Love it when you guys do hardtail videos! I wish there was a dedicated hardtail channel. Trials, dirt jump, street and maybe just maybe ebike hardtails allowed too. Well not too sure about that last one yet.
As both a hardtail owner, and a newish rider, these types of videos are always a welcome sight. I've watched all the GMBN videos on how to do this stuff, yet I still learn something from this one too...Good work Neil..
I recently switched back to a hardtail myself, love it. I really believe that a hardtail can make you a better rider overall by relying on your skills versus the bike's capabilities. Dying to get a newer plus hardtail too....love the vids
Hey guys, great hardtail content this last week (and as always) The one thing I feel like you guys fail to mention though is how awesome dropper posts are on a hardtail. With a dropper post you get plenty of ‘rear travel’ from your legs... add that to ‘modern geometry’ and you have a winner.
Was out on my Radon Race 8 today on a new track. Fitted Nobby Nics 2.35 x 29 on it tubeless and it gives me much more confidence on trails be they narrow or rocky. Took the easier trail as fist time riding that area but had fun climbing like a mountain goat and bunny hopping over logs. Waiting on my dropper post to arrrive also which will make drops and technical downhill sections easier (can‘t be faffed using quick release on my seat post). All in all, fun. GMBN vids inspire me and I like the exercise and nature. Gotta get some better wheels as well but the 20mm rims are doing better than I imagined. Long live the Hard Tail.
Been watching basically all of your hardtail videos as I just build myself a HT, half because I got nostalgic as its been probably a decade since I’ve ridden one and partially because they just look so damn good. I have definitely noticed how much stiffer my legs have gotten right away!
Good stuff. I have a XL NukeProof Scout 275 on 140mm Pikes and 38mm wheelset and a L Ragley Marley on 150mm Pikes....tbe Scout is a friggin monster-truck of a bike and the Ragley is an absolute surgical tool on the trails. Sure, I give up a bit of speed but the satisfaction of very good riding technique, simplicity of servicing, the cost is unbeatable.
@@TheGstvjd i find riding a hardtail a lot more tiring on the legs, so i find it good training for winter (back when i used to ride in winter). i used to do longer rockier stuff in winter as opposed to the more loamy "fun" stuff in the summer, which is usually too muddy in the winter.
Nice! Thanks for the Hard-tail focused videos mates! my wife & I got into MTB-ing because of your awesome channel, and we're both on beginner hardtails! Keep it coming, we're enjoying it a lot
Enjoying seeing Neil back! (Still love Blake though!) Also want a bit of doddy at least once in the dirt shed show sometime? It would be great to see the whole crew back together again!
Full suspension = more moving parts = more breakable parts = more money to produce/maintain Hardtail = less moving parts = less breakable parts = less money to produce/maintain
I rode tidworth freeride on a demo whyte 150 recently and if anything, I was less confident on the full squish. Don’t get me wrong the whyte was excellent but I was avoiding features because I didn’t have the confidence to pump/hop through the suspension, definitely a hardtail for me until I improve
I started riding in the winter in a full sus. The bushings have worn out and replacing them is taking forever. I’ve been off my bike all summer so far... something to keep in mind about having a complicated full sus.
Problem is my trek marlin 7 is heavy. Some hardtail are in the $3000 plus range. Ran into a dude on the trail the other day who had one. It had carbon fiber wheels and a carbon fiber frame.
hello i want a hardtail at less than 500€ but everyone in your video best hardtail of the year are not deliverable in france so idk what should i choose can som1 help pls ? ( a hardtail that can jump and where i can learn skills and do trails )
I feel like as a female it's harder for me. But I don't give up that easy. I have a expert specialized rockhopper. I'm feeling pretty confident on it over narly terrain. But at times can't get my bike to lift a bit more as I'm going up hill and there is a big root in the way.
Hi what travel would you recommend for a hardtail? And the sort of riding your doing in this video, . I am looking at the GT avalanche elite , which has 100mm . It's really nice spec and i prefer that. But I know th3 voodoo hood has a 120mm fork. Which one should I go for. I would go for the GT if the suspension travel would be enough. Do u think 100mm is enough??
#askgmbn hi, if I were to buy a smaller hardtail frame to have a more lively bike that is better for jumps, would a bike with a 61 degree head angle be too slack for a smaller frame, I am looking at the btr fabrications belter with 26 inch wheels, I'm 5 foot 9
Love the bike design ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube. All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.
hi guys... i have a question... i have a hardtail XC wich i enjoy a lot, but also i have a spine injury and had to had a surgery, my question is does a full sus bike will be easy on my spine ?? i don't ride too hard because of my back... thanks a lot..
Depends on your very condition - fullys definately take the punch out of certain features. But i think with a spinal injury your (careful) riding bike choice won't make much of a difference. Either way, consult your doctor!
I’ve had my lower back fused and found a full suspension bike better for me because I’m not being jarred and bounced around so much making it more enjoyable and not causing me pain I ride xc but also give downhill a go sometimes Hope this helps
better try cheap bike instead a cyborg hardtail with gravity rims on it and 2.6 diameter cuz they have so much air on them that he pedal at the pacific too
Neil jumps on a hardtail! Should he get on the fat bike next?
I believe Neil to be incredible on the trail, if he wants to fat bike it, yes. If he prefers not to, good.
Sumo neil vs sumo sam
Yass
Unless there’s a magical sand trail on some beach or somebody wants to attempt riding across a river...never.
Him and Blake should have a battle between hardtail and fat bike
hardtail for life 🤘
Hey yeah hardtail gang
@@ReecePowell yes Hardtail gang 🤟🏻🤟🏻
4life 🤘🏼
why Iove hardtails=
hardtail frame=300$
full suspension frame=1400$
true, unless you use literally unknown brand which make good frames for low price, Java Furia, terrible parts but the frame is quite good for 500 USD
Cheers to all you mtb dudes and 🙋 on every corner of this magnificent planet 🌎
Nick Watkins You too pal ..✌
Thank you!
I see hardtail. I instantly watch.
Love it when you guys do hardtail videos! I wish there was a dedicated hardtail channel. Trials, dirt jump, street and maybe just maybe ebike hardtails allowed too. Well not too sure about that last one yet.
Check out hardtail party if you have not come across it already
As both a hardtail owner, and a newish rider, these types of videos are always a welcome sight. I've watched all the GMBN videos on how to do this stuff, yet I still learn something from this one too...Good work Neil..
We need more and more hardtail content GMBN!
Hardtail is elegant. Simple but super. You have to be one with the bike. Just a better spiritual connection
I recently switched back to a hardtail myself, love it. I really believe that a hardtail can make you a better rider overall by relying on your skills versus the bike's capabilities. Dying to get a newer plus hardtail too....love the vids
Brings you back to the simpler riding, and clearly highlights what you were doing wrong!
More hardtail content please. Thank you.
0:32 this looks like that spot in LOTR where the hobbits hide from the wraiths outside the Shire lol
#GMBN so glad I started on a hard tail.
Those nukeproof stems are so nice😍
They are, and even better in the flesh

