Circus peanuts are among my all-time favorite candies, along with candy corn. I never thought they tasted anything like a banana, though identifying just what flavor they did have would be a challenge. Mostly, they were sweet. When fresh, they simply dissolved on my tongue, which I loved, and when they were a bit stale (as I got older, I took to letting them get stale by leaving them out of the package and letting them sit for a few days), they became chewy, which I liked even better. They never lasted long enough to get crunchy.
I remember eating them as a kid; they were okay. I don't remember being thrown by the fact that they weren't peanut-flavored; I just accepted it. After all, they weren't peanuts, but instead *circus* peanuts, meaning they were their own thing.
There is something for everyone, and circus peanuts are definitely a talking point. Those of us with discerning palates who happen to love these nuggets of mystery hope they will continue to be offered.
My Daddy owned a Clark gas station when I was little. At Halloween he would bring home boxes of the full size Clark bars to give out. Yes, ours was one of the most popular trick or treat spots in the neighborhood, lol! Good memories!
I have literally never had one. I've never been to someone's house where circus peanuts are available, nobody in related to has ever mentioned eating them so my only experience with them is seeing them in baggies at old school candy stores or markets
I have a theory. It was invented in a time when people didn't have money to spend. So it would make sense if it's ingredients were the cheapest available, or if it was originally just the leftovers of other candies that were just thrown together to be sold rather than wasted. If they just wanted to get rid of extra banana flavor and coloring. Marshmallows are pretty economical as they're full of air and have few extra ingredients. They also don't need to be cooked, so there isn't much of a time sacrifice to make. Lastly the shape, in that context, would have just been whatever random shape they happened to grab. Possibly it was a bigger mold designed to use the extra material. Can't say for sure, but it seems logical to me. Especially since the candymaking techniques were much simpler and less controlled than they are now.
I never see them for sale BUT they're the only marshmallow candy I'll eat. The only other marshmallow products I'll eat are tiny marshmallows in hot cocoa & toasted marshmallows. That's it!
Aside from milk chocolate, my favorite candy is the circus peanut. It's the unique "banana" flavor. the shape and color is certainly off-putting. If even 1% of the population likes the flavor and buys them, it's a reason to keep them on the store shelves. They don't go bad. And they are WAY more expensive now than 30 years ago.
I always viewed it as just simply a dense marshmallow shapped like a peanut. Theyre amazing and taste wonderful. Its like a shock fluffy bersion of candy corn(taste wise imo)
The taste has changed over time. I use to actually like them, and almost go out of my way to get a bag of them. But a bad batch turned me off to them. It was more of the stale and hardness of the bag of Circus Peanuts in that store batch. A nice tasting batch is very enjoyable. Because they are unusual, don't make sense, makes them enjoyable to me...when they're done right.
I just had these for the first time (i'm 32) and they're FUCKING PHENOMENAL!! The texture is unlike any candy, the banana flavor is insane, I just love em!
I stopped eating them only because they contain gelatine and I became vegetarian. But I really loved this candy, there is nothing wrong with circus peanuts for those who eat animal products they have a nice flavor.
Man are they DELISH!!! Eating them with a cold glass of milk is the BOMB.. I still recall eating them with milk while reading all the Sherlock Holmes stories while a teenager.. so good But as noted by others below.. I don't eat them now because I dropped added sugar from my diet..
Do you still eat circus peanuts?
Yes.
Yep!
Currently watching this video eating circus peanuts 😂
Yes
Yup, still do.
COME ON NOW! I STILL EAT CIRCUS PEANUTS!!!!!!
Same. Just Harder to find fresh.
Me too I love them 😊
Love them!
Me too! 🧡

