"We won pretty easy because of Fury Swipes" is definitely something not a single person has ever said before.
I have. It's actual really good on a physical attacker. Yes it's definately luck based but when it pops off boy does it work.
Maybe in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon because multi-hit moves are broken in those games.

So, Hail doesn't actually buff Ice type moves, it only guarantees Blizzard will hit
I was searching this comment. It is also useful to activate Beartic and Vanilluxe abilities, something he could have given more credits
It also doesn't do anything to buff ice type pokemon, though some abilities benefit from the hail.
basically weather that does damage does not buff moves of the same type. the only exception is due to ability's not the weather itself.
Wasnt there a move in 1 of the spinoff games that does actually gets a power buff in the Hail or am I misremebering?

The Brick Break TM can be found in Iccirus City (where the Ice Gym is) in Pokemon Black and the Rock Slide TM can be found in Iccirus City...at least that's coverage. Just letting you know for future Pokemon Black runs. Oh and Shadow Claw TM can be found in Celestial Tower! That would've helped against the Caitlin and Shauntal.
Dig or Bulldoze would have been nice to have aswell. With Ice, Fighting, Geound and Ghost moves, you hit everyting for atleast neutral damage.
He should look up the locations of important TMs before starting a run.
Had an idea. A team of fail. Basically, any time you have lost a challenge, I know its rare, but its happened, form a team of that lineup, or at least a couple of them, and try it this time. Maybe even balance it out with pokemon who SUCKED early but rocked late, teamed with ones that ruled early but got smushed in late game. *EDIT* Just editing in to cover my own fail. This was a great video and a lot of fun to watch, as are pretty much all your vids, merry christmas and enjoy the time off!
I did not expect the naming scheme to be the freaking three wise men but the Chrono Trigger line is what tipped me off lol, still haven't finished the run but great video so far as usual!
Coming back after listening to the outro- I've been listening since I wanna say the Wobbuffet video, and you're still one of my favorite channels on youtube. It really is good to hear that you still love doing it after all these years, and that everything seems to be going so well for you in real life despite the challenges you've been facing. Chrono Trigger is still the greatest rpg ever.
I completely forgot that Chrono Trigger used them for a theme too; I knew that the "original source material" was the Bible but my first thought was Neon Genesis Evangelion, not Chrono Trigger.
Weird parasocial stuff aside, you're the only RUclipsr I follow that I feel like I could hang out with and genuinely have a blast. I know you're having fun and it makes me smile, even when I'm having a bad day. That outro really warmed my heart and was an awesome Christmas present.

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm glad you were able to do a Christmas challenge this year. You should do a Thanksgiving one where you only play as food Pokémon.
I mean... 92% of pokemon could be considered "food" pokemon. Maybe not ghost types but honestly where do you think the sandwich ingredients in pokemon Violet/Scarlett come from?
I would say specifically pokemon who have Pokédex entries that say they are eaten by people/pokemon

There was an old Christmas play that our church did when I was a kid. There was a song called "What Shall We Name the Baby?". It was about the Wise Man named Casper. He was late though... So when he sang "let's name him Casper". Everyone was like "What a Disaster".. I did find one instance of the song on RUclips.

Merry Christmas MDB! I lurk a lot, but I really love your stuff even several years later (I think the first vid I saw was the Gen 1 Rattata challenge shortly after it came out). You're genuinely a blast to watch and I thrive off the energy and love you pour into everything you do. It's a shame you haven't been able to do as many videos with WhattaGeek and GooseIt. Still eagerly waiting for the day the other Nancy Drew playthroughs can happen (by the way if you haven't seen the Nancy Drew Shadow of Waters Edge playthrough you need to watch it, it's pure gold).

I don't comment often but been around since one of those original 3 Pokemon Challenges. I think it was the Magikarp one but I believe I saw the Rattata one being recommended.
I've shown some of your stuff to friends and they tend to have fun with them.
I've always been under the belief that your community generally stays so positive and friendly because the vibe they get from your videos is 'Dude you hang with on a couch playing games while you talk about random crap on a Friday night' and it makes it come across more like hanging with a longtime buddy than watching an entertainer or streamer.
i do not remember when i started watching you but ever since i started watching you i havent missed a single episode of the challenge runs, i do also watch your other videos but i came here for these challenge runs and i am thankful for you doing these it makes my week and i hope that one day i can be as inspirational on another as you have been on me on my actual youtube account (when i start uploading)

Fun Fact: Beartic is the only non-Water Pokemon to get Swift Swim. Actually running it an my Rain team in Violet right now. Despite this, and despite polar bears being fantastic swimmers in the real world, Beartic can't swim in Scarlet and Violet.
I actually found you with your first Pokemon red. I have watched every pokemon run and most of the other challenges. I haven't been able to get into let play content in a long time but i do very much enjoy all you do. you do a great job and i hope more for you

I am glad you used Hail. At the start of the video noticing the Abilities, I immediately thought teaching them Hail would be the best "Big Brain" move and only situations that a Weather Effect would be useful.

You really pulled it off! I always thought of the Ice- type as a cruddy version of the Water-Type with the only plus being that they can easily end the Grass-Type, but you showed me that a Type is just a Type. The strength is in the individual Pokemon working it! Have a Merry Christmas, MDB!
Huh, Beartic gets so much coverage. Brick Break, EQ, Rock Slide, n all, I think it even learns Superpower by level up or move relearner. I would have expected to play out by the time elite four rolls around.
Anyways, a fun run. I really hope we get a newer game's run soon, perhaps a Fire type run in X pr Y to celebrate like New Years Fireworks.

Fun fact, Christmas as we know it is a pretty recent concept in Spain. traditionally we celebrate the three wise men day and give children presents on January 6th! So I immediately caught up to the theme of the names.

Its the three holy men. We had a christmas quiz at work this week where that was one of the questons. Dis not het it at Casper but as soon as you said Melkor i knew.
Btw, the thing I like the most about watching your videos is seeing you struggle. Rare candies before you reach the elite four really takes a lot of enjoyment away for me 😂
I always knew them as Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar. This is the first time I heard the second one as Casper.
For thawing with fire moves: If the frozen pokémon is hit by a fire move (or a move that's otherwise hot), or if the frozen pokémon uses one of a handful of moves (the ones you're most likely to come across are Flame Wheel, Flare Blitz and Scald).
Austin 3 : 16 said "Hail Yeah"
