We had free lots chickens. They roam all around the barn lots of the farmsteads. And most of them were smart enough to be back in the chicken house by evening door closing. Otherwise they would end up a fox or coon's nighttime buffet!
I will never NOT love Bill Engvall's comedy! I was saddened when I saw a video of him announcing his retirement. But he's (more than) earned it. So, Enjoy the fruits of your labor Bill and God Bless. (Thanks for all the laughs)
I grew up with the birds. they'd be called free range chickens today, no cages etc. but little cubbies that had their nests to lay eggs inside and walking around space outside. we just called them chickens, or the hen house, but I never thought they'd be fancy in the future!
Ironically the one's your talking about aren't actually "Free Range" Chickens their still confound in a place with Human interaction. If you want real Free Range Chickens go to Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Bermuda, Singapore, Pakistan, Malaysia, Nepal, Indonesia, China, Australia, Fiji, Jamaica, Palau, Puerto Rico or Here in the United States, the states includes Hawaii on the island of Kauai. Hawaii provides the right temperatures and living conditions for wild chickens to thrive. In Kauai, these chickens are everywhere. The wild red junglefowl already lived there, having been brought to the island by humans. It’s believed that Hurricanes Iwa and Iniki were the cause of people’s domesticated chickens being relocated into forests. There, they bred with the junglefowl. The feral chicken population increased after both hurricanes, according to the Hawaii Audubon Society. and California at the Vineyard Avenue off-ramp of the Hollywood Freeway in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Freeway Chickens have made their home. This colony of feral chickens likely began in 1970, when a poultry truck overturned, releasing chickens into the area. This colony has spread to form another colony 2 miles away at the Burbank ramp. While many of the chickens have been captured and relocated to ranches, the ones that remain continue to thrive.. Their the real Free Range Chickens aka Feral Chickens.
TBH, I went on a cruise last year and on the private island of Coco Cay I met some local wild chickens. A mama chicken and her three young chickens… they were quite cute. First time I ever encountered actual wild chickens…
Well, technically, my birds NEVER go into a coop, so they are literally free ranging chickens. They sleep in trees, or on top of the coop, but those cheeky bastards won't go inside the coop. ;) Free range.
He's so right about the chicken! My grandmother, born in 1900, raised chickens for eggs and meat. My mother hated those chickens and said they were the "nastiest animal"!! She liked eating chickens and eggs, as long as "she" didn't have to go battle the hens for their eggs, walk through their poop, and pluck feathers after my grandma wrung their neck!! My grandma had free range chickens for her time....a large fenced in chicken yard with a separate roosting coop. If you want to see what happens with free range chickens.. go to St. Lucia. I think that's where people started asking 'why did the chicken cross the road?' Just be sure you stop your car for that chicken to take his sweet time crossing the road!!
come to Australia there a heaps of chicken farms and yes they are out in the fields only go inside at night or to lay eggs but during the day they roam the farms
Chickens are actually native to Southeast Asia, much like how turkeys are native to the mountainous regions of the Americas. Early farmers noticed that chickens would eat the bamboo seeds and would lay their eggs around that time. So by manipulating the amount of seed available, farmers got eggs year-round and chickens got a reliable source of food, safety, and shelter So, chickens were likely traded with Ghengis Khan’s empire, and then were brought with upon discovery of the New World. Birds of prey are surely happy that they were introduced too
There are no 'free range' chickens. Sure, they leave the doors to the coop open, but they keep all the chicken food in the coop, so that's where the chickens stay!
Anyone ever notice how you can call chickens free range, veggies organic, and prepared foods "GOURMET" just so they can charge more for it? What a racket. Give me a bird that's been cooped up with 20 of his buddies, give me all the veggies that's been treated with pesticides, and give me food prepared the traditional way(s).
We will miss these comedians good jokes and stories. These new comedians aren’t funny at all and can’t talk without using every 4 letter word known to man.
That's right bill free range chickens is just an excuse to charge you more just like organic fruits and vegetables. they have no more nutritional value than regular produce just that they cost you more at the store.
Brilliant as usual Bill, thank you. As a quick aside, on Norfolk Island when my late wife and I were there round 2014, all over the island are free range, wild chickens and if you find their eggs or can catch one, go for it lol, free for one and all, that is, if you can catch one of the slippery little suckers lol, give it a few more years, the chickens might be pushing the people back into the sea lol :)
Hate to tell you this, Bill. LOVE your comedy. BUT, FREE RANGE CHICKENS do exist. All my former chickens used to FREE RANGE on my 4 acres of poison free land. Their EGGS were DARK orange yolks..and unlike what you BUY in the grocery store. The closest I've found is VITAL FARMS eggs...they are free range too. WONDERFUL.
Sorry Bill, but free range chickens exist. The place is call Kauai. The roam around the island. They even had the nerve to get in some of my landscape pic. . . One evening we ate chicken at restaurant. Our waiter was not native to Kauai, he was from another island. We joked with him out our dinner being road kill. . . Having said that, I can related to the wife not liking my selection of chicken.
Kinda blows up the whole free range chicken argument doesn't it? Well out here in California the only eggs you can buy are "free range" eggs. Funny, but they taste the same. I guess an egg is an egg and an omelet and..
I usually buy my eggs at the store but my sister gets hers from a guy she works with. I started giving him my old cartons so he gives me a dozen anytime she gets some. They definitely taste better and the yolks are a darker yellow.
@@samuelhowie4543 Oh yes l know what you're talking about. I retired last year from Pest control and several of my customers and the owner of the last time company I worked for had free range chickens and I would get eggs from them. They were darker yolks like you said and tasted different but to me not necessarily better.
Bill Engvall is the best comedian I just laugh when he did his shows.
I agree 💯 percent with you on that one
"Look, we let the chickens roam around a 20'x20' yard before we threw em in the slaughter machine! That'll be a 300% markup please! :3" 😂
We had free lots chickens. They roam all around the barn lots of the farmsteads. And most of them were smart enough to be back in the chicken house by evening door closing. Otherwise they would end up a fox or coon's nighttime buffet!
Best sketch ever. Difficult to stop laughing!!!
How he can perform this skit with a straight face is beyond me 😂
I will never NOT love Bill Engvall's comedy!
I was saddened when I saw a video of him announcing his retirement.

