This is likely the only period of time in the lives of these new railcars that we will see them in a train longer than the regular 12 cars on the LIRR. Clips shot at Lynbrook & Valley Stream. Enjoy =)
Traction sounds very typical for Japanese cars (especially those in japan). These look like they will be some very nice vehicles.
Some trains in Japan use Mitsubishi motors. Ever since the M7s were placed into service, so have we.
kinda sounds like JR West 223 series traction motors.
Wow !! It's almost as long as the Empire State Building is tall !! Not including the antenna, of course...,
That's funny, it's like the building is laying down LOL
Not exactly
Omg 14 cars!
Mismatched set 9011-9014 on the rear there. That seems to happen a lot when new equipment is coming in and pairs are needed for testing purposes... it happened with SEPTA when the M4 el cars were new... the first 8 cars all came mismatched, but were paired with their proper mates later after more cars were delivered.
I think the livery for the metro north m9s will be similar to their Long Island siblings but with metro north railroad written with the mat circle logo and without the yellow accents.
I keep seeing them on Woodside station being tested their every morning and late night when I go to school or work
Fan Railer you are amazing! How do you even get to railfan this much?
By my guess, I’m thinking he might be in college or he doesn’t go to school because he is available during peak hours.
..... It's called having days off from work.
Okay, congrats.
As much as I wish, I do not get off days from school (at least, of my choosing) heh heh. At least I have Easter break.
I myself wants to operate these trains, that's my dream
The platforms are not long enough although it is a good ideal for increasing passenger capacity...
The train in the thumbnail looks like an off-brand R110A.
I wonder what the M10s will look like for New Haven.
I caught 2 of them passing Bethpage station
It's kinda hard to read the letters in the red on the train
That's because it's a camera and it's catching the very quick blinking on LED signs. Our eyes can't catch that.
Nice! What are the LEDs over the cab windows? Marker lights or destination signs? Will safety striping on the car ends be added? With the "Cuomo Color" scheme, they look like some subway cars!
JeffFrmJoisey destination signs.
Typical MTA style....
Make the commuter railroads look like a suburban version of the subway.
Just a little accuracy comment, technically Valley Stream is on the West Hempstead and Far Rockaway branches, not the Babylon branch since most trains to and from Babylon don’t stop there
Valley stream is for the Long Beach branch and the far Rockaway branch. The train stopped there because it was going to Babylon so technically you are right in a way but also no.
Shut up Meg
Isnt it rare for it to stop at valley stream for the Babylon branch?
And Long Beach Branch
14 car trains....now there's a real test, and the Cuomo stripes add a unique touch...
They"d be even better if they had the yellow front ends.
4:35 I thought that came out from west hempstead lol
Great video real nice commuter
14 cars!!!
Except for the blue diagonal stripes, they still insist on mostly stainless steel color, already very water stained and dripped off protruding surfaces. By the time they finish testing they will be outdated..
Nice job!
Now let's see the Metro North version......
Gerald Green it’s called M8
@@Abstractt no it's not. It's M9A and they look exactly the same.
Why did they go with single-leaf doors?
Most of these cars are laid-up at Hillside Facility.
Like hot the engineer flashed the red lights at 450 to say hi
Ok. Is it just running up and down constantly today ?
Yep but it's pretty much to check it's good to be on the tracks
Beats Njt
So does anyone know when they're gonna start running
around june/july of 2019 according to their amodernli.com
This is Lynbrook
Wow, they not gonna be Yellow in the front anymore :(
When will they pass through Lynbrook again?
Idk but it should be for the test of the longbeach branch
Did the train open it’s doors? Because at the start they announced the train arrival and the sign said Babylon.
In all likelihood, its doors were opened on the opposite side. When conducting non-revenue stop testing, that tends to happen.
Are those tracks continuously-welded?
yes
@@FanRailer Awesome, makes a big difference in ride and comfort as well as noise, :D
All Aboard
It wouldn’t fit on metro north.
Idk if there will be M9A tbh
Demonictaco41 there won’t.
@@AE2-scc yes there will, but not right away. And they'll fit as they and METRO-NORTH cars are exactly the same dimensions aside from third rail configuration.
One does realize these cars do come apart every two car sets and can be configured into various shorter lengths? LoL
Why can't we build our own light rail trains. I know why here in Michigan
The above train although looking like a mutant subway is not light rail.
What time was this taken???
Again, mid-day.
So like 12?
yes
Surprise, surprise.
Yuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrr UoU OuO
Kawsaki
We can't build our own trains in this country? Other than the military we are getting closer and closer to being a third world country!
first comment
Nope
That's gonna be too much