A much needed video for us who ride hardtails.....thanks a lot GMBN!!
I love my commencal meta hardtail! i can commute with it during the week and shred trails on the weekend great all around bike.
That's how I use it too. Clocks ~100km/week
In the Netherlands it is mostly hardtail, cross country and clipped in. Love to see more hardtail / cross country video’s (with tips)
As a broke teen who owns only a budget hardtail GMBN is my hero thank you guys
Hardtail for winter, softail for summer. Excellent training!
Care to explain? Thank you

👍🏻hardtail, just started mtb'n and these videos are super helpful... thanks
Blake's Nukeproof Scout is sooo beautiful, makes me want to stick to hardtail
Nice! Thanks for the Hard-tail focused videos mates! my wife & I got into MTB-ing because of your awesome channel, and we're both on beginner hardtails! Keep it coming, we're enjoying it a lot
That's great!
Love the classic thumbnail with the classic hardtail! I’be got a full suspension but I’m saving up for a Vitus sentier vr+ !
Thanks for the tips Neill! Awesome!
Awesome Neil. Good production GMBN
Love a hardtail, Have been riding full sus for the last year but still miss my old hardtail!
Great video. As a life long hardtail rider, it's always great to get some tips and videos on them
Love your vids. Every time I watch a new vid I learn something and improve my biking skills thank u!! Ur best
GMBN is the best
Finally!!! Hardtails
Awesome Video!
Keep up the good work!

