A tip I've been meaning to leave: check the framerates of videos to make sure you're not getting the European PAL versions, which will have the voices sped up a bit (and thus higher pitched) than was intended--at least, in older works. If it's 25fps or 50fps, it's been sped up slightly.
I'm pretty sure your source for the 1970-1975 clips was PAL. as I do not remember Fred's voice being higher (and whinier) then, and his voice goes back down in the 1976-1978 clips. And it sounds completely different than when he intentionally makes his voice higher to make him sound younger in 2006-2008.

His voice acting definitely become much more fluid after the 80s. Probably had something to do with the insane amount of experience he got in the 90s working for Disney. Seriously... He voiced at least half the characters in a given episode of anything he was in. 🤭

Here's what I don't get: if you were NOT going to use Frank Welker for Scoob, for whatever reason, why not get Freddie Prinze Jr.? He's a pretty good voice actor as well, and it would have been a cool throwback. Nothing against Zac Efron, but that was definitely "celebrity casting", not because he best fit the role.

    • @Father_of_Death

They tried to revamp the franchise unfortunately it didn't work. I do agree though Freddie Prinze Jr. would have been a nice call back to the 2002 and 2004 movies.

For Scoob! movie, the studio should've hire Frank Welker to play as Fred Jones since Scooby-Doo! Where Are You? has his inception. Even a celebrity Freddie Prinze Jr. or Robbie Amell is a better choice than a random choice.

Kind of surprised Fred had a singing voice in Music of the Vampire. Given his versatility, I would have thought Frank Welker would have been perfectly capable of pulling off a singing performance for the character. Wise is a good singer (after all, this is the guy who performed Goofy Goober Rock in the first SpongeBob movie), but his Fred voice sounds way too nasally.
Zac Efron sounds like...well, Zac Efron. There’s not much else to it. The two true voices are Welker and Steven. Steven works well as a younger Fred who has a much more interesting personality than in pretty much any other Scooby media. However, I still lean slightly towards Welker, as he is the voice I’m the most used to, and he is capable of making Fred sound interesting whenever they do manage to give Fred some personality, like on What’s New Scooby Doo?
    1. Frank Welker
    2. Carl Steven
    3. Zac Efron
    4. Jim Wise
