I made a horror game in 48 hours

- This video I spent 48 hours working on a cave themed horror game in unity. This project was a lot of fun to work on and for anyone looking to make a game. My advice is to just go for it, don't let your own opinions stop you.
was gonna put other links here but RUclips won't let me yet cause my channel is too new :(
anyways time for a super fun word soup for algorithm stuff (I don't really know if this works)
This video I made game dev 1000% funnier, with me and my good friends Dani, Codycanteatthis, toiu, and many more I made the GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME. and it's a horror game like, Five nights at Freddy's, Poppy playtime, and other famous games.
To see a man get over 150 subscribers on his first video is insane, not only coupled with the fact that if this is your first video ever (not just this channel) it looks like it was made by someone who's worked full time on RUclips for years. Also, it's surprising to see how well you did in 48 hrs, if it were me, I would barely finish the 3d modeling. Keep up the good work, I think you can create a massive channel with hundreds of thousands of subscribers if you work for it.
More like 1500 subscribers, that is just insane
And over 30.000 views
Your editing is just perfect, I wouldn't know this is your first video if you didn't tell me.
Great job, continue making youtube videos!
All I gotta say is you are the perfect mix of Dani, Michael reeves and shawcat, I have the biggest hopes for you in your game making journey dude!
I can't even explain how good that makes me feel lol! when I first started making this video I spent a couple weeks editing. Then I realized it was trash and just kinda stopped working on it. However, 2 weeks and one Michael reeves and Dani binge later, I threw out the old edit and started fresh. Dani and Michael Reeves were definitely my 2 biggest inspirations and I glad both of them showed and not just one.
Hello new youtuber, I am your target audience. Please refer to me for any questions you may have along your journey. Congratulations on completing level 1!
I am a beginner game dev, mainly an artist in blender. Also currently in a game jam currently trying to master animations and such. I really enjoy seeing a beginners process of actually completing something playable. I'm going to try to do the same.

Game dev student here! Great work and awesome video, was very fun to watch 😄
No this is the best editing I’ve seen you yet bruh should have 1 million subs
Never would have tought this was your first video. good job buddy 👍👍👍
This is the best claustrophobic style horror game I’m ever seen, and I actually played it, And I quit playing, aging it because I got to scared 😱
“You play as a minor” my mind is a messy place 0:23
The game looked more polished then what I've been trying to make for a couple days now, keep making cool videos! Also, your editing was very good.
I competely understand. One of my projects that I worked on was a dino fps game. Honestly giving yourself a time limit was a good thing and man it looks fun. I would love to see those other games you were working on.
That reference to Dani ,"unity's particle system".... that made me feel a whole mix of emotions...where dud you go dani..
The fact that this is your first video is schocking. Its the good editing that does it for me. Hope to see more of your videos! Keep up the good work.
I actually really like the style, neo-retroism seems like a good way to describe it. Excited for anything you make in the future!
I guess I was one of the few who randomly got this video recommended. Good job! The game looks atmospheric, almost in that 90s animated intro style a bunch of games had, and the production value of the video is also great!
Coming out of the gate hot with this one my guy. Great video. Please keep making em! Commentary was good, humor was humorous, voice is good, pacing is on point, well written...yadda yadda you get the point. Good job.
8:08 They made a new version of the AI Navigation system that you have to install via the package manager. It's mostly the same as the old system with NavMeshAgents and whatnot, but you have to create a GameObject and add the NavMeshSurface component and bake the NavMesh from there instead of an editor window like before. I show the basic steps in the video on my channel about Root Motion NavMeshAgents. Great job getting a basic scripted encounter system done without using any AI package though!
(oh, and they moved a bunch of stuff to the package manager. The thought was not every game needs a sprite editor, navmesh, etc, so your project doesn't get bloated with stuff you don't need. Also, they wanted to update those packages independently of the editor itself so they can update functionality without you needing to download a whole new editor, but I'm pretty sure they actually stopped doing that too because it caused a weird matrix of dependencies and issues on their end.)
Bro put in a Dani joke like we wouldnt notice
I have a little bit of lore of the monster: What if.
The monster was some type of dinosaur millions of years ago. And when the asteroid hit. It blew of the remaining ones skull skin and legs off?
You should be proud of your self I couldn't make a game of my life depended on it! You deserve a sub my guy
Added you to my watch laters because I thought u were one of those already famous game devs. Your thumbnail was pretty eye catching and looks professional. The flow of the video was great, and after watching the full video, my jaw dropped after seeing youre a NEW RUclipsR. Like damn bro this was a crazy good first video, I couldnt differentiate you from other already famous game devs. Youre def going places man keep up the great work!
I’d probably shit my pants while playing this also very cool vid , really liked it
i just realized this is his first video!?? the production quality is amazing
Wow, This blew up. I'm honestly not surprised. Your video quality is good and I thought this was made by a big youtuber and got shocked seeing you only have 1.41k subs!!
