Simon, thank you so much for posting this video for those of us who couldn't make it to the exhibition. I am glad they had the picture of John there, nice way to honor his huge contribution to the hobby.
Thanks so much Simon for doing this video for all those like me who couldn't make it there in person. Mudlarkers are a special breed - so interesting and interested, so in tune with the mud and history.
Thank you so much Simon! I’m thrilled to be able to see such comprehensive coverage of the exhibition after catching snippets on Facebook and Instagram. Just makes me want to take a trip to the UK even more and get my hands and wellies into some Thames mud 😍
Really a magnificent exhibition - when seen altogether like this you can really see that you mudlarks have made an astonishingly large contribution to the antiquities of Britain, sort of what archeologists dream of finding in a dig- you find by luck and chance on a river stroll! Back in the day when I was much younger I used to do the same here in America but as you know, we aren't "quite" as old as Britain in depositing current items as future treasures for others to find along our rivers and it is glorious therefore to see them found along yours! Great job really and a lovely professional level exhibition!
Yaaay! A wonderful tour! Could not be there but this was second best. So many wonderful things to see. I appreciate how you paused over plaques to be read later. Very considerate of you. A museum and slide show would be fantastic. It is needed. Obviously, from the amount of guests seen in your video , people are quite interested. Also glad to see your work there, hope all sold well. Thank you so very much Simon, this was awesome.
Thank you for this Simon...as a Brit in Australia I miss the Thames and all it offers so much. You've enabled me to share the exhibition I would have loved to attend.
Wow. Kudos to Flo and the whole mudlarking community for putting together (and pulling off) such an amazing exhibition. And great thanks to you for recording it and bringing us all along! Well done all around.
Good grief! Simon that was absolutely stunning, thank you so much for the guided tour and thank you to all those great people who loaned their treasures and stories, and to the organisers for their brilliant work. I'm sat here hyperventilating, trying to pull myself together getting ready for another viewing this evening, pause button at the ready. Just so much to read and examine carefully. You sir, are star!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking me to the whole exhibition! Such a robust event -- art, sciences, performance, slime, adventure, treasure, history, memoir... even a mathematician got in on the fun. I particularly enjoyed the mudlark bios/collections and the scientific/biological explanation of tidal mud colors.
cool video of a great show, thanks for taking us along, Simon, and especially thanks for taking your time at each vitrine and not racing through! well done, Flo, she must be proud. Someday would love to see a video of all your artwork Simon (maybe one cold day this winter when you can't get down to the foreshore). Now it's time for a second viewing with my trusty pause button at the ready!!
Wow!! Thanks so much for that amazing guided tour for those of us who were unable to attend. Great job!! So fascinating and exciting!! Hope one day there will be a museum for the Thames treasures. Thanks again for sharing. ❤
Amazing! You did a wonderful job of showing us the exhibition, so very interesting and educational! I was hoping a video would be done and here it is...thank you! Love your channel! ...take care!
Simon, I love the show! So wonderful to have so many mudlarks showing their finds and the importance of the mudlarks. The art work is stunning. I have 2 garnets about the same size as the ones the little girl found. I also have numerous trade beads, as I do beadwork and have a love of the old beads, handmade and with such a story. So happy to see all my favorite larks being honored there. So proud of all of you!
Such a great video, Si! I will be revisiting to freeze-frame my way to reading all the content you kindly took pictures. Thanks so much for visiting on "our" behalf!
Si-finds thank you for going this with a camera it is just amazing. The passion for what they have done and are doing is a delight to see. always waiting to see what you find next
Very interesting and informative. I would love to see it in person, but this was the next best thing. Love your site. Definitely going to look up the other mudlarkers on RUclips. Thanks for the tour!
I figured Flo would be behind this, she always seems so so smart and i have the biggest crush, what a unique event, i would love to go to something like this but seeing it here is the next best.
Thank you so much, I find this so fascinating and you do such a great job showing and explaining as well as letting others explain what they do and why they do it.
Well done Simon! Thank you for the virtual tour for those of us here in the US who couldn't attend. I found the Neolithic artifacts especially interesting, as that type of thing along with Hudson Bay artifacts are the targets of our hunts. I have long thought that stone age artifacts should be present in the Thames
Simply, Wow! Excellent coverage of the show with your filming Simon. So wish I could have seen it in person. But the film is the next best thing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you from Australia. Totally enjoyed the expedition and it felt like I was there. You did well and many thanks. Congratulations to Flo for arranging/helping Such an exciting informative and well presented expedition. 😁😁
A great tour. It made me think how the things in the river are almost inexhaustible - although they must be finite at some point. Nicola must have spent days setting up and taking down her display. I wish I could have seen it in person. Great work, Si.
Can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed watching the video (put it up on my TV for a better view). I was so disappointed not to be able to go to the exhibition myself but you did a fantastic job of giving all of us a great view of it. Can’t thank you enough!
Oh my gosh. What a wonderful museum. And I did not have to fly 10+ hours to London to look! So many of the people I follow on Twitter, and RUclips, Facebook and Instagram. I love it! So much to see and learn. Thank you so much Simon.
Si, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Such a fantastic tribute to all the mudlarks. I have enjoyed this video so much! You were so thorough and it felt like I was right there! It was great to see and get to know a little about all your fellow larkers and view all their amazing treasures. The idea of a museum is fantastic! Please keep us updated on that. I'm living in the U.S., but do hope to one day visit and hopefully do a little mudlarking of my own. Thanks again.
