    Bolting the tongs together--good tip. I just had one of those, "Why didn't I think of that?" moments.

      I don't think we've ever shared this tip before, but it's really a lifesaver on some occasions! Thanks, bwhip! -Samantha

    What are the size working size range for your quick and rapid tongs? Been eyeing several pair for weeks going back and forth, gonna need to jump on it soon.

    I have a few of your tongs and they aren’t pretty like when you make them but they work great. I had some v bit tongs the biggest set you sell and I did not get the cut even so I just built both sides up with my mig welder and called it good! Ha love these tongs. I need to disassemble my scroll tongs and re work them because I didn’t spend enough time and they are basically half finished oops. Good thing they use the same size rivet that I always use so I can make a new rivet in my rivet header. I don’t remember if you explained it but why do you I drill the hole for the rivet? I’ve always found it’s easier to punch the hole than drill it.

    I just ordered some. I sure wish mine came out looking as good as yours. They hold the metal fine but don't quite have the aesthetics yours do.

    could the scrolling tongs be forged this way?

    • @KjZiturKensCustomIron
      @KjZiturKensCustomIron  3 года назад

      I am sure you could forge them this way. Keep in mind that there is less material in the scroll tongs.

    Stupid sounding question... I have a little propane forge, and when working some mild steel for “tutorial work” (i.e. leaves to learn hammer and tong control) I seem to lose heat SO much faster. Is it just air movement since I’m doing most of the work near the face of the garage? Type/grade of steel? One advantage to coal forges I didn’t see at first is the ability to heat a specific part of a piece without heating the whole thing with heat blow-by. Gosh this is a neat hobby.

      Hi Richard! Is your gas forge further away from your anvil as your coal forge? Is it getting as hot as your coal forge? And yes, it is easier to localize a heat in a coal forge than in most gas forges!
