    Hello all,
Welcome to a Victorian heritage train video. Today we head out for the annual Hurstbridge Wattle Festival steam shuttles, operated by Steamrail Victoria. This year we saw a first for the operation, where instead of the use of two steam locomotives, a steam rattler formation was formed with K183 on the east end of the preserved Tait train. The Tait operated in its five-carriage formation for these shuttles. The tour began with a morning transfer train from Newport/Flinders Street to Hurstbridge, then six return shuttles were run between Hurstbridge and Eltham. The day concluded with a transfer train advertised as the "Night Train' back to Melbourne under power of the Tait.
This year's coverage is a little different as we only stayed out until the fifth shuttle, hoping to dodge the impending storm. However, the rain did hit during the fifth shuttle, which is where we finished off this year's video.
This year also marked the 20th anniversary of the Hurstbridge Wattle Festival.
We begin our video at Southern Cross Station for the transfer then head up on the train following the special to Diamond Creek to start our coverage of the shuttles.

Steamrail Victoria is one of the mainline heritage operators in Victoria, offering day trips and weekend tours back to a bygone era, whether by heritage steam, diesel or electric. This trip was one of the more popular suburban shuttle tours, which saw the train operate locally on Melbourne's metropolitan train network. For more information, head to:

Sunday was the perfect example of Melbourne weather, overcast, then sunny and hot and then stormy! But it was still a great day out. Great video mate
