Thanks for your honest work! Do not buy the Halo Collar. It shocks my dog inside more than outside, the battery life is horrible, the customer service is impossible to access, and their return policy is terrible. It's a shame Caesar Milan has associated his brand with this one. Return it if you're still within the window. You'll thank me later.
One big problem with Spoton or Halo..... you have to have cell service to allow the location feature to work. We do not have cell service where we live so you can use the GPS fence feature but not the locate feature. We have 20 acres...... I have tried to get the tech folks at Spoton to call me with no luck. Obviously they are not interested in my comments or suggestions on how to improve their products.
Yeah there’s not much they can do for that, you’d have to get more cell towers near you, I live in a city… No cell service inside my apartment… but go outside to the end of the corner maybe 50 ft and you’re fine lol it’s annoying I’m pretty sure it’s on purpose to make you buy
Here’s a clearer way to phrase your question: “I have a long and narrow yard that is approximately 50 feet wide at the start, 100 feet long, and 25 feet wide at the end. I don’t think a circular layout would work for containment. Can I place the boundary markers outside the fence? At what distance from the boundary do the warning signals start for the dog-5 feet or 10 feet? I need this information because my yard is quite narrow. Thank you!”
I could use some advice. I moved to a new property that has a brick wall thats 8ft tall around 3 sides. But the gate and front wall is only 3 ft high the problem is the main house is in the middle of the property my tiny home is in the back area, we have a few car ports that are open sided on the main house. Im afraid of a system messing up and ⚡ him when im not home the property isn't that big either maybe 1/4 Acer. But im not 100% sure on that yet. I just moved here so my funds are pretty low right now but I definitely don't want to cheap out ,to the point my dog is going to get zapped for no reason. I live in Arizona so in the summer it's going to be extremely hot so I would like him to have the free will to go in and out of the house. Not only will it be expensive to run the air conditioner I'd rather not lock him inside 8 hours a day
I feel like I shouldn't get either. My yard is too small for gps but I can't do circle shapes either. Does this mean my best option is in ground wire type?
Come on dude. You’re gonna love your dog to death, literally, with that attitude. The shock isn’t going to injure your dog, just startle him, or “shock” him.
Can you please explain what safeguards you can put in place to prevent indoor shocking with a gps system? I have a doggy door so she'll be wearing the collar indoors. I also have a metal roof.
With SpotOn you can set up GPS-based home zones, and it won’t correct within that zone. Halo has some logic to detect when it’s indoors, but I’m not sure how reliable it is. With Halo you can also use Bluetooth beacons to set up keep-out zones Beacons haven’t worked so well in my experience. Of course, the fail-safe is to take the collar off indoors.
THANK YOU!!! The last few seconds of you being zapped were hilarious! :) But seriously, I appreciate the review. My ridgeback keeps roaming a bit too far and we need to help him stay closer to home. #MuchAppreciated
The problem I'm having is sometimes my dog escapes my house and it's like a big game to her every time I get close to catching her she runs further away and I'm just worried she's going to get hit by a car I don't want to use a wireless dog fence but I don't have any other choice
SpotOn is best equipped for it. You likely will see more drift than if you had a clear view of the sky, keep this in mind when setting up boundaries near potential hazards.
Lol, we've had so many comments about the music being too loud on the video. Definitely noted! Thanks for your feedback. It helps us make better videos!
Interested in a gps collar but i live way out in the country where no wifi is available. I can bring my base to work and set it up with the wifi there...but once i get the system home...will the collar work without constant wifi service nearby? Can i just use wifi to set it up and then bring it home and plug the base in and it will work? Trying to find the best product that doesnt need wifi to run. Thank you for any advice
@@beckyidom8008 No wifi needed for the PetSafe wireless pet containment system. You'll need a place to plug the base station in at both locations, and you'll probably need to adjust the fence size when you move it to and from.
I'm having trouble. Live on a farm, and someone dropped off a husky. I've found the room in my heart to take care of it and have grown fond of him. He's got a huge farm lot to be on but runs away daily and torments the neighbors. I'd like to contain him to our 5acre lot but not sure what unit to use/get. Looked into the halo and spot collar but cannot justify Charging the collar everyday. I want a plug and play system to set up a boundary with the lot. 3/4 acre just doesn't seem big enough and I want him to use the full property... maybe I just need to knife a line in eh?
I found the Halo collar a very poor product. I bought a collar back in late 2020. Had multiple issues with it not working. Returned for a refund. This all took about a year to send it in multiple times and then to get the refund. In late November of 2021 they came out with an updated version. Claimed they had fixed all the issues. I applied my refund for the new collar. Upon receiving the new collar the same issues persisted. My dog would get beeps and corrections when no where near the boundaries. Corrections and beeps would be delayed. In the summer of 2022 it quit working all together. Would not charge. I would not count on these collars to completely safeguard your dog. The quality is not there. The connectivity can be spotty with anything on cell data or gps. They should not put your pet's safety on this. The workmanship and reliability is not consistent. Might as well spend the $ on fencing or an underground dog fence. If you do try it out, please be aware of the very short window of time to return it. A 60 day return policy melts away fast with training and product shipping.
Underground fence system didn’t work on my dogs because once past the 10-15 area of correction they were free. They learned this and blasted over the fence and out of the range. Plus the wire would break for a myriad of reasons and connectivity was lost. Hopefully the weiz system will work for me, it was certainly inexpensive.
I don't think that's a good idea. The collar is big and bulky. Best advice, make your cat an indoor cat. Ours is always safe inside. Doesn't cost a cent. Good luck with your kitty. @@ThePamperedPup
I was part of the beta testing for halo. I have 2 dogs needed 4 collars because I need to charge everyday. They broke over & over & over. We were told we had a “lifetime warranty” which they decided to stop replacing after a year of replacing all the broken collars etc…. No refund either. Completely wasted lots of money!! Halo is junk!!! I’m worried that spot on will be the same. Has Anyone used spot-on with 24/7 guardian dogs for 1+ years with any success??
Why does no one talk about the size for the dogs… I just spent so much time watching all these reviews and then to come and find out it won’t fit my small dog 😢👎🏻
Great idea to feed coyotes. My neighbor had one and his poor dog could not escape from a coyote. Got dragged away, shocked all the way, and ended up getting eaten. The collar survived though.

