We live in southeast Pennsylvania and we drive to the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey every summer for vacation. I have 3 kids and I swear we need another vehicle to bring the food with us. They have recently built a Walmart on the drive in and now we wait until we get there to do shopping. Can't wait till July! It's so nice to get away!!
We love Broken Bow too! A nice 3 ish hour drive from Dallas. My husband and I go every year around Thanksgiving with our three daughters, our sons in laws and 4 grandchildren and rent a really big “cabin”. Back when we started going years ago, my daughters were newly weds. There’s always the conflict for them of doing holidays at the in laws, so we decided to do this for our Thanksgiving and set them free to go to the in-laws. There’s less outdoorsy stuff to do at that time of year but having a campfire and cooking hot dogs is the big deal and it’s usually pretty chilly. 😂we do Pringles for a treat then too, good tip about the chocolate striped cookies too.
Hi, Barb! We went at Thanksgiving this year with my husband's family, and it was fabulous! We lucked out and got some good weather, so could still do a little hiking. I'm with you, I would be happy just hanging out at the house, on the porch or around the fire pit at night!

I totally hear you on going back to the same time-share/airbnb spot that you know your family fully enjoys! When my kids were still in middle/HS we discovered the Wyndham hotel on the beach on Daytona. You can get incredible deals on Ebay if you aren't a timeshare member!!! The ocean-side suites are just incredible, full kitchen stocked with dishes, pots-pans, etc. Ocean-side large balcony with view from the kitchen!! The pool area (two pools) is right in front of the beach, and the boardwalk has a small amuzement park, arcade, etc. Plus the hotel is connected to an indoor/outdoor mini mall with lots of shops, restaurants, etc. There is also a water park right across the street. So other than doing a grocery run after we arrive, we rarely get the car out again for the entire week. You can do/rent all kinds of things all over Daytona if you do want to get out, such a fun city to explore. We were able to rent a 2-bedroom ocean-front suite for $279 for a WEEK the day after Thanksgiving a few years ago. I also splurged one year and rented the presidential suite in late March (4bedrm, 4 bath, 1800 sf, double-wide balcony) for my extended family -- got it on Ebay for $1,800 for the WEEK. If you split that between two couples, that's only $900 for an entire week. There are two master suites, and the two 'spare' bedrooms have two double beds in each room.
Yep! We feel like this spot is a sure thing and it’s very laid back. I love not having to plan out a bunch of activities. Our only complaint is we tend to travel using CC points and we can’t do that with this type of trip.
A lot of the houses have that look and feel, it's nice. We just missed the "pretty" part of the spring. All the trees will be budding and it will all be green in another few weeks!

This is a fun treat video for sure!! I think you hit all of my family's must haves. My son would pick sour cream and onion pringles, doritos and cinnamon mini doughnuts as his main vacation food groups. Normally we make homemade popcorn and my son loves microwave popcorn which he only gets a few times a year. He also loves Cheez Its and Goldfish which I do get him normally at home so those are other favorites. I am the only one that likes the black jelly beans but I love them!!

We love the cabins in Hochatown/Broken Bow. We went for Spring Break a couple of weeks ago, too. That was probably our 10th or 12th time there. We're in Frisco so it's only about a 3 hour drive.

Our numbers have gone way down here in OK as they have been pretty aggressively rolling out the vaccine. This was a fairly safe vacation for us since we didn’t go out to restaurants, limited our contact with others, and stuck to outdoors activities. 😊

@@lavendersky4324 my husband and I have received our vaccine and nearly 40% of our state is fully vaccinated already. We have seen a huge decline in cases over the past few months. By “eat out” I meant take out, which we brought back to our cabin each night for dinner.
Do you have a link to the cabin y’all stayed in? We love going to broken bow! Perks that there is a casino there 😂 But that cabin is awesome with the hot tub! We are going to Sardis Lake for Easter weekend since the kids have a 4 day weekend but we are staying in our RV :)
Black licorice/jelly beans are supposedly good for you IF there is real licorice oil used, but ewwww, the taste, even if it cures cancer that's a nope from me, lol.
