    I bought one in June and absolutely love it. So easy to ride up hills, compact when folded, easy to roll and carry. Very well designed and ingenious fold. It’s a very stylish little bike too. Just waiting for the compatible bag which isn’t due until November. Would be perfect if there was a compatible travel case which allowed you to travel with it on a plane.

      There is! You can use any 16" semi-reinforced travel case as long as it's at least 70x70cm (65x65 will work if it's a softcase). The standard Brompton ones won't fit as they're 60x60. I've taken mine around SE Asia :) Vincita makes one although a bit heavy at 3,5kg. I've now switched to a thick softcase and use a 5cm + 3cm acoustic foam sheet (200x100, cut down to 200x70 and crosswrap). Get a block of foam to protect the derailleur. Make two incisions about 2cm from each other in the middle so that you can loop a tie wrap through it and secure it to the derailleur. Put the block between the wheel and derailleur.

      @@dca4976Great to know. Thanks for the guidance. I would imagine the ability to change a flat so easily would also make it a great travel companion.

    12KG is not light. almost all folding alloy bike weight around that. 10kg below, yes light. also its not convenience enough to commute around town like brompton or birdie.

      Yes! I've taken it around SE Asia! The 9 speed is great for travel but will hit speed bumps and slopes a lot because it's so close to the ground.

      Nice do you know have any bag recommendations? I cant find a nice one that fits the bike

    • @dca4976
      @dca4976 4 месяца назад

      @@dougieforte Any semi-reinforced bike bag that holds 16" or 20" folding bikes will do as long as they're at least 70x70cm. If it's a softcase, 65x65cm should work. Unfortunately it doesn't fit the dimpa bag. Vincita make one (B132, older series. Paid 68 euro new) which is a bit heavy at 3,5kg. I've now switched to a 16" softbag from Rhinowalk + 5cm+3cm acoustic foam sheets which I crosswrap around the bike and a foam block for the derailleur. The nice thing about the softbag is that it folds into a small rectangle, attaches to the handlebar and only weighs 0,9kg. And you can roll up the foam once you get to your destination and attach it to your backpack.

    • @dca4976

      Shorter wheelbase and no suspension, so a bit bumpier. Easier to fold and unfold, easier to maintain. A bit bulkier, will not fit the dimpa. Can easily hit 35 km/h on flats.

  • @YouKayTen
    @YouKayTen 7 месяцев назад

    A well thought design especially at this price point. However, i feel bit misleading as it only unfolds in seconds but takes upto 30 seconds or longer to fold it back. Also 12kgs is still bit heavy for a folding bike. And I am not comparing it to a Bromie. (They are over priced and over rated like an iPhone). Instead i have got a US import Dahon EEZZ D3 which is a 16" at £799 and only 9.5kilos! Although I have to say, this little Btwin has more features like stand, carry handle, rolling which my Dahon is missing. 🤷‍♂️

    • @dca4976
      @dca4976 4 месяца назад +1

      It absolutely does not take 30 seconds to fold. There's a trick to it that is explained in the manual; you hold the front brake, undo the frame latch and just push the saddle. The bike is designed to fold/roll into itself this way without ever having to lift anything. Undo the handlebar which just falls into place and undo the seatpost which automatically falls into place by pushing+twisting the saddle. It takes me about 6 seconds to fold it.

      I own a Brompton, I agree that it is a bit overpriced but you are paying for the quality and compact ability/portability of the bike plus it is hand-made. I also that this bike is heavy for 16" compact folding bike. I wonder why it is heavy and this should be in the range of 10-10.5kg. A Dahon Airspeed D9 only weighs 10kg for 16" 9 speed bike.
