One detail I loved in this ep was how Touya's inner voice was still a child when he woke up despite his voice getting deeper 😭

When he woke up, Touya spoke with his 16 year-old voice but was still thinking using his 13 year-old voice. This shows that mentally, he was still a kid. It's a nice detail that really makes everything more depressing 😔😭
His hair transitioning into white was also showing how his character was changing
Phosphorus, which Shoto’s new move is named after can be both a flame retardant and a flame accelerant depending on the compound. The former is what Shoto is effectively using.
Shoto's new move is basically pure equilibrium. The Ice side completely cools down the fire side, and the fire side warms the ice side. Allowing him to increase the intensity of both sides with 0 harm to his body.

Ehhh knock off three years mentally to age 21 years old, but yeah 😂 I do think that- while Dabi hides it well- Shouto's question gave Dabi some measure of PTSD triggers, and it was trauma promoting Dabi to go overboard, there.
@@emilylee9568 i was making a joke...hence why i said trauma aside because i knew someone like you would mention his trauma and shi. And nothing about dabis current charcter says hes mentallly the age of 21. He "died' at 13 woke up around 16 to 17 and hes 24 now i highly doubt he was forever 3 year younger mentally especially if he had to survive and fend for himself for almost a whole decade. And regardless him being mentally 21 isnt better than him mentally 24. And dabi doesnt hite anything well did we not watch the same episode? Pre war arc dabi hides things well this is thre real dabi he isnt hiding anything well

I just realized that when Dabi said he knew what the doctor had in store for him....he's saying he knew he and AFO were planning on souring him against heroes and then letting him die so they could use him as the base for a nomu. Gotta have that villainous intent as a base for their personalities
Phosphor is basically icy fire, like Izuku said. Shoto can create big chunky blocks of ice, but it's much harder to freeze objects at a distance rather than punching them with ice spikes. This lets him essentially have Endeavor's Quirk but the fire freezes things.
Everything aside, Dabi's past is very horrific and i actually felt bad for him but cant blame shoto tho

Phosphor is a bit hard to understand. So basically Endeavor’s whole goal was to lower his body temperature through Ice - which would let him produce more AND hotter flames without his body burning. Dabi took this to the extreme, because he kept raising his power, but just disregarded pain and damage to himself. Shoto is instead RAISING his body’s temperature similar to his brother through Fire to a point where it would normally damage him and is almost at Dabi’s level, but he also is using Ice at a high rate to keep his body intact while being able to use the flames. Think about it as just temperature, with Shoto being able to switch to the exact same temp whenever he wants - only now it’s the negative number and FREEZING. He can basically switch between REALLY hot and cold at will now, and whatever he uses will not damage him as he has achieved perfect balance, but only when using Phosphor. It’s sort of symbolic of Endeavor seeing Ice as a secondary aid to his Fire - whereas Shoto sees the full potential of both when used correctly. Any “flames” Shoto makes in Phosphor can be either insanely cold or hot depending on what he decides.

Dabi's finale is absolutely one of the best storylines and most awesome fights in the manga 🤩😍
This episode is so sad but very dark. Those kids all became nomus, AFO and daraki really are the devil praying on hurt kids to make them experiments. Dabi’s case is so sad he is just hurting from being neglected. I really hope endeavour talks to him after this battle and let him know he’s enough! Without class 1-a and deku shoto would have been a dabi.
This episode was so good, I didn't imagine that Dabi was in a coma after that accident and I didn't expect him to come home, and over Shoto he finally gained a new power.

If you saw ben 10 you would know fr. Ultimate bigchill can do pretty much the same. Fire but its cold . Perfect for someone like shoto who wants to be a hero since cold fire of shoto is not as lethal as ice or fire.
Love your reaction. As a manga fan looking forward to seeing this animated, Bones brought out the series art director for the art in this episode, Umakoshi himself. He seems to love doing Todoroki family episodes and he went hard on every shot!
12:12 In my understanding: What he has on his heart is just to keep his body at a perfect temperature no matter how strong he wants to use one of his abilities (fire/ice). And we can see him use his right side, with a condenced ice it looks like, with no repercution on his body. Using it at a so strong level that it can be compared to a flashfire but on his right side of the body (cold)
12:00 it is supposed to be a move only for daby, i believe that this is trully cold flames, like midoria said, the agressivenes of fire to deal with daby, while the cold effect to cool dabys head, again, i think this is to escalate down, not to cause chaos, but to control chaos itself.
It definitely appears to be frostfire or something. It is fire but he controls the temperature. He chose to lower the fire's temperature to it's lowest (too low it actually freezes which is crazy).

Shoto embracing his power further as his own was honestly great to see. I couldn’t be prouder. Also, something I can never say enough is how I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life.
It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks.
He can now use his flammes to froze people which is way better than his normal ice because flammmes are more versatile(he can still fly in the air with that which was not available with the normal ice) so let’s say he can now fight like endeavor but instead of heat , it’s freezing
Shoto is nowhere endeavor level neither dabi either is like you saying shoto can defeat dabi on 1v1
Current Shoto no, but a fully mastered phosphor can easily do so, he basically has infinite stamina with freezing flames.

The ability works differently depending on shoto is using it internally or externally.
Externally would be like what he did to deku in the sports festival, due to fire needing oxygen, the fire is forced to become hotter and expand in order to survive in th cold air after shoto freezes it.
when shoto does it internally, he's filtering and mixing the cold to in his heart (which is on his fire side and so heat is already there) and pumping it through his body, but beceasue there's no external oxygen for the fire to feed, on doesn't get hotter and expand.
Instead it's rapidly cooled internally to the point that when it leaves shoto internally (via being on his skin, shooting it etc) it becomes cold fire instead

The new power isn't one he expresses outwards, its more similar to Deku's Full Cowling ability which then allowed Deku to create new stronger moves than he normally would have been able to use. It spreads his fire and ice throughout his body, heating his ice side and cooling his fire side so he can push both sides further without the normal drawback. If he tried pulling off the Great Glacial Aegir move without Phosphor active, he likely would have frozen over himself, or at least be covered in frost and slowed down similar to how he was in the tournament when he went overboard with his ice there. Since Phosphor is pumping the heat from his fire side though his body though, he can push past his normal limit and create bigger ice attacks, or vice versa thanks to the cold of his ice side also spreading through his body.
I never fully understood what Phosphor is but I think it's just something he uses to regulate his own body temperature so he can fire off attacks at max power without worrying about getting too cold or too hot, and also to help reduce Dabi's heat

I like to think of it as complete temperature control. It’s like an evolution of Tsuna from Katekyo Hitman, but instead of just freezing or reversing heat, shoto can do both whenever he wants by controlling that balance. So he can basically neutralize any extreme within his limits.
So basically: if you recall the sports festival (that was so long ago I understand haha) one of shoto’s main limitations in his fight against deku was that the more he used his ice, the colder and by extension, physically weaker he got. This new equilibrium he has reached allows him to keep his personal thermostat at a very comfortable temp, WHICH will allow his attacks to go even colder with even grander effects without hurting his body with the cold. Presumably, this also works with his fire side, we just haven’t seen him use it that way
