and tom was wearing aviator glasses while going nearly 100mph like he does in every film. nobody does that without their eyes getting gobsmacked by their own tears because aviator models can't block any wind blast at all
You didn't talk about how motorcycles portrayed in movies always seem to have a 43 speed gearbox. John Connor's little dirtbike is the best example of this. He's always upshifting to another gear.
the changing gears is what winds me up. and speed with rev sound . eg a car chasing a bike the car is going 50 -60 mph through traffic the bike is like just going through it but redlining and not going gaining speed like left in 1st gear but it keeps changing and keeps the same revs but never gets any faster. eg Paycheck
The female rider in the Tom Cruise scene is a great rider, Jenny Tinmouth. She is an ex British Superbike Championship rider and the fastest woman around the Island of Man TT circuit with an average 119.9mph lap. Great rider.
@@jimbokilo what he meant was that bike particularly has 2-ways quickshift, which tapping the clutch and release the throttle to shift is not necessary, but it is nothing wrong doing that, it neither makes shifting slower nor faster. The fact that none of them held the clutch in the middle of the lean was actually super professional
For the Bond film, the jump was legit. They had a ramp built that they edited over. I also think they switched to a lighter motocross bike, but dressed it up like the Triumph, for that jump.
I worked on many shots of that Rogue Nation chase sequence. If I'm not remembering incorrectly due to all the sleepless night we pulled back then, most of Ethan's shots leaning the bike and almost touching the knee were shot with the bike on a rig. That was all removed in post. Also, the shirt may have been added afterwards to compensate for the fact that everything was happening much slower and was played back at a faster rate to make it feel fast. His hair is barely moving. In fact, we even had to add or enhance a lot of windscreens in post, and a lot of similar things (helmet reflection cleanup, bike lights, dust kickups, etcetera) that are the kind of invisible VFX most people never notice as much as those horrible CG trucks.

These days it's quite easy to keep the top part of such a shot and reconstruct the lower part (road and wheels) properly with visual effects using data from secondary cameras and some basic CGI.

I recently saw a movie or series where a dirt bike sounded like a 1,000cc inline 4. I remember a scene in Sons of Anarchy where a Dyna was speeding off while the rider was shooting a pistol...with his throttle hand. Glad I'm not the only one who rolls their eyes so hard at these scenes.
Rogue Nation is by far one of the best motorcycle scenes in any movie, ever. My only gripe is at the end of it, there's literally no reason at all for him to lay it down. The road is completely open and she takes up almost no space. A nudge in either direction and he could have easily gone around her and stopped safely. Other than that, it's just an amazing scene.
I am a VFX artist and worked on that whole chase sequence at the time, around 2015. I only started riding motorcycles relatively recently, but it would have been much more fun if both things had overlapped.
Guy Martin did a show where he reproduced the Great Escape jump. They used a Triumph Scrambler XE and had a stunt team involved. They basically did the stunt for real, as close to the original location as they could find. They did a massive amount of prep at the Triumph factory: they went over it from top to bottom stripping out everything to cut weight. Everything that wasn't involved in making the bike go and stop came off. They changed the rear springs and put extra fluid in the front forks. Triumph also have the original Great Escape bike at the factory visitor centre, and Guy got to ride it around the car park.
Another thing to bring up about Steve McQueen's work in "The Great Escape" you missed out on which I found to be extremely cool was that there are several scenes in the chase sequence on motorbikes where Steve is on the lead bike getting chased by Steve, in full German uniform with helmet and goggles, riding another motorbike. While Steve is on another motorbike a bit further back trying to catch up. The reason for all the multi-tasking was pretty simple - Steve was an extremely good motorbike rider, and the director and he didn't see any reason why he shouldn't show off his undoubted skill. And since the cinematographer and editor were also on the top of their game, it's all done seamlessly.
I believe it was also confirmed by Bud Ekins that Steve did actually do the jump, just not the one they used in the file, apparently he went back after filming.
