69K they probably made 10K off of you. They definitely could have taken 66 or 67 for it they won't want too but they would if you threatened to walk away. I got about 4 K off asking price when I bought my last car and that's after I threatened to walk away it's amazing what they'll accept when YOU won't go any higher they are the ones who need to sell the car more than you need to buy it.

  • @yourbuddykevin
    @yourbuddykevin 6 лет назад +313

      That dealer does not negotiate. Shopped there a few times and my first time I walked out. They followed up but still didn’t negotiate. A week went buy and the car I wanted sold. They got another xjr in and I ended up getting it later. They rarely budge but the cars they sell are spotless. Their clientele is so large they could care less if you walk.

    You need to think about your negotiation technique. Too fast to counter when you got shut down at 66K. You had 68K in a backpack... you needed to show it and then walk it out of the showroom, then let him explain to his boss how he let you walk away. When you get the call, then YOU control the deal. Negotiation means nothing if you are not prepared to walk away from a deal and not look back.

    I have a feeling he got an automatic because he's in the process of beginning his exotic car rental company. It's easier for clients to drive an auto, which would prompt the need for it over a manual.
    It would also explain why he purchased it outright, instead of financing it (unless he got approved for a loan that big). I don't think insurance would cover a business lean like that.

    Disclaimer for younger impressionable viewers out there: Don’t drop 68 grand cash on a depreciating asset if you can avoid it. Even if your cash flow is quite positive, a smart move is to keep as much as you can to have available for investments, savings, opportunities etc. In reality, the R8 is an investment for The Stradman as it will bring viewers to his channel and make him money. Just something to keep in mind.

      Depends. Audi, in general, is a super high-quality car brand. The Lambo might be faster, but when it comes to actual comfort, safety and driving it conveniently the Audi is superior. The R8, in particular, is a PHENOMENAL car. Its super fast, it's beautiful, but its super comfy, safe, feels high quality while not being over the top as the Lambo might be when driving the streets. For me, it's the better pick overall.

    What I don’t understand is that, from the start of this guy’s videos’-he has lived in an apartment the entire time and made at least $375,000 off of his RUclips videos, and drives mostly everywhere. I am not necessarily going to assume, but why would you spend $68K on an old R8, and you’re still living in an apartment? For $68K, you can literally purchase a small house, build a 5-6 car garage and also, purchase several acres. Not sure if this car is like your first flip to sell or something, but dude, if this is for you to enjoy personally, you should buy a house before a car. I think that makes a lot of sense. It makes sense to have a home first, honestly.

      Not necessarily. Personally when I sell a vehicle the price I list is the price I expect. It is already the lowest I’m willing to take. If people walk away oh well. If it sits a few months oh well. On the flip side if someone buys a vehicle from me it is in perfect mechanical condition. It could be driven anywhere in town or cross country. Sure someone could walk away and find the same car cheaper but they will not have all the maintenance records or other proof of work performed.

      It's not often the Strad has a douche moment, pretty humble dude. But that was, even though he struggled through it.

      Did you see their inventory? Pretty sure they seen more cash than that before by other customers so to them it isn't impressive.

      its a testament to how truly geeky he is, not a wolf, nor shark whatsover, yet we watch, which pays for his lifestyle.
      in this IT era, the geeks rule. the wolves, sharks, bulls, bears, etc. are looking to geeks and algorithms for progression.
      im somewhere in the middle, part geek, now part former black-market wolf, trying to find my way, mix the wolf code w/ the geek platforms.

    As soon as you left the dealership, IRS and the Treasury Department are haunting you to see where you got the money and WHY you didn't give a Cashier's Check!

      How do we really know he paid 68k? He could have paid less OR paid 68 inclusive of fees and taxes, so in effect it's a decent price. And finally, the price is worth Whatever the buyer is willing to pay. Everybody is full of BS; if u were the seller wouldn't u want a lower price for your product, ?!?!?

      sometimes people forget about sales tax and title/doc fees...sales tax on 66k would turn into 70k. so 66 out the door is actually paying 62k for it. guess it all depends on the dealer mark up. I work in car sales and most of the times we make our money when we acquire a vehicle.