You can, it just means that the collar will treat the boundary where you set it. For SpotOn for example, they start at 10 feet from the boundary.

Yeah, in that case I would think the in-ground fences would be the best bet.
Do they make one that dose not shock the dog? Maybe one that just vibrates?
You can set the Wiez to NOT shock. It's really easy.

Got 2 husky’s father son and they both a holes love them but jumping and digging over the fence not working
Glad I saw this, I was looking for a invisible fence for my husky. Have you found anything that works?
I am looking for wireless fence system for a smaller yard what suggest
Probably a PetSafe system would be best.
Link to the $125 discount for spot on isn't found/working.
I’ve got a chihuahua that wants more than the 10 acres we have... Will the spot on leash be too big?
You'll want to measure your dog to see if they fit the collar. Neck sizes are shown for each collar size on the SpotOn website.
Does the spot on still work if cell service is spotty in rural areas?
The fence itself should. The escape notification/low battery notification features and similar might not work as well
Gps is everywhere
We have 8 wooded acres. Can this really function in the woods?
SpotOn is best equipped for it. You likely will see more drift than if you had a clear view of the sky, keep this in mind when setting up boundaries near potential hazards.

PetSafe guardian offers a bit more battery life (3 days), plus you can swap batteries out. Perhaps that would help

Why are none of these collars suitable for a small dog! it’s as if they don’t exist. small dogs can’t lug around a giant box around their neck.
My guess is that the technology required can only be so small, plus the battery. It’s something that could use a solution for sure.