There is a whole behind the scenes on Terminator 2 and that exact jump. They used wires to secure the bike and make sure it doesn't fall apart. So the stuntman did the jump, but the impact was reduced thx to the wires.
@kiryskao9962 You are also right, the bike had a kind of harness attached to it, which lowered it to the deck much more gently than gravity alone would have it. The harness was then removed from the frame digitally, if I remember rightly.
One of the earlier Mission Impossible, maybe MI3, had his bike magically changing tires when the chase went from road to sand. Suddenly more clearance, changed suspension, and knobby tires. Its lije they weren't even trying to hide it. Happened on a few episodes of CHIPs in the 70s too.
That was MI2. And I noticed that right in the theater when it first came out and I bet I wasn't the only one. They had a god damn close up shot of the tires. 😂
This reminds of another movie with bad motorcyle scenes, Biker Boyz, anyone remember that one? The big scene at the end is where they have a drag race... on dirt with road bikes...
I've noticed the Metalocalypse on your monitor in the last few videos and love your use of the guitar bleeps. It worked so well in the show and continues to work here. Please keep doing it.
12:16 Yeah, there's some behind the scenes video somewhere of No Time To Die. They show that the motorcycle jump was real (a lot of practical effects in this movie) but they "CGI-out" the ramp
I liked Torque as a movie even though it is totally unrealistic in most scenes. I’m surprised you didn’t mention Biker Boyz . It had some realistic scenes and some unrealistic scenes. Especially the race with street bikes on a dirt road. Another movie I like in spite of unrealistic scenes.
Noticing a mistake and having your suspension of disbelief broken is not cognitive dissonance, though. Cognitive dissonance is emotional discomfort experienced from holding incompatible thoughts. To give an example relevant to your line of work, “I always put safety first“ and “I sometimes fly hungover and tired“. Those two thoughts are contradictory, so a pilot with both of those cognitions will experience dissonance.
@@Grim_Beard ah. Thanks for the clarification! Well if it's not cognitive Dissonance there must be another term for what he's describing in this video - and I see it all the time.
@@cplandrew Not sure I've come across a technical term for it, but I agree - breaking the illusion with basic mistakes is one of my pet hates too. Like when 'lie detectors' are shown working - aarghh!
My dad was an F-16 mechanic. I still remember I was watching Die Hard 2, and he tells me, "the airliner wouldn't explode like that if there isn't any fuel,"
Even as a kid I noticed every time Ponch and Jon from "CHiPs" ended up off-road somehow, their Kawasaki 900s suddenly turned into dirtbikes with knobby tires and a fairing stuck on the handlebars.
The bike work in chips is good to watch though those stunt guys could ride. There’s a scene where they ride out of the LA river and Ponch’s double gets really sideways
@@peterhineinlegen4672 oh yeah same with SOA you could see the crew in the reflection on their mirrors at least now they use those dolly that allow the bikes wheels to actually run on the road, the terminator scene in this vid is a good example the closeups when Arnie is reloading the bike was totally static
@@KZ900R It's funny how different shows deal with reflections. Some don't care, and others would have some unbuffed wax or something smeared on glossy cars in strategic locations.
You forgot the scene in Mission Impossible 2, when both Triumph motorcycles magically switch from road tires to off road, knobbly tires as soon as they get to the beach
As a cinephile, I really appreciated this and would like to see more if it becomes popular enough. Norman Reedus' Bonneville chopper from the start of the walking dead is by far one of my favorite bikes in any franchise. From what I remember, is it wasn't actually a bonnie, it was something a little different.
If you look closely. The German soldier in The Great Escape, chasing Steve McQueen, is Steve McQueen. (It happens previous to the jump) Bud Elkin was the stand in
“Cognitive dissonance” is when you believe two contradictory things. In other words, it is suspending disbelief. It’s the opposite of seeing something you know is wrong. It’s seeing something you should know is wrong but finding a way to go on believing it anyway.
Cognitive dissonance is when the act of holding two (or more) mutually exclusive beliefs starts to become unsupportable. It's that "hey, wait a minute" moment when you realize that what you think you know might not actually be true. It is _not_ willing suspension of disbelief.
@@OgamiItto70 “Hey, Siri, define ‘Cognitive Dissonance” Cognitive Dissonance: the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change. “The state of having,” **not** the state of realizing. In order to hold t[w]o incompatible beliefs and go on believing both you must avoid or ignore the incompatibility.
Another thing that always irks me is when the "Hero" escapes via bike and has whatever car/jeep they are being chased by full of goons and they get right up beside the hero only to shoot at them rather than just turn and knock them off, even a sudden swerve is likely to make someone crash on a bike, let alone getting shoved by a moving vehicle
One of my favorite examples is Tom Cruise on his Ninja in Top Gun riding without a helmet. Active duty US Naval personnel are required to wear full PPE while riding either on base or off. He should have had a helmet on, and when he took Charlie for a ride she should have been wearing pants, a jacket, and helmet since their PPE rules apply to passengers too. While Maverick is known to disobey rules, I doubt even he would risk his wings to a dumb mistake on a bike, especially when he has lines like, "When I fly, I'll have you know that my crew and my plane come first!"
He didn't follow the rules while in a jet, so why would he obey them on a bike? 🙆♂️ I considered that a movie thing to establish Maverick as a wild man who didn't respect authority. But yeah, he'd have his base driving priveleges revoked and have to bicycle to work at a minimum if caught.
Did you ever notice that in the movies a bike (or car) can be going 180mph and the driver is going through the gears like he was accelerating from a standstill. That drives me crazy.
It was fun to see for sure! Before I got to riding myself, I was intrigued by Norman Reedus and the CB750 he rode in the Walking Dead series. That bike looks and sounded so awesome gave me goosebumps all the time. This really made me eager to get started as well. He rode other bikes as well which was so cool to see him and the Walking Dead hold on to that.
It's a 1963 TR6 Trophy in The Great Escape. It never looks quite right when a motorcycle or bike is strapped to a rig getting pulled along the road. Even if you're going straight, the bike isn't straight up and rigid like that. I often see scenes (or commercials) where someone kick starts a vintage bike and there's clearly no compression... like they're got the clutch pulled in to make the kick starter easy to kick through
Congrats on another amazing video Spite! Maybe some reaction style videos mixed in would be good for the channel...Love the Static-X chorus too...Miss Wayne but love thet he still lives on 🤘
Did you just call the absolutely legendary Triumph TR6 used in The Great Escape a crappy motorcycle? It was literally the precursor to the Tiger. It absolutely was built for off road use and was used by McQueen in multi-day off road enduro races.
I went over a set of railroad tracks on a 1990 Fat Boy (same bike) got about 6 inches of air. When the 800 pound bike hit the ground it was a near death experience. I saw this movie in a theater, imagine the looks I got when I stood up a called Bull-Shit on this scene 😮
in the bond one, i’m pretty sure for the big jump, they used a dirt bike and disguised it as the XE. also, some guys in england (i think) replicated the steve mcqueen jump on one of those XEs, and even with a skilled rider it was a massive jump and the suspension bottomed out and nearly bucked him off. still amazing. also i sent you the bond scene although i’m sure many others did, thanks for including it!!
There are a lot of videos out there of them doing that Bond stunt for real on that bike. It had a totally custom suspension which is pretty well documented.
Yes. There is behind the scenes footage where they talk about this. They throw some body work on a dirt bike to make the editing easier but they didn't actually do those jumps on a 500lb Scrambler
3:35 I hate this. It's so hard to lift a back wheel when braking, and you have to have the right sort of bike for it. But I hear people say they won't use the front brake because it's "dangerous". One of the most annoying things for me is the incorrect dubbing, and the lack of wind. You're not thundering down the road and aiming a gun at highway speeds, because it's too windy.
The jump in Terminator did happen, but the bike was on wires to keep it stable and upright. They lightened it up as much as they could and I think they modified the suspension. There’s behind the scenes video of it out there.
You are right on the 'Arnie' stunt. The bike was suspended on wires, which is why it's so level through the air, unlike what would actually happen if you jumped a Harley, or any other bike, from that height.
I have never warched Torque. But I am a huge fan of watching terrible movies, MST3K style. This just shot right to the top of my must-see list. Side note. I dont think i have ever seen product placement quite so shamelessly blatant as the Pepsi and Mtn Dew banners in the bike-fu scene.
Film industry has overdubbed the totally wrong engine sounds on many many motorcycle scenes some of which is now hysterically funny like when 2 strokes were cool and they dubbed THAT on for stroke motorcycle ...WTF??
There have been some pretty good motorcycle scenes in movies, too, though. One that I really liked, that was somewhat contemporary, is Ryan Gosling's performance in "The Place Beyond the Pines". That's a generally underrated movie, in my opinion.
The yes men movie at first looks as if stuntmen are on the bike, but this is in fact not the case. It is actually the first use of Ducati's new wheelie assist technology.
This reminds me of an old friend who thought his "Motorcycle skill" in GTA 5 would equate to real skill on a real bike. He dropped his first bike many times, and quit after a month. Who woulda guessed☠️
I like that in the "girls fighting with their bikes" scene, the "bad" girl had dark lipstick and the "good" girl had light lipstick. Kinda like black hat vs white hat in the cowboy movies!
If you want fantastically ridiculous motorcycle work : Megaforce from 1982 is for you. Especially the last scene. Be prepared for an hilariously goodbad 80s flick.
13:40 I can testify to this as I hit a deer about a year ago on my bike. The deer hardly moved, my motorcycle came to almost a complete stop, rolled over and scraped down the road and I went flying like fifteen feet
You should find a copy of "Then Came Bronson". Some times when he rides the Sportster offroad it looses a cylinder and becomes British. All stunts are done by Bud Ekins of "The Great Escape Fame" btw. You also should have included the Simpsons biker episode. It was more believable than Torque. Lol
Regarding the GI Joe Snake Eyes bikes, I believe they're Energica bikes with custom fab body made for the movie. Probably why they have a hint of some of the popular modern bikes like the Superveloce etc. On one of the bikes you can still see the Energica twin-headlight front, while the others have a single custom round headlight.
I think there ws a similar video with Casey Stoner doing the reviews. I think he mostly got the same comments as you. For the Tom Cruise form, I think he mentioned that using the knee is only for having a reference point for lean angle, and that its pretty scetchy without kneepads :D. So to sum it up, in many cases in movies the movements are technically correct, but used for wrong reasons.
I'm surprised that you got through as much Torque as you did. They could at least had the girls riding Suzuki Katanas for the fight for a bit more "realism". It was a nice mix of ridiculous & awesome though. Hopefully the RUclips gods realise that it's a reaction video & allow you to do more. This one was a blast.
Torque is a brilliant film if you watch it like the fast and furious films as intended, and completely remove your brain first, one of my favourite terrible motor B movies 😂
Note how often those girls had their hand off the throttle during their battle. Of course in real life the bike would suddenly decelerate as soon as the hand came off. Motorcycles are exciting enough. No need to use CGI or gravity and logic defying fakery. Hell, real riders like Travis Pastrana or Colby Raha are actually performing crazier stunts than the movie team can imagine.
Dirt Bikes? I’m surprised you didn’t mention how every 4-stroke dirt bike has 2-stroke sounds dubbed in and every 2-stroke has 4-stroke sounds and often switching between 2 and 4 strokes mid-ride. EVERY TIME! I challenge you to find a movie with dirt bikes where they get the motor sounds correct.
