I just bought a photo book of Central Florida's bone valley phosphate operations during the early 80s. It's crazy how many SCL trains operated their on a daily basis. There was something like 20 active mines and 14 processing plants during the peak of production during the 80s. Rail activity still takes place but it's only a fraction of what it once was. There's only 3 mines life, 2 which have rail operations and 3 processing plants. Really wish I could have been alive to see it at it's peak.
Awesome video my friend used to watch the old seaboard system all the time when I was a kid in Maryville TN rolling through with a loaded train of totes as Louisville and Nashville called em lol! Actually they were just piggybacks truck trailers on flatcars tofcs! Great video my friend!!
Please add the section of the tape that includes the interview with Chief Clinchfield Dispatcher Mack Mullen at Dante Yard. That man does not mess around...and this is coming from an NW guy. Classic!!
Seaboard era videos are difficult to find especially since that railroad name was short lived (1983-1986). Many railfans, including myself, took 35mm photos. Not many railfans used video cameras during that era.
LOVE that RS5T horn
If anyone needs to know. This clip is from “Over, Under, Around and Through” from 1984. Great video.
I remember seeing the SCL on the Clinchfield route in Johnson city , Tn. Good memories

I miss seeing this railroad, since CSX took it over
I am just curious, what is the title of this video and who produced it?
Over, Around, and Through I believe is the title and was produced by Lasting Impressions.
That was taken 2 Years before would merge to become the current CSX Transportation.
Yup, it was recorded spring of 1984.
seaboard took over chessie system, seaboard is now known as CSX
Every time I see that church, I wonder of their services ever got "tooted"./
The pastor is a retired Clinchfield Engineer.
