Since we're in the summer months and things are slow, we are throwing back some of our favorite hunts that are action packed with tons of great footage. More sweet elk footage from years past as well to get everyone excited for the fall season. Fall is near....
I was stationed on Kodiak in 1963/64 at the U.S. Navy's communication facility at what was called the Holiday Beach receiver site about 15 miles sse of the main military base/Kodiak airstrip... I harvested a Sitka buck deer about 5 miles from Holiday Beach, reminded me of a larger mule deer we have in Wyo... Dressed weight was about 75 lbs... I was looking for a Kodiak bear on the excursion... I had a .308 Norma magnum rifle using 240 gr rounds which I hand-loaded... Never got a bear but I ate that delicious deer meat I was allowed to hang in the walk-in freezer at our receiver site... Loved Kodiak, except for the earthquake & tidal wave catastrophe in early 1964... D.R. Morris Sr CPO U.S. Navy Retired
Happy for the last. That's the way it's supposed to happen. Fast and without warning. Nice deer. Similar to what we pray for here each year so we can eat. Stay well.
Heading to Kodiak 17th next month. Have any pointers? Have OnX, plan on downloading map, did you hunt mostly off beach? Planned on hiking and glass the whole time.
Hey guys what’s your camera setup out there ? I’m looking to get my first camera this season but I’m not sure of what to get as far as camera, lenses, etc ? Any recommendations ?

God I miss living there it's so beautiful
Is this last years hunt?
First or second focal point on the scopes you guys used? Wonder for those quick shots
1:57 in I hope they closed that cargo belly door before you guys took off.
I have been watching these Alaska hunts for a couple of years. Question why kill the fox.
That's the same fox🦊 they killed last year 🤣
I see no one gave you a answer. Tanned, they make a beautiful wall hanging. That's the most common. Secondly, some make hats, gloves, ect with them.
Have you considered a portable electric bear fence to keep your camp and game secure?
