Thank you for sharing your story! I’m having my TMJ TJR surgery in under 2 months time and it’s been hard to find many patient experiences online. It’s so reassuring to see you doing so well at the 3 year mark. Well done on all your hard work, physical therapy and recovery, and thanks again for sharing your story!

    what is your pain like?

Very little pain. This year I’ve spent more time outside in the Pennsylvanian winter and it definitely caused some discomfort for me, but other than that I live almost totally pain-free!

    Hi :)
Your videos are the only ones I can find on first hand experience of the joint replacement surgery so I've got a few questions, if you don't mind 🙈.
I might have to get my joints replaced due to severe arthritis.
What was your intubation like? I had to have nasal intubation for my last surgery and it was a nightmare.
Did you only have numbness or also pain from the nerve damage?
A short reply would really mean a lot. Ever since my last surgery I'm pretty terrified 😬

Hi! So sorry for the late reply, I’m very glad My videos have helped you! I don’t have much memory of the intubation aspect of the surgery so it must not have been to painful! I will check with my parents and see if they recall anything more specific. My face was numb from right under my eyes down to my chin for around 3 months but there was no permanent nerve damage for me! There is a risk of permanent damage in the form of numbness or limited control of movement. I feel like I may have a minimal amount of numbness in my chin but I don’t really notice it. Feel free to DM me on Instagram @chinuptjr with any more questions or if you’re in need of support! I try to check those often but I do fall behind sometimes! Thanks so much for commenting and I wish you the best of luck with your surgery!