I used to eat them with my Great Grandmother and my daughter actually likes them, she's 19.
I love circus peanuts
I agree with you sir.
You’re crazy! These are one of my food groups!!! I LOVE them!!! and I’m NOT confused either…
When I was a kid I had a teacher who would give them out to me on holidays because I loved them so much.
I agree Circus peanuts are fun! They are ridiculously sweet just like my other old favorite... candy corn. Ok hate on me. I can take it. 😊
No hate: I love mellowcremes, especially the golden brown ones that came in the Halloween Mix. Now *that's* a niche taste! 😉
and month old peeps.
Circus Peanuts are Amazing
I love Circus peanuts. I always have.
I haven't seen these is years. They are good indeed.
I remember eating them as a kid; they were okay. I don't remember being thrown by the fact that they weren't peanut-flavored; I just accepted it. After all, they weren't peanuts, but instead *circus* peanuts, meaning they were their own thing.
My grandmother, born in 1892, loved Circus Peanuts. I use to eat them, but after a while they became too sweet to eat!
Please don’t speak for everyone I know at least 3 people that eat them and they are GOOD !!!
Oh shut up Mary
I love circus peanuts and they are awesome... But other people can have a wrong opinion...
Chocolate covered circus peanuts. Before you laugh, try it. Then either thank me or curse me.
Oreos and Banbanas are great together so you are probably right.
😯 sounds great!
Not as confusing as Grape Nuts, which don't contain either grapes or nuts, don't taste like grapes or nuts and don't even look like grapes or nuts.
Pork and Beans too!! No pork.
I happen to love circus peanuts, and they are made about 35 miles from where I grew up.
I never stopped eating circus peanuts.❤❤❤
I still love them. I bought a bag last night and sadly, I ate all of them overnight. And still craving more...
There is something for everyone, and circus peanuts are definitely a talking point.

My grandpa loved circus peanuts so of course I ate them too as a kid. I liked them but they weren’t nearly as good as a chocolate bar. Lol
I’m still eating them and no one is stopping me
I'm 67 and still buy and eat my favorite candy! Bleev or not, munching on some as I watch this video.
I loved them as a young child but I can't eat them today because it's pure sugar.
You forgot zagnant and clark candy bar
My Daddy owned a Clark gas station when I was little. At Halloween he would bring home boxes of the full size Clark bars to give out. Yes, ours was one of the most popular trick or treat spots in the neighborhood, lol! Good memories!
They still sell Zagnuts at Five Below
@@blueblousedesigns I'll check it out thanks for the update.
@@SubtleReed you're welcome
@@blueblousedesignsNope, it is just a brief video, the focus was on Circus Peanuts, it wasn’t about all the nostalgic candy that was ever put out!
Confusing that you say they disappeared but they are still available. They did not disappear.
Who eats a banana like that in the mirror lol
Girls who watched the "how to" video do.
I love circus peanuts but since I no longer eat pork I don't eat them anymore 😊
They have lard?
@@marianparoo1544 it's made with pork gelatin
@@marianparoo1544Well yeah, they're made from hog ends and shavings. That's why they flavor them banana, otherwise they'd taste like bacon.
. Spangler Brand circus peanuts have NO pork gelatin. They are glutin-free and free of common allergens. And come in different flavors. Enjoy🎉
@@rebeccamyott7041 from my understanding that brand also uses pork gelatin to make their product
I have literally never had one. I've never been to someone's house where circus peanuts are available, nobody in related to has ever mentioned eating them so my only experience with them is seeing them in baggies at old school candy stores or markets
I love circus peanuts especially when they are stale😆
Oh how I use to love these we don't have them in our area anymore
Idk what you’re talking about, we sell a shit-ton of these.
i got some in my room right now they are soo good
I have always loved circus peanuts
I LOVE Circus Peanuts. The way they melt in the mouth is like nothing else in the world.

Circus peanuts don't taste like bananas. They taste like bubblegum. And they're delicious. I just can't find them anywhere anymore 😅
Huh…Dollar tree, 99 storrr, and all drugstores
I kind of want to try one now.
I never see them for sale BUT they're the only marshmallow candy I'll eat.
The only other marshmallow products I'll eat are tiny marshmallows in hot cocoa & toasted marshmallows.
That's it!
Me too!!
Come on! Circus peanuts are wonderful! People haven't stopped eating them, just people with no taste or maybe no taste buds.
because I can't, I won't and I dont stop
I go on quests for them every year or so - start quest 2024!
We buy them all the time. We love them. There is no problem getting them here in central Texas.

