Hello all,
Welcome to a Victorian heritage train video. Today we travel up the Mernda Line for this year's suburban shuttles. This year we have the pairing of steam and electric operating the shuttles. K183 took the lead out of the workshops and down the Mernda line. Behind it was the preserved Tait train, operating with all five of the restored carriages. The commonly known Red Rattler took charge of the UP runs. There were five shuttle runs that began from Mernda Station. The trips had the trains run to Reservoir Station and return. Two one-way transfer trains were also run at the beginning and end of the tour.
In this video we spend our full day out on the Mernda line, starting with the transfer in Thornbury and ending with it at Merri.

Steamrail Victoria is one of the mainline heritage operators in Victoria, offering day trips and weekend tours back to a bygone era, whether by heritage steam, diesel or electric. This trip was one of the more popular suburban shuttle tours, which saw the train operate locally on Melbourne's metropolitan train network. For more information, head to:
