Literally played sharp fangs and many minds today! Love the content!
I would love to see some games with darkness :-)
17:26, can you play Drift Down and Call to Guard in land 5 and stop the mountain build? Heal the blight on land 2 and let it blight again next turn?
ugh i was playing himmm wronggg ty for clarification
Yesterday I beat England 6 with pillars of flame. I played immense lightning, and had some good RNG with finding destructive majors on element, so that I could use majors, innate and the major thresholds. In this special scenario, the card was a blast, because even the build up lands aligned with not being swamp/jungle. But a very special case, I admit. It was fun, though. Usually I skip pillars, and most of the other D/F tiers. Glad to see, that my intuition on these cards was spot on. I‘m relatively new to Spirit Island, and very much appreciate your educational content, thanks!
Have you tried Transforming with Mountain? The amount of extra bight you can generate to the blight pool is crazy
I like this Spirit, but prefer playing with his/her/its aspect from N.I.
leaving this guide not watched since this spirit is very strong and may love to play this a lot
played multiple games of shroud these days with physical boardgame and have to say official digital is more convenient. New shroud player and thanks for ur videos to ensure the good results
nice vid
At 1:34 you could actually take Pyro, blight only kills beasts when added by ravages, not by powers.
Love me some Panda Lightning and Bringer!
two player solo this during my vacation multiple times against England 6. Tired of winning. Thanks for introducing this combo. Green and stranded shroud can cover team mate's island quickly and efficiently
this spirit combo wow. Both of them can generate lots of fear
Combo is interesting, board looks like a mess though 🤣
Awesome Video. How is your Hearth Vigil guide going?
To do next, a match with some subscribers but Red cannot say the other player what to do, lets see how desperate he gets 😆😉😆😉😆😉😆
Loving the 2 spirit solos. That's how I play all the time.
Amazing video! So entertaining to watch. Loving these random 2 spirit games.
the combo is very cool
love to see this combo in play!
I checked out your dual hand game of this combo and I think it will be easier against England by using this combo. The violent Bringer and shroud can work against England with more difficulty
speculate this combo for a while and it worked against England today
10:30 before the fear card revealed 4 extra defense wouldn't F7 blight? Invaders had 8 damage that would also kill one of the two dahan leaving them incapable of killing the city. Am I missing something here?
I was wondering exactly the same thing! The only reason I can put up is that there were a lot of fear cards going on and he just needed a 2 damage / push town / defend 1 to be saved, so he went with the chances.
what a rollercoaster of a game
How does it affect the strength of many minds if played without event cards? I am relatively new to the expansions and still leaving those out.
@@br03tch3n2 event cards are absolutely necessary to playing SI
@@RedReVenge007Do you mean in terms of balance or rather in terms of fun? I thought they would simply add some more randomness which didnt really feel positive to me...
@@br03tch3n2 Balance. The game is balanced around Events (as someone who has worked on balancing previous expansions).
Fun comment: Renewing Boon is awful elements for Shroud, but it removes a blight and brings back Green's destroyed presence for more skips. Can be fiddly to setup though
@@nicholasliu5788 costs too much energy
@RedReVenge007 I don't think energy ended up being the problem in this game, but I agree that it's probably not efficient. Badlands plus Dissolving/Fog/Stem is gross. It's a pity thay Vigor is so busted, otherwise you might have done more with Shore Seethes
Around 36:00, your original set of actions (with Overgrow + Sap into F5) is already edge-case proof, because Green will always be able to destroy a presence in F2 and move it into F1 with Flowing. There's no event that builds twice in F1, so the land can't hit 7 buildings until the escalation, and you'd have a sacred site there by that point.
UNLOCK THAT GATE OF DEEPER MEMES BOI
Played this after your synergy video. Very strong! I know you put them as an F on your matchup axis, but I think Mud solo vs Russia 6 is actually pretty good with the fast fear track. Wonder if you'd give it a shot sometime. I won 3 games in 5 plays, curious if someone could figure if it's statistically more winning than losing or my T1 majors were just OP Winning games majors: Vigor, Paralyzing Fright, Instruments (Strong majors for sure) Losing games majors: Forests of Obsidian, Sweep into Sea
Mud has problems into Russia 6 in MP setting where it can't just fear out. In solo, Mud does fine because it can fast Tempo win. Shadows is another Spirit that fits into this category.
A lot a fun, I’m glad you did fun drafts instead of safe drafts! Still need to see that shiny pokemon of an ultimate meme innate!
At 27:00 you didn’t even contemplate using Overgrow for the 3 fast fear. Oversight, or just not worth the energy compromise?
I don't like to Overgrow for fear because of the cost. 2 energy is ALOT for Green (who typically has 2 energy a turn). Usually this energy is needed for Majors.
@@RedReVenge007oh, I totally get it. Just turning off 3 extra sands builds seems like one of those corner cases where it might be worthwhile.
@@corinnacohn7389 Yep That's likely the better play, but I think I went on auto pilot at this point.
Love your videos Red, especially the two handed games! I've recently gotten back into Spirit Island after a long break, and I have the itch to make custom spirits: is there any general advice you have for creating fun and balanced spirits?
I have a bunch coming out in February. Custom Spirits I don't have the best advice outside of (1) Join the Spirit Island Creations Discord (2) Be VERY open to people's suggestions. Don't take it personal, if you don't like what someone is saying, just listen. I see players get overly defensive over their custom creations. (3) Avoid Dahan adding powers. (4) Avoid starting hands that have more than 4 cards.
Great Game! There were 2 turns With 2 cards on the invader slots (Sands and Mountains, Build and Ravage). Do you maybe know why the game takes the Sands First in Both cases? Since i would have thought that Mountains would be the First one each case because it was drawn First… am i missing Something? I know that this doesnt do anything in this matchup but i‘m trying to understand the exact rules. Thx!
