Yum! That would work! That reminds me of my mom making cinnamon toast when we were kids. I specifically link that memory to coming in from sledding in the winter. Funny hey?
I made your black bean and sweet potato quesadillas as an after school snack the other day and my kids loved them! I used the mini street taco size tortillas. Highly recommend! Appetizer size;) I did one thing differently is that I baked the sweet potato and made a mash and then added that to the beans. I didn’t want to grate sweet potato😂 It worked fantastic! Now I need to freeze bags of these! I also need to try the black bean and corn😊
If you freeze the brie for a little bit, it cubes much easier. Also, try oiling the blade of your knife. It stops the sticking. This looks so yummy! Great job, yet again ladies. ❤
I do have my homemade flaky layered butteemilk biscuits in the freezer right now, but it is the ONLY freezer "meal" I have in the freezer 😂. But I've been binging you guys today and I'm inspired.
I bet the biscuits are going to be amazing! You should definitely try a few of our recipes. We love having the biscuits with corn chowder or pesto minestrone. 😋
My husband pours the green cap powdered Parmesan cheese in the pan under the grilled cheese sandwich, each side, as he cooks it. Improves the flavor!!!
I have a feeling it'll appear soon but I don't mind giving you a sneak peek: Aunty Doris' Baking Powder Biscuits 3 cups flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed 1 Tbsp. bacon drippings 2 Tbsp. sugar 1 1/4 cups milk Melt 2-3 more Tbsp. of drippings in a pan (cookie sheet). Mix first six ingredients together until it's evenly chunky (if that makes sense). Add milk and knead. Turn out onto floured cupboard; pat flat with hands and fold in half. Pat flat again until it's about 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Dip tops of biscuits in drippings in the pan and then turn over. Rest pan for 15 minutes on cupboard. Bake at 400°F for 18-20 minutes. My mom always bumped the biscuits together but I like to leave a little bit of room in between them. We would sometimes add 1 cup shredded cheese or 1/4 cup chopped chives in before the milk. Enjoy!
Just discovered you ladies yesterday and I'm so so glad. Would y'all ever have a cookbook coming out or will you just be sticking to the wonderful website you have? Cuz I would preorder your cookbook SO quick.
I love to hear that! Welcome to the channel. Never say never - we would love to do a cookbook some day. In the meantime you can check out our Meal Plan PDFs (which include a couple of Dump Recipe cookbooks): freezermeals101.com/product-category/freezer-meal-plans/
I recently saw another video (sorry I can't remember who it was) where a woman from Australia or New Zealand made grilled cheese to freeze in preparation for an upcoming surgery. She made a variety of sandwiches including one with ham and pineapple which was a new idea to me. She wrapped each sandwich in waxed paper and then when she pulled them out to cook them she left them wrapped and used a countertop grill (like a George Forman grill) to cook them and there was no mess because the waxed paper kept all the butter/ cheese contained. I thought it was a great idea.
That is pretty clever! I like the grill idea - like a personal panini sandwich whenever you want! I wouldn't have thought to make a ham and pineapple sandwich. lol It must be more populare where you can get super fresh pineapples all the time.
Ok ladies here’s a challenge for ya! I take food to a food pantry and am very surprised at the number of ppl that don’t know how to come up with a meal. They pick up the tuna helper hamburger helper etc but I want to do some “meals in a bag” and include recipe cards. Now these foods have to be shelf stable and definitely budget friendly. Things in my state have to be in original packaging for example if the recipe calls for 1 cup rice I have to give them a pound of rice because that is the smallest I can find
You know what??? Challenge accepted. I really love this idea. And I love that you do that! It's so thoughtful. I have seen rice in smaller packages at the dollar store. I don't know how you feel about dollar store rice, but I've used it and it's good. We definitely have "pantry-only" videos - I'll link a few to inspire you! ruclips.net/video/NMC1FA6hl34/видео.htmlsi=bQMOEMkUROmD8rml ruclips.net/video/04zijeZwHeU/видео.htmlsi=eCNc5-Q-bqA5ZpCV ruclips.net/video/QQy7Eljph-U/видео.htmlsi=sZ0v_77sxQKeY4D2
I cannot wait to try the Carrot Orange Brie soup! I love everything! Even things I wasn't raised on and i have raised my son to love it all too. I actually love the Anthony Bourdain food. I think one thing in America, that i never did my son, but is common, it's that people in America tend to feed children a lot of bland, highly processed food because for some reason they think kids need separate food that is beige and bland. It's also just so unhealthy for them. My son is 16 and will eat all the animal parts and all the seafood and all the veggies and all the grains. His nurse asked him what his favorite food was and he told her it was spinach and seaweed 😂. If I don't like the taste of a food, it tends to be things this like American cheese, canned soups, etc.