That might be the bike scene that bothers me the most in a movie. The entire movie was so well done that it makes the completely wrong sound stand out even more.
the Triumph TR6 Trophy was used in TGE because no German motorcycle of the time or even near it had the suspension to handle the fence jump - a BMW R75s would have snapped in half on the landing. Even the Bonneville was anachronistic - it's the 1961 model. Also, McQueen refused to straddle a BMW.
The Rogue Nation motorcycle scene was amazing. I knew nothing about motorcycles when I watched it, but it felt more realistic than any other motorcycle chase scene I've watched. And in none of them do the riders lean over that far. It was the first time that made me think motorcycles are cool.
15:19 I did once get rear ended by a car once, while I was on my 150cc bike, it was not a light bike like the dirt bike here though...and the car did apply brakes, but it was still faster than my speed, while I had just began accelerating......I did see it coming though, so I accelerated hard at the last moment, and I got pushed forward by several feet...other than a hard neck jerk and a bent license plate, nothing really happened.
Good vid! For exploding bikes in real life, watch IOM TT crash compilation. The catch on the Morocco location was a good one. Having ridden in Morocco definitely looks like the real location. Should be on every adventurous riders bucket list! But agree as a rider most motorcycle action in movies is cringy to the point of being unwatchable. You don't need to be a regular rider to know where the throttle and clutch are...
In T2 running through the gate. I've always seen it as an odd thing to do with a motorcycle like that. Even as a kid. BUT, he's a terminator. There is the off chance that he's actually capable of perfectly calculating all the physics involved in that gate crash to make it look like it did. As long as you don't damage the bike doing that, it's plausible to hit the gate just so right as to where it doesn't upset the bike at all.
Also, he mentions that it would throw the front wheel sideways BUT it's Terminator holding the handle bars! Not some average joe or human for that matter
When Arnold punches through the chain gate, sure the front tire is taking the impact and a normal person would have a problem, but this is a terminator robot doing it, so he can just iron-grip that front wheel into submission.
Motorcyclist for 54 years. My most spectacular stunt was easy peasy. My brother and I were on dirt bikes and went under a bridge with a resurfacing project top side. Well later in the day my brother broke his chain. Passing back under the bridge a second time, I headed back to the house to get a tow rope. Riding back to rescue my brother I was approaching the bridge for a third time. A guy top side sees me coming and runs down under the bridge and picks up one end of an extension ladder he placed to block my path. As I approached I pulled a wheelie and punched the ladder with the front tire just like in the movies. The ladder flew out of his hands and I bump bump rode right over the barricade like it was not there. The guy was stunned and screaming at me as I rocketed on by. Ha Ha. It was a beautiful thing. Needless to say we found an alternative way back home. I tell this story to prove a motorcycle can indeed punch its way thru a barricade like a boss. BUMP BUMP BRAAAAP BRAAAAP 😎
Great video! One other movie scene you should check out, I think it was Mission Impossible Fallout movie where Tom Cruise is riding an R9T through Paris(?) and as we all know the boxer engine doesn’t sound like an in-line 4. How does this get through editing? Oh yeah it’s done by people who have zero clue what different motorcycles engines really sound like!
ONE of my BIGGEST ISSUES with motorcycles portrayed in films is the sound of the various bikes engines, where one film a single cylinder dirt bike will sound like a high revving inline 4, or, a 2 stroke will sound like a 4 stroke (eg a 'Stroker trailie' sounding like a thumper 'mud plugger' or visa versa), a BMW (or other) twin sounding like a 16v race bike, or, even a 4 cyl sounding like a BLOODY SINGLE! and more SOUND EDITING MADNESS! And YEAH, like others have mentioned, JUST DO NOT get me started on the unending upshifts! THEN... You have scenes where bikes will crash/ram through barriers etc, and you think "YEAH RIGHT, it's NOT like the front forks will FOLD IN!" 😒😒😒 (And other STUPIDLY CONTRIVED SCENES!)... JEEEEEEEEEEEZUSSSS! 😒😒😒 😎🇬🇧
My only comment is on Terminator 2 with the gate scenes. The terminator weighs so much that the bike may have remained stable. Online it says they weigh about 640 lbs. The fact that it can carry him though is amazing all by itself. The bike would have shattered on the drop though for sure.
