Yeah, I end up paying for it a decent amount. It's probably the closest that I am 50/50 on picking top/bottom. Most of my games are solo though, so if I'm not defending that turn anyway, then the bottom doesn't have a downside other than the cost. Overall I think it's a TERRIBLE choice sometimes, but other times can be a fantastic choice.
I do think top on years of little rain is sometimes just game winning, especially later if you’ve added a couple beasts and minus 1 health picks off a couple cities. Minus 1 health to dahan is no consequence if they also defend. But that dahan counter becaomse devastating. I still usually Prolif, but the minus 1 health is often worth thinking about. I also pick top sometimes because it feels a little more balanced. :P
When we’ve had a lot of air my group has found the air threshold useful on the card. Just 6 energy is so much for an affect that not every spirit can make good use out of so you really need it to be already half paid for at least. If it didn’t make spirits forget a card it would probably be a lot better of an option.
I mostly play solo so I don’t have to worry about the impact/cost on other players. Dahan Trade with the Enemy can be incredible. I managed to pay for the bottom with Thunderspeaker once and it was pretty ridiculous. It’s a heavy cost, but if you still have Dahan on the island, it’s early enough in the game and cost afford it without completely derailing you game, it’s worth it. The only times I’ve used the bottom on Remnants of a Spirit Heart is time when I’ve already cleared ravaging lands, but at that point it feel a bit win more.
Bottom on Remnants of a Spirit's Heart can also work if you were relying on skips or were already planning to take the blight that turn. I can see how it could be unlikely for everyone in a 3+ player game to be happy losing 4 defend all at the same time, though.
I'm pretty much in agreement about the cards to pay for but I've had quite different experiences with the cards you advice to never pay for. Paying for Renmants of a Spirit's Heart literally won us a really rough game the other day. We had no defense (Wildfire+Lightning), Salt Mining was going to come up next, was really nice to have 4 defense on the next turn as it let us ignore all small-to-medium lands when we couldn't afford to cover them. We won on 1 blight, my board alone would've taken 2 without the defense. Now, I think it's reasonable to expect that losing 4 defense across the board is unacceptable in most 6 player game because somebody is going to play defense spirits or minors. But in my 2-4 player games it's does happen every now and then that nobody has any defense worth protecting. And then the bottom part can be worth it. Usually isn't but not a "never pick" for me for this reason. As for Life's Balance Tilts, as someone else pointed out before, it's not uncommon to not have any disease on the board. And while preventing a build is always nice it costs 1 blight per player on average (+0.5 instead of -0.5 per player). So it's often about whether or not to flipping the blight card is worth a disease per board. Seems like a real choice to me. Mind you, I don't love these events. It just don't think their bottom options are as unpickable as you argue, at least not in the context of the games I play in. Maybe with better play taking that 0.5 blight per player is easier, maybe with 6 player games there's always defend spirits in the game. Who knows.
For Life's Balance Tilts, bottom part says "add a beast, remove a disease". I very often do not have any disease, and I still get the beast - the 50% blight removal - and maybe don't even care about +1 health in some situations (given small player counts and defensive or fast power spirits). "Almost always bad" seems like a exaggeration - or am I missing something? Also, the payment is aided by animal, which coincides with the spirits that wants to keep the beasts (and the dahan). (i get that the bottom will see little use in 4-6 player games)
I wouldn’t say it’s an exaggeration. Almost always you will want to pick top. The problem is adding a beast doesn’t do anything. Most spirits don’t interact with beasts and the minor upside you get from beast damage later is far worst than the immediate build skip from the disease add you get from not paying. It’s not that losing a disease is the reason to not pick bottom. It’s that you gain a disease by picking top. Health bonuses are relevant most of the time, since someone at the table is either doing slow damage, or planning around Dahan counter attack in the ravage.
As always another great informational video. I assume I know the answer, but can you clarify for me? When you were playing multiple spirits, can you split the event and have one spirit not pay and accept the consequences and another spirit pay, or is it always both of the spirits that have to pay in order to avoid the first element of the event?
Very informative video. Just a few questions. 1) If you choose to play one part of the event, does that mean that the other one is ignored? (Excluding the ones at the very bottom of each card.) 2) Is it allowed to play both options, even if most of the times that won't make much sense? 3) If you choose to pay with elements, does that make you to lose elements in the process and preventing you from using your innate powers for example? Thank you very much in advance.

when are the going to update the digital version to include all the current spiritis in the board game
There are two expansions not included:
JE
And
NI
I bet JE is 1 year away. NI is probably 2.

Every water element you have tracks, etc count as +1