That is super interesting. I've heard that as well about feeding kids a 'grown up' diet from an early age. They are much less picky. I always think of the little kids in India that eat spicy food. My tastes have broadened over the years but there are a few things I'm stuck on. lol
@FreezerMeals101 I tiredly get it. A lit of food has strong flavors. I also fed .y son less sweet veggies when I started him on solids, and no juice until he was much older. Much of the rain kids on a standard American diet don't like a lot of food is that their taste buds get used to little flavor (white flour noodles, chicken nuggets, white bread, etc) and a lot of that has added sugar too. I fed my son quinoa, ask the veggies, and not just the sweet veggies like corn and sweet potatoes. It just made sense to me. Ijus5 never understood the reasoning behind adult food and kid food. And now he eats almost everything.
I haven't had a Grilled Cheese Sandwich in 100 years! But man, it sounds really good about now. I make a bunch of sandwiches and stack them in sandwich bags in the refrigerator, After a couple of days I check on them and they are usually gone. Guys! Guys will eat anything that they don't have to make! Once I learned that....here I am making FMs! I love you ladies! Keep it soupy!
I never learned to make biscuits like my mother made. However, there used to be the biscuits recipe on the back of the label on clabber girl baking powder. But I buy frozen biscuits and put them in the oven and then turn the oven on, they turn out fine.
I personally liked the look of the curry lentil soup, before blending. However, I think blending it would result in a better texture. Also, I would add prawns after blending.
If you're a lentil lover, it would be fine to leave it without blending. If you need to 'hide the lentils' then yes, blending it is the way to go. Great idea on the prawns!
(Sharla here) I did a baby food video a few years ago using some of Christie's baby food recipes actually but I had planned to do a follow up one with food for older babies but never did. Christie has some great recipes for it! ruclips.net/video/3irmJkUv0Zw/видео.html
Ooh - Recipe idea to try for the club: Chicken pot pie but with freezer biscuits! I’ve been contemplating trying this on my own for some time (With maybe my homemade sourdough biscuits) but not sure if it would be best to freeze the filling and biscuits separate (but kept together), I know there’s also the mini-pot pies in the club. Has anyone ever tried this for the freezer?
We haven't tried it with freezer biscuits, but I don't see why you couldn't. I would make the pies and then freeze them. Cook them when you need them. Good luck! If you do it, let us know!
How would you serve these biscuits (or similar, I saw the note they were too salty)? We don’t really have an equivalent here (🇦🇺) unless you count plain scones, but I suspect they aren’t treated the same by people who have both options as part of their repertoire (we would put jam and whipped cream on scones)
Jam on buscuits is pretty good! So is maple syrup or honey. They also work nicely with gravy or soup. My family would make them if we were having stew, soup, chili, anything with a gravy so you could sop it up with the biscuit. So versatile! One commenter said they are a cross between a scone and a dumpling and that's not too far off...
We haven't because we only use them to freeze saucy meals into cubes. I'm not sure off the top of my head if they are rated for cooking. We make meatloaf muffins, so we haven't had a need for smaller meatloaves.
Question: Can I switch out Butter for Mayo? I don't use butter for my Grilled Cheese, bc it will burn. I use Mayo instead, it has a Higher smoke point and neutral flavor when grilled up. Will a thin layer of Mayo freeze?
So, I have a story to share with you (no judgement here). Frozen sandwiches bring back bad memories for some of us. My friend's mother made 15 sandwiches on Sunday evening and then froze them, so she wouldn't have to make 3 sandwiches every evening. She did this for a solid 9 years. By Wednesday, her kids threw aways there sandwiches at lunch time because they were soggy and just ate the other food. She couldn't figure out why the kids were so hungry when they came home from school. (The lunch monitors really didn't monitor what the kids ate or threw out). My friend told me she would never make her kids eat premade frozen sandwiches and that her mother could have made 3 fresh sandwiches each evening because she didn't work outside the home- her words). To this day, she had no idea that her children wasted all that food. And, my friend felt her mother was just plain lazy and wanted to watch television each evening and sit on the couch. My friend does make fresh lunches each evening for her children and when she thinks about the soggy sandwiches she still gets upset. It's been the siblings secret for decades now. LOL
Aw! Your poor friend! I've heard of people freezing a bunch of sandwiches but never thought about the logistics of it. The good news is that these grilled cheese sandwiches will be cooked fresh, so they won't be disappointing!
My mom always made grilled cheese , 8 at a time on a cookie sheet under the broiler. Quick easy meal.
Yum! That would work! That reminds me of my mom making cinnamon toast when we were kids. I specifically link that memory to coming in from sledding in the winter. Funny hey?