According to Sarah Connor in Dark Fate, the T-800 series Terminator weighs around 400 pounds, but The Sarah Connor Chronicles suggest that the unit is 640 pounds
One movie worth searching for is L’aggression a French crime thriller from 1975. Incredible shots of kawa triples being thrashed senseless, peg scraping, wheelies two up, all on public roads.
Some of my favorite Movies with motorcycle scenes not mentioned in this vid: Akira. The Matrix Reloaded Mission Impossible 2 Realism and Physics whatever...these were cool scenes.

The T2 scene was actually done on a stock Fat Boy but it was with cranes and wires, ridden by Peter Kent. Sparks were real. It took about 20 takes because either parts broke off, or the spark wasn't good enough. The sound was just slowed down that's why it didn't sound like a Harley V-twin. Scene is iconic. My top 3 favorite movie of all time, tied with the Dark Knight and American Sniper.
apparently in T2, at the start of the scene you showed, when the t1000 is chasing john connor through the parking garage, rober patrick ran so quickly they had too reshoot multiple times from him catching the dirtbike
This was an awesome display of what can and can't be done on a motorcycle. I thought the Daniel Craig jump was assisted by some cables for sure, but then again I don't jump motorcycles, so it's great to see someone dig deep into what could make these stunts possible and genuinely enjoy when they are done right. I've never seen a video by you before, but this one is awesome.
MOTO MOVIE MADNESS!!!! Love it. And thank you SO MUCH for including The Great Escape. McQueen not only has the best motorcycle chase of all time, but the best car chase too (Bullitt).
The Great Escape. Back in the 60s jumping a motorbike was all that was needed. Now people get more. The Triumph Scrambler riding through the jungle with a pack of raptors is the 21st century evolution of the Bonneville

When you talk about Steve McQueen and how back then they had a used bikes that just weren’t designed for that sort of stuff because they didn’t exist. Look at Evel Knievel and the bike that he was riding back in the day. If he had a modern bike Way back, then just imagine what he would’ve been able to do.
I never complain about gear; yeah, I don't expect actors to wear a lot of gear for the same reason I don't expect them to wear helmets with their armor in a period piece. Rule of cool, abd youve got to see his face.
@spitescorner If you happen to do a part 2, you should check: Fled (1996) - Ducati Chasing Scene. I think it is nice ^^ And had a ton of fun watching your review of these scenes, cheers :)
The fun part of the chase scene in the storm drain is that the Terminator in the Tractor trailer completely destroys the entire front end of the tractor trailer when it hits the ground. You can clearly see the axle break in half and both wheels go out to the sides. Next scene, the bad guy is gunning a still drivable truck. i was laughing as soon as I saw those wheels. Most Hollywood chase scenes feature destroyed front ends... from Dukes of Hazzard ..... to Gone in Sixty Seconds. You jump it ten feet or smack it over a curb going sixty, in real life, your driving is done. And your back might be broken as well.
No Biker Boyz? Kinda want to know what you would think about the metal sparkers on the boots in that one scene where they're goofing off on the highway
The Tom Cruise thing, he got on one of the bikes the bad guys were riding, in a hurry, like no time to put on the gear. The thing I hate is when the guy is riding a street bike, chased by guys in a car, then the bike goes off road an the bike changes to a dirt bike then back again to a street bike. Low budget films do this a lot.

Plus she was only a few seconds ahead of him. She wouldn't have had the time to stop, put it on a sidestand, and get out into the road.
The bike John used is a four stroke Honda xr with a 2 stroke noise dubbed over it.
@@kevinjones3900 You are correct. My Dad picked this up straight away when we were watching it at the time, and I'm like: 'shut up, Dad...'