Good catch. I believe this is a bug! The mountains should build first!
Very much missed these 2 handed games, great content, thanks!
I have a bunch coming out in February
Would love to see 2 spirit solos!
Renewing Boon adds back a destroyed presence in solo, directly countering the blighted island effect.
We played some real life 4-5-6 player games and we had so much fun. The game becomes instantly way more fun and the combos from around the table are insane. Definitely having 1 or 2 beginner players makes the game harder and higher difficulties are really hard without alpha. CastDown is also fun to watch and experience. So I tried 2-3-4 handed and I enjoyed my solo games even more. Glad you have some plays of multi handed. Thanks for these!
Teeth, one of my mains. I really like some of it's particular design. Having kind of a consistently good early game to a middling late game makes it some sort of a "reverse" serpent. My usual favourite build Being g3bot, g2minor top into g2major top into reclaim; it's kind of a gamble, but usually not much worse than the more consistent "rush 4 plays" build.
Did i mess sth up in my settings? I cannot chose the escalation for prussia. It just adds the town to land 1. If not possible then land 2. Weird.
Hi Red. Do you have any plans to update your Spirit Tier list? I would like to see if you have any new understanding, especially on those new spirits in NI. Besides, it would be great if you could release a video on the development of spirit design throughout the expansions, as you said the devs are getting better over time. Really hope to see your comment on the somewhat "flawed" designs in the past and improved ones now.
My most recent tier list is in September. I think most of the Spirits are on point. I think the biggest changes would be Intensify and Nourishing up 2 spots. Finder possibly into S tier. Voice possibly a bit lower.
What a difference from normal teeth to solo teeth power! Is this the spirit that has the largest difference in power level from multi to solo, you think?
There's plenty more. Many Minds, Darkness, Searing Heat to name a few.
Ferocious Might in solo makes teeth playable! I’d love to see a Mud and Teeth game sometime
Didn't know you own this Spirit 💥
Always love learning about spirits from you
Really happy you still continue to post videos. Love your content ❤
Great video Red. Just a heads up that I will use (and credit you for) some of this material as part of my own Adversary Series, which begins with Sweden next week!
is there a reason you prefer to record content using the official app? personally i think the tts looks a lot cleaner (and is bug-free as i saw in a previous video using the app regarding Shroud and Russia explorer not being pushed i think)
I prefer TTS aswell. Especially for playing multiplayer games / allows me to do redraws and implement house rules. But Digital has some huge advantages. (1) It is a video game. People like watching video games and as a result, SI digital games tend to get more views. (2) SI digital handles the rules, so rules mistakes are close to minimal outside of bugs. I received a large amount of obnoxious comments if any rules are forgotten (especially when the game is "over", but not actually over). My biggest trigger is when someone tells me I forgot France 6 on turn 6 lol. Like is it really going to matter? Jokes aside, SI digital cuts out that mental load for me and just makes it easier to play.
Unless you are used to the interface, TTS videos are really hard to follow (zooming and scrolling all over the place gives me a headache).
Honestly I prefer SI digital content because it’s easier to follow, but I wish there were fewer bugs (IE destroying explorers against Russia)
Coming from a guy who only played SI on TTS(and in actual tabletop but that doesn't count for this discussion): I cannot watch TTS basically at all, it's way too much stuff being presented in a way that is hard to follow at a glance; I only listen to those and look in from time to time when the audio indicates something particularly interesting. The digital app is much easier to follow, and from what I've seen most people say, it seems your preference, purely watching-wise, is not the most common one. There's also that part where one's an official app that supports the developers and the other is just "allowed to exist"(though it is a very good medium to play SI all the same). But that is a less pertinent factor when discussing watchability by itself.
@@sirhasslich536 i mean maybe, but the app is also just missing content? i don't know if it has all the spirits/aspects or not, but its just missing Mining as an adversary i think?
I'm a little surprised that Reaching Grasp (target any spirit, all of target spirit's powers get +2 range) didn't make A-tier, but I can see the logic. It's a metacard that doesn't solve any problem on its own but instead makes it possible for a different card or power to do it -- i.e., action economy cost. That said, I play a lot of Ocean. If Ocean gets Reaching Grasp and makes it to 4 or 5 plays before the game is completely out of control, you're going to win. Ocean can simply sit back, reclaiming and gaining a new power every turn while reaching anywhere on the board. Sky Stretches to Shore is another one that is almost certainly going to win the game for you because it lets you do the reclaim cycle trick and also lets you stop a ravage by drowning the relevant enemy. on the fast phase.
I think you answered your own question. You are an Ocean player. Reaching Grasp improves Ocean's efficiency significantly and you are viewing the card through that lens. When I make tier lists I look through all lens or in a general sense. The reason why Reaching Grasp isn't in A tier is because it isn't impacting the board or improving your economy. Whenever you play a card you are spending an action. That action needs to work towards infrastructure, or solve problems. Reaching grasp is a "nice to have " card. It can amplify existing actions, or enable new plays, but it isn't increasing your tempo. I find the card to be win-more in most games. It's best use is the fact that it costs 0 energy and it has Sun (the best element in the game).
@ That's pretty much what I said in the original post, yeah. I was *surprised*, then thought about it and saw the logic. Thank you for the answer, though.
@ Why is Sun the best element? Because of the cards that have it, or...?
@@davidstorrs Sun Majors are the best majors in general. Sun minors have increased stock because they can help threshold these majors.
Also adding an extra defense in the fast for the defend per presence. Could matter a lot turn 2.
