- GET FAMILIAR WITH THESE CORE NOTE VALUES! 🎶
If you like a good #rhythmchallenge, then understanding note values is essential for staying on beat, on time, and nailing rhythms! Cass is demonstrating four basic note values in 4:4 timing.
1️⃣ Quarter note
2️⃣ 8th note
3️⃣ Triplet
4️⃣ 16th note
Give it a go with this beginner-friendly challenge. Perfect for those new to music theory! 🚀 #rhythm #notevalues #music #melodics #shorts #musictheory #musicnotes
The triplets are wrong, they should sound evenly spaced.
@user-wx1fk7bo9r An accent shouldn't change the timing, only the loudness. It's the timing that's wrong.
that's right
Would a triplet sound like waltz timing? Just learning.
Correct!! I thought so
@@lizhunter-smith878 kind of... Think of it like a ¾ time signature however, the 3 beats would equal to 1 beat
this is the first video iv found that actually helped me get the 8th note triplet
So glad it's helped! :D Try our rhythm challenges to put it into practice 😎

@@MelodicshqSoo I tought the note that divides a quarter into three was called a quarter note triplet.
But someone said that its actually caled an eight note triplet and it made me angry ?
What do you call the note that divides the 4 note in 3 ?
pity it's not correct the notes should be as even as the resst of the them... but yeah think 1 trip let 2 trip let is the best way to get that feel
@@originalname7176Howdy! Music teacher here; I see no one has responded to you so I wanted to say that 3 quarter note triplets would add up to the length of time of a half note. If you have trouble remembering, just remember that each note length can be divided to get to the tier below it (half notes get divided into quarters, quarters get divided into eighths, and so on). It works the same way for triplets, it's just that we are changing the number we are dividing by from 2 to 3.
Finally the penny dropped in my mind. Sometimes these short videos mean a lot than the long videos trying to explain, it left me more confused. It's a lot clearer to me now. Thankyou.
I agree with you 😅
The same , i like simplification
Triplets played aren’t triplets since the beat isn’t divided evenly, it’s syncopated. Everything else is great 👍
Something to practice! 🫡
Triplet one is wrong ur doing it accented on the first note( i think i learn by ear)
I was wondering the same. I am not a drummer just to clarify.
It did sound accented/extended on the one- like:
onnnnne two three, onnnne two three.
🤔
Right. It's a dotted eight/sixteenth note she's playing. It's a common mix up.
@@mr.longstreet6194someone else noticed 🙏🏽😅
Wow this is when I realize I don't know music technically as well as musicians but I do know when music is more technically complex like the 3 here or Dave Brubeck's Take 5.
No is going to talk about how she is playing the claves .... she's holding them wrong that's why is giving a dead wood tone
Noted! 🫡
Lightbulb clicked on! 💡!
I get it now!! 🎯 Thank you 🥹
Thankful for this❤❤❤❤
As a visual learner, this was REALLY helpful. I could focus on sticking the sound to the written symbol, without having to process a lot of talking at the same time. 👍🙏☕⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks a lot for sharing this!
Glad you liked it!
Oh God.... Thank you!!!!!! ❤ The less complicated the video the easier it is to understand.
Glad it helped! ❤️
NOW I UNDERSTAND OML
For all this time, I never understood what a beat is, even when I google it doesnt say it directly nor give a good example UNTIL THIS VIDEO
Its so cool! I'm wondering if you guys have same videos of other notes like an octave, half note, etc? This kind of visual/auditory example helps me a lot to really understand things XD
I understood everything with this video. Awesome job
Wow, this really taught me
✅🙌
Thank you. That's what I mean when I say easy to understand yet very technical🙏🏻
your triplet part is not correct
Yep, triplets are supposed to be of equal value, and it is a different rhythm that is played here - a quite common mistake when trying to play triplets I think.
Their triplets were, “son clave.” Lol [332] of 32nd notes.
Big help, Thank you!

You could call the first one tea
Second co-fee
Third le-mo-nade
Forth co-ca -cola
Edit-mA I’m fAmOuS!
like syllables
As someone who has been playing piano, guitar, trombone, drums and ukulele for a year you have no idea how much this helped me
Hi Corinne , from your example I have grasped the rhythm more correctly and will share it to others and have fun all the way through the process . Thanks .
Awesome
🔥 💥
Wish I had seen that 45 years ago !
looks simple but its my weakness
You can do it!
Triplet is wrong. Count (ta ki da) 1 2 3
Something to practice! 💥 🫡
Waw I DID NOT NOW HOW TO DO THAT,NOW I UNDERSTAND A LITTLE BETTER
It is the basic way of understanding the notes values or equivalent counts.
Finally thank you, most lf these RUclipsrs are just talking to talk 💀😭
if you are struggling with understanding or processing triplets listen to a drummer play triplets to a metronome, or maybe a guitarist shredding using triplets
Very good instruction..
Grape / Lem-on / straw-ber-ry / water-mel-on
Amazing! 🍓 💛
Awesome sizzles
😎
This the one
Great video
Tokyo drift rollingggggggggg......!
I think the triplet should be written as quarter notes, to be consistent with the metric value:
The quarter notes are on every beat;
The eighths are counted one and, two and, et cetera, two to a tick.
The triplets should be 3 to a tick.
That is, ta ta ta, ta ta ta, et cetera.
But you articulate them as quarter note triplets that is,
Two sets of three for every measure.
It should be doubled.
Excellent. Triplets are wrong. Guy already said.
Definitely room for practice and improvement!
Try playing 8th or 16th notes in the air or in your head to keep time better
4x1 4x2 4x3 4x4
🧠
I should go make music now
This would have been fun at school.
Ensinamento prático
The 3 quavers sounded slightly syncopated until the last beat. Did I imagine that or did you alter it at the end?
2️⃣8️⃣Ⓜ️🧢
Triples notes sounds like groups of tree sixteenths notes (3’s) or almost a 5:3 😮
We need to fix these with a Melodics lesson!
Is this the new mandatory entry for a festival?!
😂
Nice
Super méthode 👍👍👍
MARÇAAAAAAAAAAAAAL
your triplets are actually swing lol
They need some work!
This is more understandable
Good
Cool, the triples need to be perfected but overall great!
Very simple tricks
We learned this pretty early in grade school
4th one is 16
Sounded like Carol of the bells when she played the two with three idk what they are called
Good if it's your first time
It was!
wasn’t it !. !. ! instead of a triplet ?
❤❤
Tripplet sounds like a 2.5 instead of a 3
After this ritual you were cursed.
Triplet is jersey club style 😂
Electroooo si no fuera por el tercero xD
3/4
Beat have to improve
Yeah! We're working on it 😅
당신의 triplet은 틀렸습니다. 당신이 연주한 것은 triplet이 아니라 16분음표의 3/3/2 연주법입니다.
