More words of mister Sam Hill than I ever heard before
He's "actions speak louder..." kinda guy. I can never get over how humble he is - none of that primadonna stardom of ... I won't be naming names here...
“I’m not getting taller, so my bike doesn’t need to get longer.”
No no no. The bike industry decides what you need, it’s your job to buy what they market to you. They call it “progress”
It’s funny because myself being a person with short legs and a long torso , the longer reaches on the newer bikes has been fantastic for me
He's got a point, but a lot of us 6ft and up have been riding too small bikes for a really long time. It's nice to finally feel between the wheels instead of over the rear.
@@gravitybass I remember when everyone was riding around with 100 mm stems ( 2012 ish ) , then the shorter stem craze came in and the bikes generally didn’t get longer to compensate, it’s like a delayed reaction , I might be one of the few that’s glad it’s happened:)
Quote of the year!!!!
Lol I almost complained about the weird filming angle, what with the sun being behind the subject. But then I realised it's probably sunny as hell and nobody wants to look directly into the sun to film a video.
There always remains the option in between....
Be cool to hear his follow up thoughts after the race. Guess we will know based on what bike he takes into round 3.
Background music playing louder than he talks
Set up is crazy
"I don't buy into the longer slacker bike trend" says the guy with DH head angle on a freeride bike that Just so happens to be pedally enough to be used as a Enduro.
You also don't know what his head angle actually is. He could have an angle set in it to make it steeper. The huge travel of that bike better fits his preffered feel as well
I think this sounds like a quite sick bike...
I think he was poking a bit of fun at riders who are like 5'8" buying large frames and marketing idiots like the people at Specialized telling people an S5 frame is suitable for someone who like a roomy bike even if they're a short arse.
@@samdavison-wall4972 I think you are right
Is the frame giga 275 or 290 because he is riding mullet
There is another team rider on mullet. And also Katie Winton. To save geo changes, Nukeproof are likely using the 29r front triangle and 27.5 rear triangle. Not an option you can buy.
The new frame is the Mega/Giga 297, designed for a mullet setup.
Sam hills my fav mtber
"Shez a bluddy nugget mate!" "too right mate!"...etc. #ProudToBeAnAussieBogan
All the Pink Bike video coverage from EWS looks to have washed out colours?
Comic book colour grading: moar blue and orange!
Exposure/whites feel a bit low too
Also noticed color grading is different. I like it though, it's different 😊
Sick bike
Was thinking about getting a giga but my megas too good wish they would make a aluminum frame option for giga prefer aluminum
What's up with that blackbox Zeb? It's still the same zeb but with even better internals hhhmm maybe D1 Debonair spring and charger 3.0?😄
Nice bike
Expect more mullet setup bikes from every brand in 2023..
Heard he’s got crazy narrow bars. Any numbers on those guys?
750 Wide 20 rise was his setup 2018, I don’t think it has changed a lot since then
@@erikanzenmtb3124 thats what I ride. Its a compromise because of narrow tree squeezes. You can go faster thru narrow sections because less fear of bar clearance.
@@kevinvandeventer8690 I want to cut down my bars, I’m just scared of going to far
@@erikanzenmtb3124 just go as far as you need to get thru your trails.
I have some pretty tight squeezes' where 750 gives me 35mm on either side of the bars and the trees.
If I could I would run 780 but I'm slower overall.
@@erikanzenmtb3124 Chop 5mm at a time. New bars are suuuper wide, nothing wrong with bringing it in a bit.
One Sam's word, "yeah" 🤣
how can i buy this bike
Where was Sunday saves?!
It’s a bi-weekly series so it’ll be up next Sunday!
@@pinkbike ohhhhh ok 👌🏻
@@noaherps5186
No one made any saves this week.
Does nukeproof still do downhill bikes?
Yes they do it’s called the dissent
His 20mm rise bars looks like their higher than 20mm.
Glizzy
Interesting he's not running MegNeg this year.
Both different bikes this year. Different leverage ratio on new Mega probably doesn't require it.
😏🤘...
Sam Hill doesn't buy into the whole longer slacker bike thing. Guess he doesn't enduro, bro!
lol
No coil either,
Check out what size frame lanky long large Jack Moir chose. Its tiny! And his reasoning being: Short bike gets him around corners quicker on unfamiliar tracks. His recent success agrees with that assessment. He also says, longer works better for him on fast familiar tracks. And it makes sense to me, as I'm also on the taller side and am riding now longer bikes than 5 years ago, but not the really stretched out ones on the market because I always felt that navigating me long self *and* a long bike around corners is a flow breaker. Dont buy into the hype, just get what feels right for you, is probably the message here.
:)
what???
Sossy
Сэм красава, но вел у него уродский
He is definitely a legend but remind me where he finished this weekend. LOL.
where did you finish this weekend?
@@TheMTBRider96 Oh boy, somebody always has to get all sensitive.
You really missed the chance to reply with “on your mums back” there
@@jsey12 call me crazy but most people usually don’t like armchair analysts
I know I was going to go there but I didnt think I should.
