All digital mode audio sucks. It is what it is. That it can do one particular thing, however, makes it kind of awesome at the same time.

I agree with most everything you said but believe the Voice Wide mode available on the FT-70 and FT5D are an exception. You have to enable it on both radios to make it a selectable mode. Works with DP-ID and DG-ID.

Got rid of my hotspot years ago. Only have a connection to Allstar now. Hate digital audio. 99 percent of chatting on hotspots or connected repeaters (except Allstar) are radio checks and packet loss anyways.