@kiryskao9962 You are also right, the bike had a kind of harness attached to it, which lowered it to the deck much more gently than gravity alone would have it. The harness was then removed from the frame digitally, if I remember rightly.
This was fun mate! Enjoy the vacation 👊😊
That bugged the crap out of me then, as much as it does now
I was wondering where I could buy those magic tires.
I love the biker boys movie
Cognitive Dissonance - as a professional airline Pilot I get that all the time when there's something airplane related in a movie. Drives me nuts! 😂
@@KZ900R The stunt guys were great. The stars were on a trailer.
Yamaha XS I think?
And then the cb 750 nighthawk later in the show 😮💨 TWD bike scenes are so legit
If you look closely. The German soldier in The Great Escape, chasing Steve McQueen, is Steve McQueen. (It happens previous to the jump) Bud Elkin was the stand in
“Cognitive dissonance” is when you believe two contradictory things. In other words, it is suspending disbelief. It’s the opposite of seeing something you know is wrong. It’s seeing something you should know is wrong but finding a way to go on believing it anyway.
I got cognitive dissonance reading this comment as it contradicted what I believed was cognitive dissonance
Cognitive dissonance is when the act of holding two (or more) mutually exclusive beliefs starts to become unsupportable. It's that "hey, wait a minute" moment when you realize that what you think you know might not actually be true. It is _not_ willing suspension of disbelief.
@@OgamiItto70 That moment only comes when you believe two contradictory things, so: Sorry, not sorry.
@@emmettturner9452 Mmm. Proud of your willful ignorance. Not a good look. Good luck with it.
@@OgamiItto70 “Hey, Siri, define ‘Cognitive Dissonance”
Cognitive Dissonance:
the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.
“The state of having,” **not** the state of realizing.
You are simply wrong. When you realize the incompatibility is when you are forced to reconcile them and the dissonance ends.
He was on the flight line as well right?
He didn't follow the rules while in a jet, so why would he obey them on a bike? 🙆♂️ I considered that a movie thing to establish Maverick as a wild man who didn't respect authority. But yeah, he'd have his base driving priveleges revoked and have to bicycle to work at a minimum if caught.
The thing is , if he wears a helmet people will be able to say that's not Tom doing the riding himself.
Its movie world, none of that matters except looking good. Which is why Tom Cruise was the star, thats all he does is look good
Maybe consider why the character is called 'Maverick' ...
On Torque... imagine the bike being totally stable on a straight line while people move vigorously on top of it.
He's a Terminator! 😂
in the bond one, i’m pretty sure for the big jump, they used a dirt bike and disguised it as the XE. also, some guys in england (i think) replicated the steve mcqueen jump on one of those XEs, and even with a skilled rider it was a massive jump and the suspension bottomed out and nearly bucked him off. still amazing.
also i sent you the bond scene although i’m sure many others did, thanks for including it!!
And I think there was a slope instead of stairs
Pity that he didn't have a friend to teach and guide him.
@@davecoop9579 I tried my hardest lmao, then he got kicked out of his MSF Course XD
There's many dashcam record that in my country, thats makes my mom always have bad feeling when i'm riding a bike
Lol
My father rode with Bud and his brother Dave. Both Dave and Bud Ekins are in the Motorcycle hall of Fame.
Please do a part 2 lol this was hilarious
The biggest thing for me is the sound not matching the bike at all - wrong type of motor and doesn't follow what the bike is doing.
Bro the Dethklok pinch harmonic is such a nice touch! 🤣
The sound when the Harley jumps into the canal is actually what a reving Harley sounds like when the audio is slowed down
I think there ws a similar video with Casey Stoner doing the reviews.
MTT Y2K Turbine SUPERBIKE = "Nothing to talk about" in first Torque scene?.....
What he showed of Torq was about all that is tolerable. Anything more and you will be embarrassed to ride a motorcycle.
“On Any Sunday” doesn’t count! 😂
Also in T2, Connor’s dirt bike had a 2 stroke sound but I think it was actually a XR100.
