12:04 - Regrettably, I stated this as a matter of fact despite not seeing any hard evidence that this was the intent. I've come to see this element of the movie to be more ambiguous. I think it can go either way as to whether Godzilla is real in Ichiro's universe or just a fictional monster like in our universe. Additionally, the reasoning I used based around the toy doesn’t carry much weight, I realized that when I got to the next movie lol. So, though I think Godzilla being fictional in this movie's universe works better, I can't say for certain that was the intent here.

Monster March is hardcore, passionate and altogether rad. Ideal for facing the bull of life with your chin up defiantly.
All Monsters Attack is definitely one of the godzilla movies of all time
WORST.
Yeah sure was, it was one of them
@@N.G.S._01and it’s crazy to believe that this movie was Ishiro Honda’s FAVORITE movie he made!
@@N.G.S._01bluddy didnt even watch the movie💀💀💀
Out of all of the Godzilla movies, this is certainly one of them.
This movie is essentially the Japanese 1960s equivalent to Home Alone with big monster fights added in. If you look at it that way, it's way more entertaining.
I'd love to see Macaulay in a Godzilla film tbh now that he's finally got his life in order again.
I met Karl Craig randomly at a bar a few years back, he said he really enjoyed being in the movie as a kid despite it's reputation because the atmosphere on set was really like upbeat and fun. and as a side note he grew up to be a fighter pilot and has some of the coolest South American drug war stories I've ever heard.
I honestly love this open approach to All Monsters Attack. Instead of going on the attack and trashing this film, your video is an in-depth criticism and appreciation of this film, accounting for the limited resources for this film, the history behind it, and the social commentary.
yeah i was thinking that too. explain the film as he did kind of make me appreciate the film more then when i actually saw the american version
I personally admire this film. I personally enjoy how it stays grounded and doesn't have Godzilla actually exist or the world becoming better at the end. While there are certainly faults, I like this film.
Honestly the idea that, while ordinary people overcoming their situation doesn’t help on a global scale, but still makes the world a better place, is something that I love about this film.
As corny and bad as it is, I actually find it much more enjoyable to watch than some of the more bland Godzilla movies that relied too heavily on character driven b-plots. This is just a bizarre fever dream that you almost can't believe.
As a child (not a teen, but as a child) this was my favorite movie, and not for a good reason. I was constantly bullied at school, not just picked on, but beat up. My mental/emotional escape route was all things nerdy. So not only this movie an escape, I could really relate to that little kid. As an adult, a few years ago, I watched this, and... yeah. It's pretty stupid. I only ever saw the English version.
I felt and dealt with the same things too.
You ok, man?
@@kevencrothers2916 :'( Me too.
Relatable. This was also my first Godzilla movie.
How can I not get beat up? Oh yeah ill be even more of a nerd.
Even the dorks I knew in middle school figured out how to join track by high school. I thought nerds were supposed to be smart
Oh hell yeah, new Godzilla history video. Honestly, there's a part of me that likes this movie, or at least understands and appreciates the concept behind it. It was certainly executed poorly, but there's a decent premise hidden within. I think with a larger budget and maybe some more time given to the writing it could have been a really interesting entry into the Godzilla canon, unfortunately that wasn't the case though and I am pretty comfortable calling it the weakest of the showa series, it's probably the only movie in the franchise I actually skip if I marathon them.
and that singing in the intro of the film doesn't do the movie any favors either.
I'm not one for nostalgia but this movie, with it's American dub changed me as a kid where before I saw the movie I was discouraged to day dream, to spend my time drawing fancies and making creative crafts....This movie is by far one of my favorite Godzilla movies and thought me it was ok to find whimsy, create and encouraged my life long career at the art of make believe.
Watching it as an adult I was frustrated by the monster parts and reused footage, but honestly, it has one of the most competent stories out of the entirety of the Showa era. I definitely think it’s underrated. When I marathoned all the Godzilla films, this was a standout with how different it was.
Y'know, if this was a 24-minute TV pilot for a kid's show and the kids really being on Monster Island (maybe with their parents being involved at a kaiju research center) I don't think people would have minded as much.
Isn't that just the 90s Japanese tv show?
@@dubuyajay9964 With Minilla as the main star, more or less.
I recently watched Godzilla vs hedorah, and it´s my favorite Showa era movie!, the music, dark tone and psychedelic stuff are amazing.
