I have been mountain biking for 35 years. I remember when dudes could shred on hardtails. People rode the same bike and got dialed on it, so you developed that true feeling that the bike is an extension of your body. There was a lot less worry about suspension setup, more focus was put on learning the bike, and people rode all the time. When we could we rode to the trailhead, rode, then rode home. I don't see that anymore. Sincerely, Jeremy
Bought a Scout in the Black Friday sales. I have the contact points all sorted and the suspension set up. All I need now is the strength and fitness I had twenty years ago, when I was in my forties. That said, the modern geometry and 1x12 gears help, a lot, compared with my older hardtails. Looking forward to more winter mud and snow.
I started mountain biking in the 90s and learned on 3x9. Honestly the 1x12s look cooler, clean up the cockpit and add simplicity but the gear range is limited compared to 3x or 2x and there are times I miss the front derailleur.
Those Nuke Proof are awesome. I love them both. Hardtail, an a Full squishy. Plus I love those bikes, because they give you good product for the price.
Went from a Cube Hanzz Freeride Bike to a 2021 Commencal Meta HT Essential one year ago! 190/180mm to 160/0! Best decision ever - Hardtails are the best!!!
Personally, I dont ride hardtail but I still found this video entertaining. The quality of the videos here on the gmbn channel just don't stop getting better, keep up the great work!
I have said this before on here. But the thing I really like about hardtails is that they are more predictable. With full suspension you need to have the rear shock set up for what you are riding. If you have too much rebound you might get bucked on jumps and so on. With a hardtail you always have the same feel, which may not always be smooth but you learn how to absorb with your legs and like in this video, push your heels down into the pedals. I love it that you brought up pedals and shoes and how you place your feet. I see so many people with crappy pedals and shoes like running shoes. No wonder they talk about not being able to keep their feet on the pedals...😂 I do love riding my full suspension bike and I have it pretty dialed, but there is something super pure about riding a hardtail aggressively!
With my hardtail XC MTB, I always bike conservatively. Line choice is very critical with speed, as far as I am concerned. Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
Great episode love my hardtail there is nowt else have been trying to find those Poc glasses to no avail what are they where can i get them thanks in advance
This is really helpful, I am just getting into mountain biking and I bought a cannondale hardtail trial bike. This and other videos of yours are extremely helpful to me.
Love my hardtail biggest thing to consider is dialing in the right tire choice and psi. I ride a 27.5 plus tires at 18psi which helps tremendously for all the small stuff.
Great little vid Neil i am going back to a hard tail simply because my skills have faded sooooo much through working abroad i feel it will do me good to get back to basic fundamentals and practice those skills once again
Hi GMBN, I have been searching, but can't find it. Did you ever do a review on the Canyon Grand Canyon? I do have one, and am curious what youre opionion is about this model.
Sorry for the stupid question, but how do you get more grip with a full sus going through berms? Isn't that just down to tyres and weight position ? First time ive heard someone mention this ?? Great video as usual
Because a hartail's rear tire will bounce off any imperfection in the corner making you lose grip. A full sus will stay stuck to the ground if it's setup well.
I was told that you should have your knees either parallel or angled out rather than pinching in to help maintain balance… is it personal preference, or is there an “optimal” knee position?
I don't think it has anything to do with just the knees; I personally like to be just a bit above the saddle hunched over in I guess you could say semi-attack position, arms out but not locked. Upper body for sure balancing more than lower.
I feel like everyone forgets we used to ride bikes wuth no suspension. I've riden a hybrid on 28c tyres down trails. If its got wheels you can roll over just about anything.
After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.
At 5:52 there's a "musician" dropping the N-bomb sometimes, and I think it is inappropriate for a mountainbiking tutorial. My 10 and 12 y.o. kids agree.
Dude you must be hella deaf, because I didn’t hear the N-word not once, and repeatedly listened out for it, I’m half black myself, and you need to relax on trying to start up drama that’s not there. Make sure you tells your kids the same thing💯
If I go any faster, I'll crash. I see 1/2 the segment riders ahead of me complaining about their latest injuries and months of physical rehab. No thanks. I'll ride within my means.

Great content 😎👍🏽
Just purchased a Merida big trail 400 ..can't wait to give it a go.
I have the 500.. Such a great bike that is often overlooked.

Love my hardtails, so pure, so fast, so fun.
Hardtails for hard trails 🤷♀️👍🏻🤫

Hello @gmbn, can you please tell me where I can get those same Ergon Saddle?
Everyone wanna be like Mike Lowrey
@@BlueKnows I am pretty sure I was just asking for the saddle.
Great vid. Where is location?
Hi, Steve! We filmed this out in La Fenasosa Bike Park. 👍
For almost all the trails I ride my hardtail is more than adequate. The affordability, ease of maintenance and setup are hard to beat.
Tire pressure will make or break a ride especially on a hardtail
Yahooo agreed
aaahaaaa hardtail again!send it!owwww yeeaahhhh!!!🤘
A lot of people in our place buy full suspension when all they do is ride on pavement and very light trails. Hardtails are enough for 80% of riders
I ❤ Hardtails
I set a KOM on a local DH trail today on a hardtail
What do you think are some good hardtail brands on the market?
Please do XC content more
Hardtail is the best for long distance riding on normal ground as compared to full sus
I bought a hardtail shortly after I got my full suspension and found myself riding the hardtail more often 😅
Hardtail’s for hard men😤
I just love my hardtail
