      Err 30 is "Malfunctions related to the shutter have been detected.". That error code has happened to me twice, and both times it was from a tear in one of the shutter curtains preventing the shutter from opening or closing properly.

    have you encounter wifi not working on 6d camera? when i turned on wifi, screen was stuck,

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  3 года назад

      No I haven't run into that problem, but I don't use the WiFi feature all that much either. Looking online I see that particular problem appearing a lot, with some different ways to address it. Some people cleared the WiFi settings on the camera and then set it up again, and that fixed it. Others said downloading a new app for the device they are connecting to fixed it for them. They also had to rename the camera in the settings when they did that. Have you tried either of these methods yet?
      Also, I did see where another person was able to get their WiFi running again using this method. Here's their post:
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Re: EOS 6D wifi just stopped working
      I figured it out! Not sure if this is a design flaw or what but if I have wifi enabled then select the Q menu and go to the wifi icon and select it then choose connect to device it works. Seems a little wierd, I would think the wifi function menue should override this especially when all wifi setting are reset but I guess not. Hopefully this helps someone else down the road.

      Let me know how you make out with this problem.

      Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the 5D series at all. If the power switch is anything like the power switch on a 6D, then you will need to remove the top part of the camera to get access to the underside. From there hopefully you can see what may be the problem with the switch. Here's a link to the location in video #1 that shows the underside of the switch when the top is removed. It also shows all of the needed steps prior to geting there. ruclips.net/video/tUl9cV5GA4M/видео.html Good luck with it!

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  2 года назад

      Hi Pavel. The first thing that I would check is the connection of the flat ribbon cable to the metal plate which goes inside the battery compartment. Here is a link to video #5 which shows the flat ribbon cable being reconnected: ruclips.net/video/k7vD49HkeqE/видео.html. The piece of metal that the flat ribbon cable makes contact with goes inside the battery compartment and makes contact with the battery. It is used to get information back from the battery about it's current voltage level. If the flat ribbon cable is not properly connected to it, then it cannot read the battery condition. Double check that connection, and also visually check to make sure that are aren't any tears in the flat ribbon cable at all. That would also create the same problem. Hopefully it's just a simple problem and easily fixed. Let me know what you find.

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  Год назад

      Can you post a picture of it? Unless something has fallen inside the camera, it does sound like it's something to do with the shutter curtains. There are a couple of very small springs that are used on the curtains, and they sometimes break and can then tear the curtains.

      @Morbid_Tom432 Год назад

      @@Thebobfactor thanks for reply, it seemed to want to go back down when I pushed it gently.S can't get a photo unfortunately... It looked like the small metal bit on the shutter blades/wipers(with the hole) as I was looking at the images and the video to see which bit it was! The shutter does seem to work ok. Do those metal arms become disaligned or stick occasionally? So I was right in thinking it shouldn't be there? The autofocus does seem to work better now.

    • @mikek24a
      @mikek24a 3 года назад

      If the mechanism is still jammed (causing ERROR 20-generic code for camera malfunction), then very likely the charge motor that drives the shutter to open and the mirror to flip up is jamming. This is indicative of a faulty shutter unit (the magnetic and gear parts of the shutter mechanism other than the blades).

The shutter unit on my A7III broke just after 14 months of use, which is 2 months outside my warranty. I moved from Canon to Sony just last year. Hi K9-Unit. I've often thought about getting a Sony A7 or A7R camera for myself. It's a shame that you only got 14 months of use before a major repair was needed though. I've never worked on one, but I might take a look for a broken one on ebay to practice on sometime.

    Robert, I called canon parts today and asked them about replacing the optical viewfinder. She told me that I couldn’t order that part because it came with the mirror box assembly (my optical viewfinder is scuffed bad). Do you have any insight on replacing that small piece of glass (or plastic)?

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  4 года назад +2

      Hi Anthony. I haven't worked on that part on a 6D before, but I did just recently remove the viewfinder lens to get in behind it on a 60D. They are not identical, but I think they are close. You will need to tear down the camera far enough to where you can remove both the back panel, and the top part. I believe from that point you will have access all of the screws that hold the viewfinder lens piece on. There is a spring and other loose parts inside the viewfinder box, so just be careful when removing it. The tough part will be finding just the viewfinder lens though. I looked on Ebay and I don't see any that are listed. Generally it only comes with a mirror box assembly.
      Here's a link the first video in this series that shows how far you will need to tear the camera down to get access to the screws. ruclips.net/video/tUl9cV5GA4M/видео.html
      Good luck with it Anthony. Let me know how you make out on it, or if you run into any problems.

      Thank you for your reply Robert! I was able to find the lens from a distributor in China. I received it yesterday and put it in today. The lens is crystal clear and looks good and you were right there was a spring another loose parts when tearing it down further. I have everything assembled again thanks to your videos. The only issue that I have now is that the diopter is not actually adjusting the focus of the optical viewfinder anymore when i turn it. I was fairly meticulous about putting things back together but may have overlooked something. It looks like I’m going to have to tear it all apart again and see where I went wrong. Do you have a video or any diagrams that show a diopter repair?

    I'm trying to figure out why my 7D's shutter is stuck closed with back curtain unfolded. I drive the motor but it only "clicks" the closed curtain trying to move it with no results. Curtains have no damage. Didn't you stumble upon such problem? What might cause it? I'll be extremely glad if you can share your thoughts)
    Also I wonder, the detail you show at 5:25 - I've got only ONE of these. And where is it intended to go - quite a mystery :D

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  3 года назад

      I've yet to work on a 7D Inten, so I'm not familiar with the shutter system at all. I would guess that the piece shown at 5:25 would do the same thing on a 7D that it is doing on the 6D, which is to go across the ends of the curtain blades. And if you are hearing a clicking noise when the motor runs, then it shows that the problem is definitely mechanical and not electrical. Have you removed the shutter assembly and disassembled it?

      @ЭтоДрючинский 3 года назад

      @@Thebobfactor it looks pretty familiar to this 6D's one. Yes, I dissembled it, but didn't mess with the main mechanics unit which is driven by the motor - which is the part causing this problem I bet. Hi, I bought a 7D for 40$ with what seems the same problem. I got as far as to be able to drive the motor with 5V but I have no idea what is normal operation. Does running the motor alone make the shutter cycle completely (open and close) or there's extra actuation needed like a solenoid release? Because I hear clicking but shutters are not opening. If I manage to open them manually, running the motor will close them back and then clicks.

    • @ЭтоДрючинский
      @ЭтоДрючинский Год назад

      @@repairtech9320 hi! Driving the motor makes the upper (?) curtain cycle, but another one stays closed as solenoid is holding it. You can tackle the lower lever with a toothpick to unlock it, than cycling the motor will move the curtain and than lock it again.
      But beware - calibrating sensor position back once it’s disassembled is enormously difficult! I did it and almost succeeded (had to set af calibration to -14 though, as it’s the closest position I could achieve and not screw the planarness at the same time)