Even free range chickens are in a locked building with limited room to move.
You are the best Bill.
Bill Engvall is one of the funniest guys ever. I’ll bet he’s enjoying his retirement.

er, free range chickens mean uncaged, not necessarily living wild, just not crammed into cruel wire cages etc. calm down!@@7dog123
@@7dog123"The colony began back in 1970 when a poultry truck overturned". At that point I knew we had a good story going!

How a southern boy could live in California has always been a mystery to me!
There is such a place...yuba city CA. They're freaking everywhere! And when one gets hit by a car, THEY EAT THEIR OWN! no regrets.
There are no 'free range' chickens. Sure, they leave the doors to the coop open, but they keep all the chicken food in the coop, so that's where the chickens stay!
Good video.
The great chicken coup pronounced kōō
Hawks an coyote hunt free range chickens very well
I’m just sorry that he’s retired now.
He is somewhat right. For a chicken to be called free range all they have to do is give them access to the outside.
Which one is this on. I can't seem to remember where it is from. 😔
🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
I must be the guy in the faamily😢

"Hmmm" says this Indian 🐣😂🤣
I love him so much. I lost it when he said " and here comes the colonel"
I have to wear bladder pads watching him !!
Now you did it. This Oldgoat has to go pee 😅
There actually was a great chicken war. Google it, it wasn’t an actual armed conflict but I swear that’s not a joke.
This 15 Degrees Off Cool special had me in tears it was so funny.
They actually had an escaped flock of chickens in a town I used to work in.
They did alright really, but think the city had them taken care of.

The island of Kuai'i has free range chicken after a hurricane acouple decades ago.
Joe Bob Briggs wrote a fantastic piece about free-range chicken many years ago.
Sign at a gas station: our petroleum products are supplied by free range dinosaurs.
Chicken is chicken is chicken. The only difference is that "free range chicken" cost about a dollar more. It's just a marketing tactic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