You people think Circus Peanuts finna taste like a regular peanut?? Imagine Disney makes a Disney Almond, and it's just an Almond with zero candy 😂
I still eat circus peanuts including ones in different colors/ flavors. Love them.

Biased! I love circus peanuts! They’re my fave and unique!
I just had these for the first time (i'm 32) and they're FUCKING PHENOMENAL!! The texture is unlike any candy, the banana flavor is insane, I just love em!
I think they are great. But I completely understand how people would think they are disgusting. 😂
I stopped eating them only because they contain gelatine and I became vegetarian. But I really loved this candy, there is nothing wrong with circus peanuts for those who eat animal products
they have a nice flavor.
I love circus peanuts, candy corn, tootsie rolls...
When i first tried circus peanuts i asked my mom if i could swallow it cause i couldnt tell if it was gum
I love artificial banana flavor, and I really enjoy the texture of circus peanuts. I even buy the Christmas and Easter versions when I see them.
I’m snacking on some circus peanuts watching this rn. I don’t care what anyone says I love them.
Easy. They’re disgusting. Along with those peanut chews wrapped in wax paper, they always went straight into the trash on Halloween.
They don't taste like bananas and aren't confusing.
You either love em, or hate em. I'm eating them right now....love em! Circus peanuts, not lobster.
I love them though, It's one of those candies that you either hate it or love it.
Best snack in the whole world is homemade vanilla ice cream and peanut butter. Try it you'll have a brand new habit.
This almost sounds like propaganda
I dont think they're that bad. A blast from the past.
I've loved these candies since the late 50s. Still eat them
I love circus peanuts & I still eat them . My kids and grandchildren love them too
Circus peanuts are great and i still eat them.
There fantastic.
The circus peanuts require flavor. Add some actual flavor to circus peanuts, and they might make a comeback.
They hav banana 🍌 flavor
Man are they DELISH!!! Eating them with a cold glass of milk is the BOMB..
I still recall eating them with milk while reading all the Sherlock Holmes stories while a teenager.. so good
But as noted by others below.. I don't eat them now because I dropped added sugar from my diet..
This is just psycho-babble. I love circus peanuts. This is just a "trend pressure". Herd mentality for those who only follow trends.
In Canada they just look like bananas
I'll agree on disliking them. But they aren't quite as bad as Necco Wafers. Oddly, I do like candy corn, but I have no idea why.
I am guessing people stopped as they tasted gross.
I eat them and yes they are weird but i love them. This may just be me but i do eat them after theyve hardened up a little bit.
I’m eating them right now! But it’s probably my last bag. I can’t find any that are not genetically modified. That’s why *_I stopped eating them!_*
Ahh yes, The infamous freak banana oil accident...😅🍌
Whoever wrote this hit piece on circus peanuts, has serious deep seeded mommy issues
I saw them at Cracker Barrel the other day. Should've picked them up. ALWAYS loved that banana flavor!
Put them on top of swee potater and bake big bowl of candy corn to garnish
I'm weird I like them stale
Thank you. I had to scroll all the way to the bottom for this!
This video would have been half as long...if they didn't say 'circus peanuts'
Why do people eat lobster? Lobsters are cockroachs......look it up yourself, it's a cockroach.
Because the last person born in the 1890's passed away in 2017?
Not sure which is worse....circus peanuts or candy corn. They are about equally horrible.
I love them! They're banana flavored despite their color!
Are circus peanuts anything like foam bananas?
Im enjoying eating circus peanuts while watching this
I absolutely love them always have and they are everywhere in upstate NY but I just found out about the banana flavor a couple years ago
How dramatic. Circus peanuts are okay. Good and Plenty are disgusting, though.
Watching this while eating circus peanuts 🤣😂
Why would someone analyze this for eleven minutes?
No one I know thinks they taste like a banana
I STILL love circus peanuts!
They're great with ranch sauce and a bit of tarragon!
i cant find them anywhere....haven't had one in 20 years at least.
It's more a texture thing for me than anything else.
I really like them, always did and would still eat them if I could find them!!
They should've called it Circus Banana Nuts
Edible packaging peanuts*
The colored ones make smile even more
I loveeee circus peanuts. They’re good!