Thank you so much Si! Feel so privileged to get a guided tour. I was meant to go to the exhibition but in the end didn’t make it so this makes up for the disappointment! Seeing all the finds en masse really made me think of the historical importance of mudlarking. The exhibition was put together in such an imaginative and interactive way too. I’m so excited by the prospect of the museum! That really would be amazing!
Thank you so much Si for giving us a tour. Have seen many of you mudlarkers mentioning this special event and was hoping someone would take time to show us foreigners around. You did a fabulous job and it was almost like seeing it in person. I have watched your posts for a long time and very seldom leave a comment on anyone's channel but felt I had to say thank you from across the pond. Keep up the good work!
Simon, this was by far the most impressive video that you’ve posted on RUclips. I’ve saved it for future reference. I am amazed at the amount of antiquities that are at the fingertips of mudlarkers in London.Thank you so much for taking the time and utilizing your expertise in videotaping this wonderful event! DOUG
Thanks for the very informative video of the exhibition. You mudlarks are surely saving a lot of invaluable history! There should be a petition started in support of the Thames Museum, I would sign it!
Thank you, Si! That was incredible! Beautiful collection of historical items. Flo did a great job! I had the best job on campus at Uni. I worked in a decorative arts museum. Most of this would fit in well!
It's nice to see mudlarking getting public exposure and respect. Prior to finding a video by Nicola White in my notifications, I'd never heard of mudlarking. I'd only heard the word "mudlark" as a kind of bird. Watching Nicola's videos, led to me watching & subscribing to yours, and then later to me watching & subbing to those of Chill Bill's and Nuggetnoggin's, and a couple of others. Now, mudlarking videos are some of my favorite things to watch.
As usual Si, a great an such informative video. I'd love to visit one day, most likely when I'm old and grey, and do a stint at the foreshore. You and your many friends have done the world a great look into history. Thank you so much.
Hi Si, It is great to see the exhibition.I would definitely attend it if I was there. I live on the other side of the world, Perth, Western Australia, where I "mudlark"along Cottesloe beach. Of course the items I find have nowhere near the same vintage as those of the Thames foreshore. I find Gopros, flippers, masks, sunglasses(hundreds), watches, coins, fishing weights and lures, surfboard fins, turtle shell, whale baleen, small plastic toys, just to name a few of the things. Each item has a story behind it. The Gopros are like bottles with messages in them. I have managed to return some of the Gopros via social media to their surprised owners. With mudlarking being outside experiencing nature is half the fun. I have a RUclips video "Cottesloe Fish".
@@Sifinds Yes, if ever you are here, I'm not hard to find. Winter after a big storm is best. In summer searching is best done snorkelling. I'm a perpetual "treasure" hunter whether it be fossils, crystals, sea shells, orchids or sea dragons. Most of the time my trophies are images. i'm quiet happy to show you and your viewers the ropes.
Si, Si, Si the Thames finds history guide. Bravo lad, a damn fine video of the exhibition that I could no way attend from Washington State! Thank you for the tour. You are doing a great job. You gave kind credit to your friends. Blessings
Wooow !! It's an amazing job you did guys...absolutely stunning !! I wonder how much this exhibit did cost to be orgnized (in term of time and money) ?? Thankyou so much for sharing 🤗
That was a PHENOMENAL video! Of all those amazing finds on display, believe it or not,my favorite was a little jaw harp,it barely saw camera time, but I loved seeing it.
I have re-visited this video,as I am6 days away from a mudlarking journey of my own. I paused the video to read the plaques of all of your fellow mudlarks, including yourself. I do hope we can meet up,I know that you will be very busy with the rally in Cornwall, but maybe after that. If not,I shall return, hopefully next year or year after.
When I went to England with my husband, I toured the Royal Armoury in Leeds while he worked. I would love to see a Thames Foreshore Museum showing all the Mudlarking finds and history if/when I go back (post-COVID, of course!).

Thank you so much for spending time on each of the placards detailing the Mudlarkers themselves. Very interesting characters.
From an exLondoner who couldn’t get back to London for the exhibition, thank you! 🙏
Si -- Flo -- Nicola -- and the rest of you amazing historians and adventurers -- thank you!!!
Thank you so much Simon! I’m thrilled to be able to see such comprehensive coverage of the exhibition after catching snippets on Facebook and Instagram. Just makes me want to take a trip to the UK even more and get my hands and wellies into some Thames mud 😍
Tracey Bradshaw Thanks Tracey! That’s a lot of blood, sweat, tears and years of hunting, as you can imagine
The museum has amazing finds and art. Just wonderful.
Really a magnificent exhibition - when seen altogether like this you can really see that you mudlarks have made an astonishingly large contribution to the antiquities of Britain, sort of what archeologists dream of finding in a dig- you find by luck and chance on a river stroll! Coni Torres Thanks Coni, it was a fantastic weekend!!!
Thank you for letting us get such a detailed tour of the exhibit! Living in Canada, this is the only way for me to get to see it so close.
Thank you so much!
What an amazing experience to see history wrenched from vanished lives to be brought to the present and enjoyed and valued by current lives. Love it!