This man has guts to actually give a proper review of All Monsters Attack and actually critique it properly. And I’m very thankful for that.
When I was a kid growing up in the 70s I would see this movie on local TV...
I always enjoyed watching it. I still enjoy watching it. The dub never bothered me because in 1976 it was the only way to watch it and it was a Godzilla movie so I was watching it.
I couldn't always see everyone of those films because they weren't always on TV. I didn't mind "Godzilla's greatest hits" of stock footage... These days with every format everywhere we can see all the errors and mistakes...
This movie is still 100xs better than Megalon...
Bill I've enjoyed all the videos you have done and I dug this one too...
Sometimes I think those who trash this film are Gabara and those who defend it are Ichiro... thank you for not doing that...
26:45 this video definitely has the best editing. I'm absolutely loving these. Keep making more, and I hope you hit 30k, Big Action Bill! We love you!
Agreed, the editing had me rolling
I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time. Lord knows what on Earth possessed Honda to create it. Awesome and incredibly informative video as always man.
Honda probs got high as hell
I think Honda saw this as his last chance to attempt an Ozu-style family drama. Ozu-San was a hero to Honda and he was known to speak enthusiastically about his films. I imagine Honda would believe it’s not his fault we don’t want to see the film he chose to make.
THIS IS IT! This is the movie! This movie permanently imprinted onto my brain as a kid. It has popped up in my memory frequently over the years, but I never knew what movie it was that was. Ugh. This takes me back.
I watch your Godzilla reviews on Loop I’ve seen everyone like five times they are my favorite videos on RUclips probably I love your content and hope you make more like this you’re doing amazing
I know I'm late to this video, but your channel is awesome. Growing up in NY as a kid while also being a NY Jets fan/Godzilla fan, this channel has been great entertainment for a number of reasons. Even the "watching a Godzilla film while sick" was something I could relate to (although mine was Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster).
It's nice to know I wasn't the only fan of Godzilla growing up in the 90's. 😂
Good to see you Bill! We appreciate all the work you do, thank you! 😁
I was 8 when this was out and I liked it and most of the Godzilla movies were bad voice sequenced. With 21 video's at hand I love them all .Great channel
It might be a bad movie, but my little heart tells me to love the concept, and specially the scene where Ichiko uses the fire extinguisher on the robber, it fills me with joy for some unexplainable reason
What a great Father's Day Present. Happy Father's Day Yall.
Happy Father's Day!
This was one of my 3 kaiju tapes as a kid. I get why people don't like it but I have a soft spot for it.
Great deep dive as always man and lol at 7:00 to 7:12 too true! Despite it being pretty mediocre I remember enjoying this one and watching it many times as a kid. Mainly because it was very short and many of the stock footage kaiju scenes were new to me since I didn't find those entries on vhs yet at the time. Keep up the great work!
This was my favorite Godzilla movie as a kid. Will never trash it
Looking very much forward to your next installment.
Godzilla vs Hedorah (or Godzilla vs The Smog Monster) was the first Godzilla film that I ever saw at a theater.
I was 7 or 8 at the time and the film's ghastly imagery made for a pretty memorable filmgoing experience.
Dude perfect timing! Been excited about this one!!
FANTASTIC video, as always!
Thank u for continuing the saga Bill. Love your videos
Awesome History of Godzilla All Monsters Attack! Been waiting for this!
Thank u my man I’ll always support your content
Always good to see another vid from you!
Very interesting video. Much more interesting than the film it's covering. Sad how Eiji Tsuburaya passed just as he was planning a big new project with Ishiro Honda. It would've been nice to see that project. Thanks for the video Bill!
love your uploads man🔥 will definetly be looking forward to watching this fully tonight
Great watch man. Godzilla production lore is an absolute rabbit hole and you do such a great job retelling those stories!
Awwww yeah, been waiting for more of your videos. You have the best videos about the history of godzilla. Keep up the great work!
Really love your videos! Keep it up!
Watching this movie took multiple years off my life, but this review was a real treat. Keep up the good work.
Well this is freaky. Just last night, I wanted to watch something about Godzilla's Revenge, checked your videos, and saw you hadn't gotten to it yet. Then this morning, bang, this is at the top of my YT feed. You've got some fantastic timing, Bill.
