- I was recently doing a walking audit of various shops & businesses along the downtown promenade. I stumbled across an unmarked Disney location that sparked my interest as I noticed a collage of old license plates mounted along the wall just inside what appeared to be some sort of dining location...It was later determined that it was an employee break room which seemed like an odd place for the break room to be positioned in plain view from the public sidewalk through the doors. I had a couple employees come out to question why I was recording inside through the window & i explained that their collage drew my attention. One individual threatened to call police due to my documenting from the public sidewalk, so I had to stay on scene to be sure to record any interaction if & when law enforcement arrived. About 15-20 mins later an unmarked vehicle pulled up & 3 individuals proceeded around the corner to meet up with the calling party. They didn't appear to be any official law enforcement & more so private security for the company... I initially decided to give them a fail for the threat of calling police, but on the flip side gave a pass for apparently calling their security rather than wasting law enforcement's valuable time coming out for no crime.

Oh don't you love the paranoia that is Disney. I've had experience dealing with Disney employees and their security as well. I've never understood why they're so paranoid. Why do they care so much about you recording a plain unmarked building? Is Mickey Mouse now in the witness protection program or something?

Chris, years ago I managed a real estate project at on Center St. This was when the are was undergoing it's "redevelopment plan" in which Disney was in partnership with the City, I believe those offices there housed their call centers for the Vacation Club.
Worth another visit with another Auditor or two, wouldn't put it past Disney to be up to something nefarious...

I worked in retail for years. These people misunderstand the idea of "Can I help you with something?".
The idea is that, if you see someone doing something that you perceive as suspicious, you introduce yourself and offer exceptional customer service. That way, if they are shoplifting or whatever, you get a closer look, they know that you are on to them, and they move on. If, however, they aren't doing anything illegal, they feel like a valued customer and have a positive experience.
Walking up to someone with an attitude and saying, "Can I help you with something?" might get the shoplifters to move on but it does nothing for your customers and potential customers.
lol...i was taught by a very smart retail manager that starting a sentence with can or may was considered a close ended question and means you maybe just lost a sale. "what " was iffy like "what can i help you find" might garner a "nothing' in return , again closing the conversation....but saying "let me help you find what you need " doesnt give the person an out
The only thing nefarious about that audit was the unmarked nature of that Disney building. They have always acted like their own entity (a country within a country so to speak). Super creepy stuff.