You got that right. I always laugh about that one😂
Maybe the extra weight of the terminator makes the bike more solid going through the gates?
Loved the vid. Considering that I first got into motorcycles from watching tv/movies I think it’s good that we level ourselves in reality sometimes.
'Black rain' (1989) opening scene should be here. Iconic . Thanks ❤
torque would be much better if it just was an anime, then all the movie magic would be justifiable
The Rogue Nation motorcycle scene was amazing. I knew nothing about motorcycles when I watched it, but it felt more realistic than any other motorcycle chase scene I've watched. And in none of them do the riders lean over that far. It was the first time that made me think motorcycles are cool.
The T2 MC scene was done on wires. They just cropped them out on windows. (3.1 most likely)
The exhaust sound switching from 2-stroke to 4-stroke is the best!
I love seeing professionals take about their craft and how Hollywood gets it wrong.
Years ago, I grabbed a copy of Torque from the discount bin. Watched a few minutes, then I threw it in the garbage.
Awesome video! I love another mission impossible bike scene where their street magically get knobby tires. it's great stuff.
If you want to see a good example of a bike exploding on impact, Google Guy Martin Isle Of Man TT crash, Hollywood couldn’t have done better
"do bikes explode?"..... Guy Martin, Isle of Man TT OH YES have a look for that one. Great video thank you.
Fun fact. They put a bigger lever on that shotgun for Arnold so he could one hand it. He did it on a normal size and almost broke his hand
5:00 - 8:00 The main reason for the fights on the motorcycles is an excuse to show all that leather and satisfy the spectator's fetish for leather
😎🇬🇧
My only comment is on Terminator 2 with the gate scenes. The terminator weighs so much that the bike may have remained stable. Online it says they weigh about 640 lbs. The fact that it can carry him though is amazing all by itself. The bike would have shattered on the drop though for sure.
The stunt breakdown came with the dvd, the bike is totally wired up and they just lowered him down. Pretty cool really.
Some of my favorite Movies with motorcycle scenes not mentioned in this vid:
Akira.
The Matrix Reloaded
Mission Impossible 2
Realism and Physics whatever...these were cool scenes.
As a longtime geek, I’m honor bound to mention exploding high-voltage computer keyboards and rapid, extemporaneous password hacking.
Amazing t-shirt! They are an amazing band and friends of mine here in Sweden. Im also in a band and we've played together a couple of times. Nice to see you promote a great band from Sweden!
My top 3 favorite movie of all time, tied with the Dark Knight and American Sniper.
sound was of a cylinder biek actually if you reasearch it
Bro My favorite is Trinity in the Matrix , with the Key Man on the Back of the Ducati !! NO RULES !!!!!
apparently in T2, at the start of the scene you showed, when the t1000 is chasing john connor through the parking garage, rober patrick ran so quickly they had too reshoot multiple times from him catching the dirtbike
McQueen not only has the best motorcycle chase of all time, but the best car chase too (Bullitt).
the roque movie section made me want to play "road redemption"
The Great Escape. Back in the 60s jumping a motorbike was all that was needed. Now people get more. The Triumph Scrambler riding through the jungle with a pack of raptors is the 21st century evolution of the Bonneville
I liked this video a lot. Good to know I'm not the only one getting frustrated, when they're doing the engine sound wrong (Venom).
LMAO right along with you on torque. Something in that scene made me want one of those women. Got dew in the fridge. I'm 77 and I remember Bud Ekins. This was a great video. i loved it. Thanx.
Glad to uploaded anyways. Christmas Eve is as great a time as any to discover your channel, but a great time to kick back and relax.
Bond Skyfall also had a kick ass moto scene!!! Great video btw…now I’m off to find out how they did the T2 Harley jump!
I don’t know how these spy’s can keep up with there Moto GP level riding skills with all the more important spy work they have to do.😂
How do you not do Matrix Reloaded and Blade 2?????