Remember me when you're famous🙏😅
i just clicked on this video because i was bored and wanted an excuse to draw horrifying monsters in my book but you're actually really good at making games. new sub
You deserve to blow up, your videos are such high quality, this deserves a sub!
Amazing video! Literally couldn't believe that this was your first ever video! keep up the good work, game development challenges are always entertaining so this channel could go a long way.
I'm glad more developers are trying challenges like this! I did something similar in 72 hours a while back (a horror game) and I ended up releasing it on itch cause it was not too bad :)
And this begins the rise of a legend. Amazing job!
At 3:47 i liked that reference to dani i hope you upload more often
Amazing job! I absolutely LOVED the video! I learned soo much from you! Thank you! :D Keep up the amazing work man!
Videos great! Lucky to know i was here from the beginning
this was the best video I have ever seen on youtube. now let me play this game
You are so underrated! Keep up uploading and you will definitely become famous like you deserve!
I was suprised when u said this was ur first vid cuz this was made well and entertaining
I have an idea for your next video: Updating the game in 48 or 72 hours challange.
Also, for your first video, I will honestly have to say that this is VERY good. Also I love the Dani and particle system reference. You have a lot of chances to become a great RUclipsr. Good luck!
Thinking about vr :)
Good editing for youre first video you got urself a new sub
The ending of the video shocked me, at the end of the video i was like "lets watch this guy's other videos because they are cool and very well made", and at that moment you litterally said "this is the first video of my channel" 😂, continue your content dude its really cool
Damn that was awesome man! Keep up the great work! You should totally work on this project more.
Always love new RUclipsrs! Remember me as your 837th subscriber.
Dude as someone whos just getting into game dev, this is super inspiring. Awesome vid man!
Solid first video! i really enjoyed the whole journey of you creating this 48 horror game!
Well done. Honestly would have never guessed this was your first video. Very well spoken and edited.
this is an amazing first video, keep up the good work!
Your idea is really good for a horor game especially for a VR game
That was really good I hope to see more work like this :)
How the hell does this man only have 64 subscribers!!! You’re video is amazing
Love the idea! Gonna start making my horror game tomorrow, thanks for the motivation! ❤️
How the heck do you only have 500 subs. I expected you to have at least 1 mil. Great video. Very very high quality. Good job.
Omg I watched the whole video thinking you were a hardened veteran RUclipsr, finding out this was your first video was mind blowing, keep up the amazing work man, earned my sub for sure
Awesome video man! I just started learning game dev in godot, I’m hoping to get to your level, and be able to make a game in 48 hours one day! I’ve been working on my current game for 2 weeks and I still haven’t even gotten health to work right lol! But hey, seriously fantastic job! Really enjoyed the video!
I will say, my game is all bells and whistles, and no substance. That’s the reason I have no plans on releasing it unless I fix it up some. Take your time with a game. I’m sure it will turn out great!
@@BerryCoYT for sure! Regardless, having a starting baseline like this is awesome! At this point with your game, it’s all about adding that substance, which I’ve noticed is the fun part. Getting the game to work and having the bottom line, is pretty tough. I could be completely wrong though! I can’t wait to have something with the baseline done just so I can add more fun things to whatever game I end up making! But yes, I’m planning to use this year to learn, then next year see how much I’ve learned! Thank you for the motivation, keep doing what you’re doing! You’re REALLY good at it! Not only can you develop games, but knowing blender like you do is very impressive!
The Jurassic world sound effects are crazy
I’m sorry but 420 is now 421… it had to end eventually. And you got a subscriber out of it :D
No worries lol
The video is excellent, especially the editing part. You should continue making RUclips videos.
This is a pretty average horror game dev time I think. Also, just wanna say, this was really good, especially for a first video. You’ve got my attention (and my subscription)
Daamnn, i really like the game. Its a mix of Amnesia The Bunker and a short filme of Del Toro (Cabinet of curiosities) specific of the rats episode (2th ep of the first season)
i love these game development videos!
I bet this man gonna absolutely EXPLODE in views. Just you watch.
This game is amazing if Imma be honest even if the game isn’t perfect it’s really cool concept in my opinion
Nice first vid, keep up the work for success
Great video and the unity particle system thing was funny :)
first vid is really high quality
keep making vids, u might go far
really cool idea hope to see you get bigger
this video is great quality ur channel will be huge if u keep uploading
Can't believe this is your first ever video, I genuinely thought you'd have thousands of subs. Great vid dude!
watching this gives me a lot of confidence as someone who can code and wants to make games but has little artistic talent. i feel like lots of the solo dev youtubers out there are kind of experts in everything, or at least jacks in every trade, but your drawings look almost as bad as mine (no offense) and you made a cool game out of them!
