I think it goes without saying that he is simply one of the greatest drummers to ever walk this earth in skill, creativity, execution, awareness, and groove, but that tone... Are you kidding me? Somebody find a snare that sounds better that that simply phenomenal pop. His kit just sounds so ridiculously good every time!
Love Gavin and Bruford, who I saw as a teen with King Crimson in a tour de force concert in Providence RI. I love me some Guy Evans too though. :)@@RefiningFireChiles
I said it on one of the youtube videos and I'll say it again.. he's got everything down: dynamics, technique, speed, precision, feel, groove, musicality, pocket, rudiments, double bass, independence, coordination, polyrhythms, character, versatility, tuning. Plus he seems like a really nice guy. Also his interviews are really informative
what sets Gavin miles apart from most drummers is how he tries to make odd meters sound and feel smooth and palatable to the non musician, instead of big ego look what I can do!
@@dr.strange.2655 gavin is wayy better hes got better groove. I love seeing Gavin in this type scenario.....dont get me wrong he is badass in everything he does but here he's groovin hard and of course his chops are madness as always!!!!
Big fan of Porcupine Tree, and specifically Gavin Harrison. I am happy they parted ways (amicably). It has revealed Gavin's explosive range of percussive expression. We would never have heard this kind of stuff with him still in Porcupine Tree. What a mindblast!
This is amazing. I hear King Crimson and Frank Zappa influences. And Gavin...well, need I say more? He is a genius. In my humble opinion SW made a big mistake not to work with him on HCA.
The new Circles album is great, but if you REALLY want to delve into his best work, check out Drop. It's by 05ric still, but the title track is just killer.
That was funny. I actually like the strange melody over the odd timed tune. Just add that extra layer of awesomeness for me. But "singing a different song over the tune" Hilarious. 8-)
Get over Rics singing for effs sake. These two artists were born to perform together. Search out some if o5rics own stuff. He's a multi-tallented guy. Gavin wouldn't have chosen to work with him if he was no good at what he does. I do agree that live Rics vocals suffer from the lack of layered harmonies the albums have. But this is the joy of live music. The talent on stage here cannot be questioned. Awesome playing. Can't wait for the next tour to see them again or the release of this DVD.
Yeah I'm with Michael O'Neal on this. Plus it would be so much better without that dude singing a different song over the 'toon haha. I know I know that's how it's supposed to be. But dang it gives me a head ache.

The only one that does that on the snare is Bill Bruford who greatly admires Gavin.

I have been playing drums for 32 years Gavin dose not get enough credit he is a heck of a drummer...

He's a world renown drummer with his own signature snare.
Jason Rullo and Gavin Harrisson. The most underrated drummers
@@82manginiwho's underrating them? Give me names.

@@austin5732 I agree I was sarcastic. Gavin is from another planet.
They are both great, but Gavin's drums sound perfect to me

Gavin Harrison is just an amazing drummer. Wow.
That technique...
And a very cool song.
My favourite drummer!!!

GAVIN YOU GOT THAT EXTRA SOMETHING ....I LOVE YOUR TALENT
Well 05Ric writes a great deal of this stuff..Killer singer and drummer and Guitarist/Bass player!
A monster paradigm shift groove.
TSSSS... WHAT A MONSTER THIS MASTER, CLEAN AND PERFECT TIME TO DEVELOP THE BEAT XPRESION, WOW!!
I don't think I have seen Gaven look as happy as he is in this video. He is in his element.
He uses every millimetre of the kit that can be hit. Pure genius
Would love to see the full show being available on Blu-Ray.
Gavin...Whooooooooo...r sooooo good!
Just killer good..!!!
holy shit a Gavin-cam. awesome
gavin,05ric, increible obra maestra ....... son extraordinarios¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¿

At 2:19 Gavin starts the pattern of Circle of Manias by PT
+Koen Maassen that's truè ^_-
Ridiculously well locked beat! Loving the audio mix as well, swell low ends.
Amazing Stuff
Gavin..awesome!!
j'adore
Killer song from a great CD.
I love how it came out to lead on the rim!
This is King Crimson meets Japan! Ric's voice is so David Sylvian!
Thanks for these posts Gavin really appreciate it!
One of my favourite drummers in the world...and I'm a guitar player! Please guys, come to Brazil!!

Amazing playing Gavin ! As always, I hope you'll upload some new videos soon !
My God!!!!🤘
I would still be watching this if it was a gavin chest cam of him eating lunch, then shopping and driving around.
Second video! finally gavin :)

Presenting Gavin Harrison!!!! with......some dudes
Kind of has a King Crimson vibe circa Adrian Belewbut too cool. Man Gavin and this is group is pure Prog 🔥!!!!
Missing this tour was a HUGE mistake. D'oh..!
Accuracy Level OVER 9000!

Agree! Halo was about the only 'drum-fun' song I heard from PT.
He did this while still in PT
I'm hearing a hint of The Crunge somewhere in there.
This is amazing. I hear King Crimson and Frank Zappa influences.
And Gavin...well, need I say more? He is a genius. In my humble opinion SW made a big mistake not to work with him on HCA.
Maybe he did
SW made a bigger mistake focusing on his solo career as opposed to PT
SW ? HCA ?
SW is Steven Wilson's (lead guitarist and singer of Porcupine Tree) initials. I don't know what HCA is. Maybe they meant HCE (Hand. Cannot. Erase.)?
thanks !
Fucking amazing!!!!!!
sweet.
Even better than the record!
9/8, 9/8, 5/8 - 5/8, 3/4... You're welcome
Thank you

Gavin Harrison is a fucking beast on the drums

05Ric has a very Belew style about him...
+grant oehmler and the lead guitarist has a Mike Keneally vibe to him

Circles by him and 05ric is pretty good.
Pretty good?

can you help me with lyrics?

Where is Tiago Coimbra from?
Outer space?
Brazil/England...
Já tinha adivinhado :) England where?
How do you pronounce 05ric?
oh five rick
In a funny way this reminds me of a lighter Animals as Leaders, must be the guitars.
Is this 20" bass drum?
Hmm... looks like the normal 22" he's mostly using. But what do i know?... pfffft. ;-)
quite sure it is
It's a 22" bass drum, it has 10 tuning screws per side. Sonor's SQ2 20" bass drums only have 8.
The singer reminds me of .Engelbert Humperdinck. Ooops i'm showing my age.
Its ok someone has to remember the greats sir
You might also be a teen who's still so blown away by his 2012 Eurovision Song Contest performance 😄😉
I only discovered Engelbert Humperdinck maybe 10 years ago... classic is classic.
I tried tapping my foot to the beat. Didn’t work
its sounds like king krimson
@Aaron Austin there not
That was funny. I actually like the strange melody over the odd timed tune. Just add that extra layer of awesomeness for me. But "singing a different song over the tune" Hilarious. 8-)
Not every kind of music needs singing 😉
these are geat vocals man ....
