General Brasch: we fixed a strange thing with the shield packs. Helldivers: daw… General: however your ingenuity gave the boys in R&D an idea, so they’ll be an upgrade on the turrets to have a frontal shield, that’s democracy at work!
@@selectyourvector9656 Now that they've added more melee options i think they should change it so that meleeing with the shield turns into a shield bash or something like that
Ok but there should be a ship updrade that puts a module on the current and any future stationary turrets that the shield can be inserted to that allows the shield to do this exact thing.
I LOVE new Directional Shield. it SOOO GOOD for support/defensive play! If you lie down you can act as a barricade to team/turrets, if you go CQC you can play as fencer, shielding bile from bile spewers, and all that, and this thing is has a HUGE health pool (i tanked 2 lasers from tir-pods back to back, and only then it discharged, like backpack).
Feel like a toned down version of this would be a feature later down the line, where the sides of the gun are still protected, but there'd be something like a "visor window" that only reduces incoming damage rather than completely negate it.
I found it weird that there's so many restrictions for a backpack that's mechanically a downgrade to the other shielding backpack support strategems. - Only active while ADSing; shield gen is always active. - Cannot stop melee hits; shield gen blocks and gates all damage. - Does not block ragdolling; shield gen stops enemy attacks ragdolling (but not enviroment/body collisions). - Can only be active while holding a one-handed weapon; again, shield gen is always active. - Has limited health pool; Ballistic shield has unlimited HP and cannot break. - Your feet can be sniped (in my usage); ballistic shield has a _very_ generous shielding angle, you're basically immune to all small arms fire from on screen with default FOV. This strategem is far to restrictive for no upsides outside of "if your teammate huddles right nex to you he can be shielded from small arms fire too." I'd like to see either of these two routes for buffs; 1. Turn it into a secondary or grenade slot weapon. Leave it as is or tighten up the shield length so it's hard to fit anyone besides the user behind it. It no longer directly competes with ballistic or shield gen as a strategem and instead combos with them. 2. Turn it into a toggleable, always on, no weapon restrictions, and make it slightly wider. Remodel it as a proper backpack and give it a HP bar on the back to show how much damage it's taken so yoy don't have to look at the backpack icon in the corner. Basically turn it into a Reinhardt shield from Overwatch strategem... or just release this idea seperately in the near future, make this current shield out of date; it would sell like hotcakes.
The directional shield should be able to have a toggle feature with d-pad down, like the guard dogs can. Have it be either "always on" or "only when ADS-ed." Then make the default always on, having it act similar to the backpack shield generator, and have it project when inside vehicles and emplacements. If the shield generator doesn't deactivate when inside a mech, emplacement, or vehicle, then why should this shield act differently? The tradeoffs should be only directional coverage, but lower strategem cooldown (it's cooldown is already about half a normal backpack's timer). I hate how it's only up when ADS-ing, only with a one handed weapons, and it doesn't provide collision and/or stop melee hits. It feels like a direct downgrade to the normal shield. If it was a "projected shield" that benefits more from controlling other strategems it would be more than a meme/niche pick that it is now. Honestly, I'm happy people are enjoying it but it's a terrible pick. I can't enjoy it myself and I assume it will be forgotten in lieu of the normal generator after the new toy syndrome wears off. I know some people are going to jump on me being negative or critiquing, saying things like "it's fun though, just don't use it" or "warbond exclusives are suppose to be bad so people don't feel obligated to buy them". I want to say thatI get it, but we could have decent sidegrades to baseline equipment while still keeping it fun. Right now the directional shield is a pure meme, I doubt people are genuinely maining it outside of spartan LARPing or lower difficulty mission players fooling around.

Honestly I don’t really like the forward shield. I’ve found the personal bubble is so much more effective for melee combat and general shield stuff. It also doesn’t take up your support slot.
The ballistic shield was already a joke of a strat and now it's an even bigger one. How can they give it some usefulness? Remodel it and allow people to use double-handed primaries with it. Real simple and fair

Yeah, everyone's right. It should just work like this anyway. It's too cool not to and using an entire stratagem slot just for a small energy shield like this isn't busted. Just remove invulnerability.
Honestly, it should be a feature. Make it available through ship modules.
I'd love to see more synergy in stratagems
@20x20 same.
That's it. Just, same.
Maybe just make it like that, if you have the vertical shield have it auto avtivate when you get in the hmg, you need a warbond to do it anyway
