@@AdamKirbyMusic I dont think that is the case. He stated on more than one occasion that he loved the interaction and intimacy from the smaller audience in the daily videos. My guess is that a bathroom renovation isn't really video worthy to his channel, so he had just been working on that without filming. 🤷♂️
Possibly concentrating more on his podcasts? Maybe working on a new course? Or he could just have personal stuff going on and doesn't have the time right now. I miss him, too.
I have to say that I do miss seeing you in more videos than you have released lately. It is good to see you again Steve even in a little under 4 minute video.
You know something Steve? You're a bad mamma jamma. You make nice looking stuff and have such a warm, friendly energy. I truly appreciate what you share with the RUclips community. Big ups from Upstate New York ✌️
Great stuff!! Good seeing you again! I have to say, when you were test fitting the pieces, I was thinking, " You know, if the ends were chamfered, it would give it an Arts and Crafts 'look'...". Lo and behold, what do you do...... I was laughing out loud 😂😂😂!!! Cool frame just as is, simple!
So cool how you packed so much info into a "shorter" video. The mirror turned out nice but that bathroom reno looks interesting as well. Hopefully we'll get to see that some time down the road! Have a good one!
I wish I had enough space to start woodworking. But I live in a tiny room, and I'm not allowed to go on the roof ;) Love your videos. Love your spirit.
unless it's sliding and has a depth stop built in, it really isn't feasable to do half laps with a miter saw. if you don't have one, pick up a circular saw, used or new can be pretty cheap
I'd get a cheap router with a straight bit. Using a simple jig to frame your cut area, you can get excellent results. Personally, I think a fixed-base router is a must. Depending on your creativity with jigs and bits, you can do a surprising amount of things.
Smoother, rounded edges are more suited for bulk handling. When selecting multiple 2x4s from the lumber yard, the slightly rounded edges make it easier to pull individual pieces from the stack. Boards with rounded edges are also easier to slide into the back of a truck.
At the end, when he's showing it in the bathroom, it looks like he put a screw in each corner of the frame. I like the way he centered them and made them part of the design. Easy peasy.
Do you often gravitate towards using the tablesaw for crosscuts like in this video? Is there a reason other than the hassle of bringing out the miter saw?
Hi Steve, I’m new to woodworking and really love it. Followed your guide and prepared to get a table saw. But Reddit said jobsite table saws are worthless: not accurate and powerless, is that true?
An old woodworker told me that the "decorative" treatment actually served a different purpose, protected the ends so they didn't get broken or split. And any dings didn't show as much. Miss your videos.
If vampires can't see themselves in mirrors, how come their hair is always perfect? I think their slaves can't see in mirrors, they're the ones who look like they're fresh from an Ozzie mosh pit trying to catch a bat!
Steve, I've been watching you for years. I've been thinking lately "G, Steve must be taking a break". This video popped up in my feed today but I got a feeling I had missed something and went to your channel and looked at your videos. None of your videos for the past 4 to 6 weeks has shown up in my feed… Maybe one or two
We’ve seen you attach two mirrors with glue now. We know you have a point driver. Why not use that to hold the glass in so the wood can flex a bit with less risk of breaking the glass?
Steve this is Mario from UpcycleKaty in Tx. I sent you the HDPE mallet. I hope you got to use it for the chisel work on your mirror? The frame looks great and the project was well done. Take care.
Steve, can you talk about wood movement with this project? I'm never sure when I should be concerned about wood movement or not. Usually with half lap/rabbit type joints there is nothing on the other end so movement is less concerning, but this is has material on the other side. Is it not a concern because it's such a small piece and won't expand much? Also, is movement more of a concern in a sometimes humid environment, like a bathroom?
Steve, Your email subscription system isn't working. That "email verification" thing isn't sending out any email to verify. It's been a couple of weeks now and still no email. And yes, I've checked my "junk mail" folder to be sure it didn't get caught in there either.
0:33 - that stuck piece looked scary! 2:50 - is that the same old Porter Cable router you got long-long time ago!? The lumber is bending a little, not 100% straight, won't that be a problem? 3:43 - is that the same bathroom where you had the book-nook?
Steve, where have you been!?! I'm in daily video release withdrawal!
He's burning out.

Looks great! I really liked your idea of overhang on the half laps, nice touch.

Two videos last week.
Another great project from WWMM...and the chamfer is EXTRA fancy
Nice! I like that you used the feather board you made.
I noticed that as well Robert! :D Have a good one.

Glad you’re back. The frame looked great
Miss your regular uploads, thanks for posting!
Lovely project. Nice touch with the little chamfers 👌
Looks great, Steve.
I missed this Steve! Beautiful mirror!
I've been wanting to hang a mirror that my mom gave me and this would do the trick. Very helpful and good to see you again.
Great stuff!! Good seeing you again!