I loved that you shared the YES moment 🎉.
It would be great to see your reactions to a NOPE 👎🏼 moment too.
That's fair! If we film one, we'll share it with you.
If you freeze the brie for a little bit, it cubes much easier. Also, try oiling the blade of your knife. It stops the sticking. This looks so yummy! Great job, yet again ladies. ❤
THANK YOU!! I will try that next time!

@@FreezerMeals101 Yum!
My husband pours the green cap powdered Parmesan cheese in the pan under the grilled cheese sandwich, each side, as he cooks it. Improves the flavor!!!
Huh! That is a pretty great idea! I bet it would make it nice and crispy too!
I want that bacon dripping biscuit recipe!!! Pleeeease?
I have a feeling it'll appear soon but I don't mind giving you a sneak peek:

Another wonderful video!
OMG! Christy, you and I could be sisters! I love my salt. LOL! Great video ladies.

I was going to suggest mayo as well. It's so much faster to spread (use the back of a spoon) and you can add garlic to the mayo for extra flavour.
My mother always made her biscuits in the flour bowl, just made a little well and made them right in the center of the flour.
She is a legend! Just my aunt!
I cannot wait to try the Carrot Orange Brie soup! I love everything! Even things I wasn't raised on and i have raised my son to love it all too. I actually love the Anthony Bourdain food.

Souper cube lasagna?! Brilliant!

I feel the same way about strawberry jam. I can buy it at the store and it's lovely. I don't need to know how to make it. lol

I really wanted to tell you to make the cheese sandwiches and then butter both sides of the bread ...much quicker😊
You butter the bread where the cheese is going to go?
You should do a baby food video:) I'm no happily no longer in that stage of life, but still it sticks with me and i wish i had you!

oo la la! Yes! That sounds delish!

Brie and apple grilled cheese. Mmm. Not sure how well that would freeze because of apple browning though
Agreed. It's a better option fresh.
Do use souper cubes for meatloaf?
We haven't because we only use them to freeze saucy meals into cubes. I'm not sure off the top of my head if they are rated for cooking. We make meatloaf muffins, so we haven't had a need for smaller meatloaves.
but how does the carrot soup compare to the inspiration carrot soup?
Christie here - I'm still a fan of the original, but the new one is excellent too!
Question: Can I switch out Butter for Mayo?
I don't use butter for my Grilled Cheese, bc it will burn. I use Mayo instead, it has a Higher smoke point and neutral flavor when grilled up.
Will a thin layer of Mayo freeze?
We have not had good luck with freezing mayo so I would say probably no, but you could always try it with just one sandwich as an experiment and see.
Wait, is this the "grass" chives? 😂
I can't even! 🤣🤣🤣
