It has finally happened. The Manga of Attack on Titan has ended with its last chapter today.
After 11 years, it has finally come to an end. (This description is spoiler-free, don't worry)
Thank you, Isayama-Sensei, for creating this masterpiece. For giving us epic moments of story development. For breaking our hearts every months. For the all good times.
Now, all we can do is waiting for the Anime continuation of Attack on Titan Final Season.
A few words about this piano arrangement:
Similar to my 「Guren no Yumiya」 (full ver.) piano cover, this arrangement is basically non-stop piano action and the sound can be absolutely massive sometimes, especially during the chorus. It's also one of my top 20 most difficult arrangements, mostly because of the fast speed and the octave spamming everywhere.
The thing I like the most about Sound Horizon is their creativity concerning the song structure. They always love to quote melodies from another song like a mini-medley type of Music. 「Shinzou wo Sasageyo」 for example has a short section of 「Jiyuu no Tsubasa」 in 3:02 and a longer 「Guren no Yumiya」 section in 4:24. It is brilliantly included in the song structure and it serves as a wonderful musical callback at the same time.
The original song has also 4 (!) Instrumental solos during the bridge part and each of them is rising the excitement further and further until the epic climax in 4:24.
First there is the drum in 3:09, then the E-Guitar in 3:33, afterwards a piano solo in 3:57 and finally, a violin solo in 4:09. I tried to imitate each instrument on the piano as good as possible and I ended up arranging at least 20 different versions for each part. I just picked out my best ideas and combined it for the instrumental solo part.
Last but not least, the clear file on the top of the piano was a bonus item included in the Manga Magazine of the last chapter of Attack on Titan. It's an original illustration by Isayama Sensei, showing Eren and his friends as kids! Definitely the most wholesome things I have seen for a long time.

@@ArchiduquesaMA it does make sense, I thought it didn’t at first but you have to rethink erens character entirely. So much I thought I knew about eren was wrong, i thought he was a perfect mc who never made mistakes and always pushed forward but that wasn’t the case. He pushed forward, but not of his own will. He was a slave to destiny, and he put on this facade of determination even for himself. In the end, he chose to sacrifice his own freedom for his friends’ once he realized the selfishness in his own goals.
@@harrisonmiracle6349 I realized the point that Isayama tried to explained it to us. Yet I never think that it will end this peacefully. I kinda still want the ending of where there's a winner side and the loser side. Because for me (not for everyone), AOT has always been a war story and war needs to end with a win and lose condition (for me again). So I kinda disappointed by the ending but I also respect what message that Isayama wanted to deliver to us.
@@amingg71 fair enough. I was shocked when I realized that we didn’t actually know eren this entire time, and that even Eren himself didn’t know who he was or why he did the things it did. It turned the entire story on its head, and some people interpreted that in a bad way and thought it was sloppy writing. If you take a deeper look, however, it’s not a bad thing at all and just points out that eren had a completely different path than we thought he did, and we finally saw what it actually was in ch 139.
I will never forget that Levi Manga page you have mentioned above. The feels... they were real.

If you want to keep sane, stay away from aot related stuff as much as possible. You will never know when you'll get spoiled.

It was such a good time indeed. The Attack on Titan Anime literally came out of the blue 8 years ago and created a massive global hype phenomenon - something I might not ever experience again in my life.
These were truly the golden age for all Anime fans.

As someone who hasn’t even finished s1 of this anime, I still bawled my eyes out. It really says a lot about the musician and the performance to be able to consistently pull of emotional pieces and performances. Each upload, he delivers. You really can feel the pent up emotion that is being transcribed into notes and music. Thank you Animenz for sharing your music to us!

He probably won't see this bc I'm commenting quite late after the upload, but I wanted to say that you're such an inspiration for me. You inspired me to start playing piano and arrange music. Back in 2018, I had moved to my new house and my mom found her old keyboard. I remembered that she tried to teach me how to play when I was about 3 to 4 years old. My other hobbies from those times consumed the time that she teach me. She was busy working to teach me anymore, so since I new how to read sheet music because of school choir and band, I taught my self how to play. When Christmas came around, my mom bought me notation software. That's when I began to listen to your videos a lot more, hearing your ways and approaches on notating different things. I eventually made my first score during quarantine. Now, I've been given the opportunity to arrange a piece for my high school jazz band for us to play next year. I just want to say thank you for posting and being such an amazing inspiration and piano player. I wouldn't have the opportunities that I do today without you.

I've never been more in awe and out of breath than during that second half of the song. You mimicked every single instrument near-perfectly. You made the piano sound like a bass, a violin, an harmonica, an electric guitar, im in complete disbelief. I'm not a piano expert so i cannot tell if this is your hardest piece yet, but for a normie like me who watched every single video, it's definitely the most impressive piano cover i've ever witnessed. whoaaa really loved that piano solo!! Would you say your new style is more improvisational based, and do you spend more time improvising these ideas rather than focusing the arranging more on composition? Because I can see a lot of jazz influences combined with classical technique.
It’s a mix of both actually. I do improvise first and I record at the same time. After a few arrangement versions, I replay my footage and review it. Then I just combine the best ideas and practice the exact same pattern until I fully memorize it. I used to make “blind jumps” aka writing the sheets first, but it was too time consuming and counter intuitive. I realized I can come up with better ideas if I just sit at the piano and start playing first

At this point I can hold a proper conversation about the manga without having even read it. I'm an anime only watcher and the spoilers are literally everywhere. I know all the main events including the ending. Really hope people would be more considerate and careful with respect to spoiler content cause it just ruins everything.
