“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” Tim Keller

So grateful Tim Keller was my pastor. God once used Tim to directly speak to me. (He had no idea - I was just someone at the question/answer session) I trembled for 24 hours. It never happened again

Pastor Keller was a big reason I became Christian after many years as an agnostic following decades of religious abuse. I was living in Manhattan and loved that his church welcomed agnostics and atheists. He said it was a church for skeptics--that was me! Wow, and I'd never heard of Pastor Sam Allberry (who delivered this homily), but am now enriched by Sam's ministry about singleness after looking him up. Even in his death, Pastor Keller provided me healing by putting Sam on my radar. Pastor Keller has blessed so many lives--what a witness of Christ's redemptive love for the world. Thank you for sharing this service with us.

Much love to this dear widow, Kathy Keller! What a wonderful speaking gift that she has. May she carry on Tim's vision for New York City and beyond! May God continue to comfort her and the entire Keller family. It is so obvious how loved their sons were by their dear father - may God carry them through their time of sorrow and grief.

God used Tim in such a powerful way in my life. “A reason for living” - was the name of the sermon that Tim preached that really convinced me of my need for Christ to be 1st in my life. Tim was there for me in my first days of walking with The Lord. He was someone I could look up when things were going badly and I needed hope in Christ. Tim was used massively by God in my life. I’m grateful for his manner, his warmth and humour. He would share the truth in love. Thank God for his life and who God made Tim to be.

Pastor Keller must’ve been only 72 or so. My darling Baba father just also passed @ 71, very unexpectedly. I am grateful to be able to look at Tim Keller’s sermons and writings to help comfort me for my vast grief. A worship service of praise to God for the LIFE OF MY FATHER. I wish we had had time or preparation bc using this service as a reference would’ve been humbling and beautiful and memorable for me, giving me a much needed solace. I thought of Pr. Tim recently when I remembered that he was pretty close to my dads age when Our Lord took him ❤

I really appreciate that Tim and Kathy were so thoughtful to put the memorial service program together while Tim was still alive. To me, this felt like a gift beyond the grave, an epilogue, a love message, farewell from one who is loved. While I will miss my former pastor, how he lived out his final years is a beautiful testimony from a man of faith and encouraging that God's ways are higher than our ways! I love that Keller's last sentiment was that he was ready to see Jesus. Well, Tim, you're home now and perfectly healed and we will see you again.

"Jesus shows us a God who has come to serve us; a God to whom we matter profoundly. A God who not only made you, but came up with the idea of you in the first place and was having a good day when he did. A God who sees you not according to your achievements, or your wealth or your looks, or your popularity, not even just according to your sins, but who sees you as worth his while serving. Some of us here this afternoon will be unsure whether we believe in God. Some of us may be very sure we don't believe in God. But I wonder if the God that you don't believe in is like this. And if God did exist, wouldn't you want him to be just like this? Jesus came to serve." -- Sam Alberry, Tim Keller Memorial Service

A wonderful service from start to finish, and how fitting that the grace of God should be so visible in the introductory greeting by Cardinal Dolan’s welcome to all there at the beginning. The homily (sermon) at 1:10 ish on this recording) was simply wonderful. It was indeed Tim’s character, shaped by his master, which was so often mentioned by those whom his life touched & so it must be with each of us as well. May he rest in peace and rise in glory and may his memory always be a blessing to those who loved him and by those whom he loved. What hope we have in Jesus’s words to us in John 14. We have that to look forward to one day ourselves, as we are joined with the Lord who came to serve and gave his life as a ransom for us. Soli Deo Gloria.

"And so Jesus gave us a new norm of greatness. If you want to be important-wonderful. If you want to be recognized-wonderful. If you want to be great-wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That's a new definition of greatness. And this morning, the thing that I like about it: by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve."

A beautiful gospel centred service. While we are all sad for the loss of this great man, we are also encouraged and spurred on by his life. Seeing his family it was obvious that they all felt loved by him, and that he loved and led them well. May God be Kathy’s comfort and help, may she continue to press on to all God has in store for her till the day she is called home. May each of their sons continue to grow and bless those around them, carrying the flame of the gospel as their father did.
I have been so blessed by Tim Keller’s ministry, and I hope to one day tell him so.
Thank you Tim for planning this service, what an encouragement and a beautiful parting gift to your city and to the world you leave behind, a faithful powerful proclamation of the gospel.

Tim use to refer to Elizabeth Eliott's writings, talks a lot more. I particularly remember him relaying her observations on sheep being put through a process where they were driven up a ramp and then into a trough through which they had to swim some distant with their nose just above the water line. It was sheep dip to keep the bugs out of their wool coats. And she talked about how you can't explain to the sheep what the heck this is for. How much smarter is the Creator of the universe and us, than we are to sheep. So I learn that when this dumb (compaired to God), sheep (me) is swimming with the nose just above the waterline, my Shepherd has a very good reason though I may not get what it is.