Good to see you back! You sound a little snuffly, hope you're feeling well.
Thanks Steve! This is a perfect project for the frameless IKEA mirror I bought recently. To the garage...
Great stuff, Steve! I always enjoy watching your videos.
Very nice Steve! Great video, Like others have said look forward to more like this one.
Looks great Steve! Love the half lap look
A nice fun project. Look like mission details on the frame
I've always wondered about using a router on those corners. Thanks for showing the chiseling.
Not the case for glass/mirrors but rounding the corners of the inset piece can be considerable easier.
Nice and simple and nice.
Will you be showing the full bathroom remodel? I’d love to see a few videos on it.
Yeah the bathroom looks great, I'd love to see how it got there.
I wish I had enough space to start woodworking. But I live in a tiny room, and I'm not allowed to go on the roof ;)

Looking good! Happy to see another video!
Very nice job!
That came out great Steve! 👍👍👏👏
Snazzy 💕👍
Love you Steve!
which rabbit bit did you use without a fence? trying to figure that out
Steve is running the piece against pilot bearing. Same when doing the bevel.
The bit has a little bearing on the dingus end that rides against the flat surface of the board, preventing the bit going farther into the material.
Very nice, sir!
Nice job!
Masterclass - you're able to fit so much into a little under four minutes
I wanna make half-laps but I only have a mitre saw - any tips on how to do that?

Great vid. How did you attach it to the wall?

I like the way you made the extra length of the stiles and rails a design feature. The next fame needs a bead moulding added in some how.
Very Cool!!! Thank You Steve!!! 👍😎😃
I know it’s a bit off topic, but what size screws would you use to help strengthen a half lap joint with 2x4’s?
Hey Steve, can you do a #shorts on glue? I’m new and either put too much or too little... I do use a glubot and TB3
Another great video.
Nice build
Extra Fancy!
OCD, I need those screws covered up. Nice to see you again, Steve, tells us what your up to! New course?
You added screws !!!! I saw it !!! hahaha. Great video, as always !
Can those dado cuts be made with a router?
Genuinely surprised to NOT see a Catalina wall cabinet above the toilet.
That’s nice work.
I need to make a frame for my mirror as well. How did you attach it to the wall?
At the end, when he's showing it in the bathroom, it looks like he put a screw in each corner of the frame. I like the way he centered them and made them part of the design. Easy peasy.

As a general principle, this channel focuses on using only a few high-utility tools to keep the barrier to entry low.
Looks nice 👍🏽
Nice!

Hey Steve. do you have a diy slant board video if not could you consider making one. thanks!
Actually, that was rather simple but the half-lap extension made all the difference.
Must store that idea away for future use.
Huh, I never thought of using a chamfer as a decorative element. Nice. Also, I didn't know that it is called a chamfer until two minutes ago.
Good , you examples of you works give us ' the DIY - good things. to do in the Elderly Dept. Bronx ,NY City Thanks May 17\ 2021
Hi Steve. I just discovered your videos. Question: what brand / model is the table saw miter you use? My old Craftsman needs an upgrade. Thanks !!
nice!

Nice
Looks great... where have you been, dude?
I liked this video more than those lengthy carpentry ones.
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
I´d love to be able to get dado blades. they make rabbets and dados a breeze.
the dudes that disliked this video might be vampires and thus find mirrors useless... 😂
Its because he violated safety rules by using the table saw fence and the miter gauge at the same time...
@@starhawke380 he used dado blades for half lap joints, and vampires are europeans...

Now you just need to build some guests out of wood and you can call this project a wrap.

Thanks for the video response! Haha. Not sure if you had that planned or not, but thanks!
2:38 ooooo... action shot!
More like Money shot!!!
Always a trepidation seeing a new video. Thank you Mr. Ramsay From Québec, Canada!
Won't it be a problem that there was already paint in the rabbet when you put the adhesive there? Obviously this will not be under a lot of stress.
The fit didn't look too tight to me. If the adhesive can fill the gap and stick to all surfaces, it should be fine.
So nice to see you in a watchable horizontal oriented video #hateshorts
When your testrun is perfect ... you're underestimating yourself .
OMG Steve used a chisel!
Bloody dado blades, 🤷🏻♂️ what are we simple brits to do !
I guess just loads and loads and loads more passes 👍
What size router but did you use for the rabbet?
Not my style at all, but I do love the attention to detail and the thoughtful approach! I’ve learned a lot from this channel! 😊
didn't you remodel that bathroom a few years ago?
👍👊👏👍👊👏👍👊👏🇧🇷💯
I think I speak for many…thanks for proper attire in the closing shot…things could’ve gotten way outta “pg” status there! 😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️
Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the worst gluer of them all? 😜
Are you intentionally pursuing the shorter format?
You don’t cutt corners when it coms to chamfer

I appriaciate the camera work in all the videos, but not doing some impossible camera shot like in Contact seems like a missed opportunity here ;-)
You remind me of the father in modern family. I like that actor so I hope bo offense is taken. (edit spelling)
Getting sloppy Steve. I could see the camera guy in the reflection of the mirror.
Chamfers are what set us apart from the animals.

did i miss an update or something. i feel like its been forever since theres been a vlog style video. just a bunch of these shorts.

Forty First...
Not first
Not first either
You must be loaded if you can afford test pieces 🤣😂
Did you just violate your own advice on NOT using the rip fence and the miter fence at the SAME TIME??
Relax. A dado doesn't cut all the way through. No cutoff to get trapped and kick back.
First.