Well I’m glad my poor drawing skills could help you lol
Always love seeing new people share their game makings!
This is your first video?! Nice editing, not boring but gives detail about the project!
Alright , here are my recommendations -
1) More comedy , less code and modeling - I'd like to see a more relaxed video type , sorta like Dani , he has tons of jokes and less coding stuff (more abt this in (3))
2) Inside Jokes - This is your time to make inside jokes , maybe something unique , something new , again. I have no other example but Dani , like 'Milk' and 'Thicc' and 'Boner'
3) Green Screen - Instead of playing the clip of yourself modeling , shorten the clip and overlay your green screen , explaining what's going on , and personally , I'd like to see the 'Haha , boriiiiiing Shut up nerd' type treatment
4) Hippity Hoppity , your model is now my property - It's ok to stal models rather than wasting time on them
5) Improve the games - If you're planning to have more of such challenges , after making the game whilst following the rules of the challenge , it's alright to work upon it a bit more and polish it
6) Publish them. - Publish your games somewhere , you'll get recognition
7) Community - Make a discord server , Reddit page etc , might as well do some meme review type stuff , this will help you achieve (2) easier
8) Video Editing - Make more camera shake and keep the video format casual
Lastly , just be yourself
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely see where I can use some of those. The thing at the end of the description is supposed to be like an algorithm "Hack" but I honestly have no idea if it does anything lol. I just added because why not.
@@BerryCoYT oh , lol also , great job on the replies , it's good to know that you're active with your viewers
Bro I love your video! You are so underrated! I will remember being an og viewer when you get famous one day. Great editing and great start!
W channel. I'm happy to be part of the first of many to love your content!
This was really cool and I think it turned out surprisingly good espally the monster, I switched from Unity to Godot during the whole original fiasco and honestly I'm glad I did I think its a lot better in many ways, id recommend it but regardless wish you luck wherever your adventure takes you
I almost started the new project I’m working on in unreal however I still decided to stick with Unity. One day I’ll try out some other stuff but right now I’m kinda stuck in my ways. Switching just seems scary. I feel like when I’m comfortable enough with unity then I could try something new.
@@BerryCoYT that's completely fair and I wish you luck
Glad to be apart of the first 2k subscribers.
Wow great work! I can’t wait to see more like this in the future!
yet again found another underrated game dev youtuber great video bro i subbed
Blud rly just used a trex sound😂
But still for 48 hours and a new youtuber goodjob🎉
Pls refine this game more the game has so much potential as a horror game the sounds the atmosphere and on top of that the idea of a cramped cave is so good for a horror game if u improve its graphics and work on it more it will become a great horror game
Currently I’m working on a very cool new project however because of all of the comments I’m seeing about revamping the game I’ll probably do that after!
@@BerryCoYT people are telling you to revamp this game because there are many videos like this but all of them are just so basic and not worth the watch sometimes but here you have created a idea that is like " the thing we don't know but needed" that'w why people are telling you to work on it
Wait YOUR NOT FAMOUS????? Howwww??? Underrated
Over 1,000 subscribers when you only published 1 video! 🎉🎉🎉
This video is so cool. Especially as its your first
Seeing all these “I made a horror game in x hours” makes me wanna make my own
Go for it! It was definitely worth it for me!
@@BerryCoYT I’ve barely played any horror games but I’ll try
tbh man u are my inspiration of start making game!
New subscriber! Cant wait to see ur future videos ❤
I like how the algorithm shows hidden gems like you
Great first video
For a Dani clone
Wait, did you say Unity's Particle System???? Wait, YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT UNITY's PARTICLE SYSTEM IS? Well, its a great system for making particles! Wait Karlson?
It would be interesting to see you take a week to polish and add to the game. I kind of like that method for keeping motivated- 2 days for something playable, gauge interest and get feedback, implement feedback in short time, rinse repeat til you have something you are proud of or get bored lol.
I might try that soon after seeing all the popular demand, however currently I have a new game in the works that I think you'll all like :)
This devlog is great!
This would be such a cool game in vr and grabbing the floor to move that would be cool
YOu are going somewhere, Underrated af, very good editting
Pro dev tip: start playing bible verses whenever you have to code anything complicated for +1 bug resistance
BRO GOT OVER 2K SUBS ON ONE VID
props to you my g🎉
Skull crawler. That’s the kong monster.
The second I saw the movement animation my mind went straight to Crawlspace
When it comes to quaternion, all you need to know is that it basically handles rotation in 3d space
Ahh. That makes sense lol
3:47 dani: STOP STEALING MY JOKES!!!!!!
I prefer to think of it as a reference :)
it feels good when you change someones sub count from 699 to 700
3:29 The Fact That This Played At 11:30AM On a Sunday
awesome vid bro, as someone who also just uploaded his first vid, this is inspiring! keep up the good work !
you litteraly drew the lethal company thumper🔥
