That snare hits me straight in my soul.
Besides being a monster player, Gavin always seems to have the most perfect sounding kit. Just. Freakin. Incredible.
Gavin nevers goes out of time, time goes out of Gavin.
It's even more amazing when you consider the fact that he's stated he prefers to feel the time out rather than count every note.

Lily Mu he has also stated in forum replies hat he used to record himself practising with a metronome, then slow the recording down to catch any timing mistakes. If he was off by even a hair of a second, he would practise again and again till he got the timing perfect. Now that's how he got so good! Haha

My personal opinion, is that Gavin Harrison has taken over the throne that Neil Peart has occupied for so many years.

I'm a metal guy to the core. Blast beats, fast double bass and chops are my specialty. But I still find myself listening to this guy in awe. His limb independence and hihat work make me want to practice more thats for sure.

His drumming is complex and includes so many variations, yet so crisp and each note sounds so distinct. Gavin's drumming is so tasty and insanely creative, it is in itself a complete song and doesn't need other instruments. I have observed Danny Carey, Portnoy ....yet Gavin's drumming appears more classy and appeals more to my music sense

This is something you can listen to and casually enjoy and then be like, "oh yeah, it has an amazing drum groove".
21 thumbs down as of 5/5/18??? I am 1000% sure that these aren't and couldn't be drummers; most likely not even musicians, and I am also sure they don't know much about this wonderful instrument either guaranteed.

Gavin Harrison has always cited Simon Phillips as one of his biggest influences, but I've always felt like they've had their own unique styles. The playing here feels very Simon Phillips-y, though!
Him, Tomas Haake and Marco Minneman are the best drummers emerged in the last 40 years, in my opinion.

Some of the rhythms and some parts of the backing track sound like his solo "The Chicken". Some wonderful syncopation and "rhythmic displacement".
I can totally get that he is a hugely advanced drummer, ok. But how the fuck his drums sound always so fucking perfectly awesome?