Yes more hardtails please!
All the hardtails!
I have both. Can't stay off my hardtail!

Same!
Awesome Scout! Glad I got mine before it sold out!
Gotta love a Hardtail!
i rode a hardtail for the better part of a lifetime, now i ride full suspension and i dont regret it
5:14 That killer look ! 😂😁
love riding that place you guys at won't name it tho
Great vídeo. Thanks guys
Cheers pni2009!
I still should my full sus and brought a 160 hardtail so stoked
Good video, Double check your front QR looks like it's pointing straight down.
What happened to this bike? you should make more vids featuring it, these type of hardtail videos are the best 🔥
Should make more videos on hardtail
Very good tips, great video :)
Dude, your quick release is hanging low!!! Clean it up Neil!
YES hard tail! More Hard tail!
Btw wanna ask is majority of hard tail's are cheaper than full sus?
Fury L1_NeVeRz yes! That’s why I am riding a hard tail.
Because they're simpler
Yes

Hardtails are awesome
I think I’m going to have to learn to hold a wheelie and manual. I can bunny hop small stuff.
Loving your work! What pedal and shoe combo are you rocking here?
I started riding in the winter in a full sus. The bushings have worn out and replacing them is taking forever. I’ve been off my bike all summer so far... something to keep in mind about having a complicated full sus.
Sad to hear - what's the problem? Bushings hard to find, unavailable?!
Le Typ I learned it’s the negative spring. For some reason my fork tops out really really hard.
Hi your so great I love hardtails
Is a carbon hardtail a good buy for a intermediate rider or should I go for a full suspension
Problem is my trek marlin 7 is heavy. Some hardtail are in the $3000 plus range. Ran into a dude on the trail the other day who had one. It had carbon fiber wheels and a carbon fiber frame.
That CB Highline dropper needs adjusting the cable or the under post "plug"- common issue.
Nice video👌
My technic on a hard tail is bomb everything and get used to bumpy stuff
Riding for 15 years and dont event sat on a full-suspension xD
👍
Very Nice
Cool video
Hardtail gang
I need to get a proper hardtail as a secondary to my enduro for flowier terrain
Hans Wurst Dartmoor Hornet, then you will forget your squish..
Is it harder to jump on a hardtail or full suspension
hello i want a hardtail at less than 500€ but everyone in your video best hardtail of the year are not deliverable in france so idk what should i choose can som1 help pls ? ( a hardtail that can jump and where i can learn skills and do trails )
Which pedals does Neil have on his bike in the video
If ones is only riding city streets and paved trails..is the hardtail MB only way to go? Is a 130mm trail or endure bike overkill???
I have a dh bike and hardtail but spend most of my time riding a £70 hardtail on my local tracks to try and make them harder [isaac]

Neil,
Do you prefer the Scout in the 27.5 or the 29 option?
Good video, but how about going really retro and comparing solid forks to suspension forks.
nice vid
What bike was that
2.1k likes and only 10 dislikes thats how you know its a good video
Hi sir, does 6061 aluminium hardtail frame can be used on trails?
What do you guys think of the cannondale catalyst 4 as a entry mountain bike
Whatever i try i can’t get my backweel in the air so i have to roll my back wheel over it, does someone have any tips?
I just prefer hardtail.. rode both and I feel cleaner on a hardtail.

#askgmbn I’m looking to get into slopestyle. What’s the best starting bike.
Is it ok to pick rooty sections when your riding for fun just bc the roots are fun. But I pick my lines well at races.
Of course! Ride which ever line you find the most fun!
Anyone know where this trail is? Looks cool
What frame size are you riding on this one niel?
Hardtail rule!!!! Evil imperial :D
Sweet
