Bob, you continue to impress me! In this case, I really appreciate how you were honest and reasonable in your expectations, given you asked for the cheapest job. So many people would do that and still expect absolute perfection. This is just another example of your generous spirit!

Yeah, it looks terrific. We've seen it in clips and I'm impressed. Sage is a perfect name and yeah, sand would have been a good choice as well for discrete camping but the green will be good in forest as well as desert - so perhaps a better choice. It certainly toned down the ambulance look and if anyone is going over it with a magnifying glass, they are just looking to complain. It looks great from a few feet back and if you are bothered by a bit of red here and there, take a scrap of it into a paint store where they can match it. But frankly, we wouldn't have noticed those tiny bits if you hadn't pointed them out. The sides of the doors look like a hidden accent color - nice choice Bob. You found a good compromise.

I like the idea of the wrap and I like the color. When I heard you say that you thought of LineX it reminded me of my first car. Back in 1982 I bought my first car, a burnt red 1975 Dodge Monaco, from one of my friends. He had done body filler in places and spayed flat black primer over the patches. After a few months I decided I needed to protect the sheet metal from salty winter roads. LineX did not exist at that time so I bought a gallon of Tremclad rust paint some masking tape a paint brush and a roller. In my parents back yard I started painting the car. When my father came home from work and saw what I was doing he started laughing and asked what I was doing! After I explained he picked up the paint brush and helped me. It turned out surprisingly nice. I used to drive out in the woods a lot and the branches hardly scratched the paint but when it did I simply pulled out the can and painted over the scratches leaving no trace. The paint job held up very well for years and it cost me less than $50.

It looks good and yeah I'd call that a sage color. Watching your videos all these years is why I wondered how long your rig would stay red. You would not have liked sticking out like a sore thumb in the desert.
I did do vinyl work for a few years through a company up in Wisconsin. We did body work and vinyl on tool and beer trucks and semis. The vinyl will stand up to a lot of punishment if installed correctly. It's a rewarding job. Lots of the work we did was repairing and replacing the old vinyl and paint and body work. Now the climate I live in is colder. There's road salt and below zero temps. The summertime can also be punishing. Besides wear and tear and the occasional "oops" made by the driver, fading was main reason why trucks came in a few years down the road for rewraps.
Now I worked for an old school boss. He taught me a lot as far as this kind of work goes. I'm nowhere on that top tier level as most of the guys on the crew were. I was more like the apprentice or the aid. Washing, removing the old panels, prepping, dusting, taping off, helping hang and then install the panels.
Overall the rig looks nice enough. The color suits you. When you panned over some of the spots though I'm going to be honest. The splicing gaps would have never passed. I'm definitely not picking on your rig now. That was real sloppy knife work. I would have had my butt chewed out if I had tried to pass that off on a customer regardless if whether you asked it'd be a cheap job. That was either rushing, inexperience, or not giving a f***. Even with the best of experience sometimes gaps happen because of how the body is (bends, curves) and how the panel lays. My boss had us hang the panels overnight on the truck before applying it for a cleaner fit. The gaps by the wheel wells should have been covered. When laying on the vinyl it gets worked with a flat wide plastic tool. It pushes out the air and helps it stretch correctly and conform to the bends and curves. The gaps were caused by slips with the knife by not taking the time on slicing it carefully and in full control of the blade in the first place and/or inexperience. Using spare bits could have cleaned it up some too.
Doing the insides of doors isn't done because opening and closing the doors just damages it. To match the wrap, doors were pulled and repainted, never wrapped, or just left alone per customer request. Also, pulling the lights and other attachments are part of the job so as to not have exposed paint around the housings. Anyways, my jobs on the trucks were after the trucks were repaired, that they were washed, prepped to remove any dust before applying any wrap. Parts (lights, covers, screws, what have you) catalogued. Rust spots buffed out and repainted. If left those bubbles under the vinyl keeps rusting. It eventually causes that area under the vinyl to lift. LIt's not just about making the rig "pretty", it was about not furthering rust damage to the body and vinyl. Part of the job. I remember that was the part I hated. Getting down on my knees and taping off the tires. 😆 You also should have gotten the spare bits in case you do get some gouge or what have you. Instead of using paint, you use those bits to splice in the repairs either on your own or taking it in. We had the bits in folders marked by truck in case we had a gouge or lift happen.
I'm not picking on your wrap as I think your rig looks rather good. It's just that I don't think the business's final check should have passed all that off. There's a difference between a cheaper no frills job and... Well... This.
    Be safe out there.

You can always get some paint matched to the color of the wrap and do some touching up over the red. Because, the red really stands out and calls attention to every flaw in the wrap. But, even some cheap automotive quality paint would help the appearance a lot.

I like the color. It's the color of the sage I grew in my garden. It looks great on your ambulance, and does look military / forest service. Thanks for discussing the options. I never knew Line X could be used for anything but truck bed liners. I sure didn't know that it came in spray cans so you could do it yourself. Fascinating how they can do that without bubbling. Nice to know you can choose to spend less money for less detailed work. It's ok that there is some red left, but it's not visible from the outside, so it's all good. You didn't want a bright red vehicle in stealth desert / forest boondocking, and that's what you've achieved. Honestly, I think I'd leave the red, blue, and yellow caps the way they are. I think they look good that way.

I really think the work done and the end result are great. The fact that it can be easily repaired and even redone is phenomenal. The bits of red that show wouldn’t bother me either. the benefit of the color you chose is that, when you’re in the woods, the truck will blend in much more easily.