This is on of my favorite guilty pleasure movies, I know that it’s bad but I watched it so many times as a kid that I could sit through this film with no problem.
I love all of them, regardless of criticism. Your fine presentation and deep dives into their inner workings are fabulous, a much more innocent and carefree time. Thank you
HELL YEA!! U JUST BLESSED MY SUNDAY 🙌🏾❤️
Really well researched video that is very fair to this scorned movie.
After your explanation of this movie it sounds really not that bad, but I think why it is hated is because it is a "Godzilla" movie, which carries a certain weight of expectation to it. The film probably would have been a lot better if it had it's own lead monster, with maybe Godzilla cameoing briefly, but if it did that then we wouldn't be talking about it 50 years later.
another masterpiece godzilla documentary video, great job
ayyy your back! missed u bro
Been waiting for this one😃😃😃😃
Glad to see another video❤️
I enjoy your video so much i’m a huge fan of Godzilla and you put a lot of effort into them you’re a true fan of the series I can’t wait for your next video so excited
Let’s face it, this film is a total trip! It’s a great children’s film, and when I first saw it when I was around eight years old, I could easily relate. The bizarre Japanese cinematic sensibilities distinguishes as it worlds apart from any American production. It’s an honest glimpse into the world of a child’s imagination, sincere and genuine. This is one of the few Godzilla films that I actually empathized with the lead human character.
I loved this film especially having grown up in Japan around that time. I still watch it when I’m feeling nostalgic.
How you end up in Japan?
@@dubuyajay9964 family stationed in Saitama army base (now closed). I have returned to japan after following my parents military foot steps. I flew and saw the world in 27yrs of aviation military service, now I fly for an airline out of Japan. It’s simple have a life plan, also understand the culture you are in. Many people travel to places and are enamored, they Later live in and to be dismayed (mostly the internet generation). Japan is more than anime and maid cafés, Pop culture is not culture. Come here and experience the existence, For me I love it it’s paradise every day. It is not the same for everyone.
Great work!
Great video Bill!
I also saw this home sick as a child...and honestly I still like it alot!!! Another great job Big Action Bill!!!
Another great video. I watching last year for the first time ever, as I watched them all one after the other, silly movie but really liked the message and a glimpse at the Japan of that era.
60 years now & it's still my favorite (A dubbed) G movie....
Yes, I'm still 8 years old...
Though I'd rather be a bit taller....
This one’s in my girlfriend’s top 3 favorite Godzilla movies- mainly because she loves minilla. I actually really like Gabara and really wish he was adapted into later films
At least Gabara does reappear in Godziban.
This was my first Godzilla movie in the 70s so it has a special place for that.
Keep up the good work. I appreciate the tiny cuts you do with funny quips makes me laugh very profesional. Come to think of it I think besides mechagodzilla this was my second movie in the showa Era of godzilla I didn't know the others so the fights were cool as a kid.
Watching the video and I realized, I literally got that same exact book a few weeks ago! Awesome video! In no rush to watch this movie but great insight. Keep up the great work!
you sold it?
And WHAT IS THIS AWESOME BOOK? I'd like to know!
i love your videos !!!!!
Another cool classic I always enjoy!
These videos are great. Like a more in-depth monster madness. A real nostalgia trip.
Welcome back!
Great video. The information on the yellow hats and traffic accidents made dialogue in the Gamera movies make sense now! Particularly in Gamera vs. Guiron and Gamera The Brave. In the first, the traffic accidents were referenced in the boys monologue at the beginning and end. In the second that’s how the boy’s mother died.
Ive seen this more than other Godzilla movies because it was part of every Godzilla marathon they would do on the local independent tv station from 79-83!
Great writing, Bill!
YESSSSS THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED AFTER A LONG WEEKEND AT WORK WOO WOO
This has always been one of my faves. I remember coming home from school to watch Godzilla movies on a local channel during their "Monster Week" in the 1970s.
The vehicle sounds bit and the school bus was spot on lol
The ending with the mother was a bit depressing. On my first viewing I was too focused on what the heck I just watched. Thanks to your video, the plot makes much more sense, and the ending hit hard for me.
This is a great video
Wow you def helped me see this movie through a new lens. Details right down to the yellow cap.
I love this Godzilla movie, I saw it when I was about 6 or 7 and it was great. It still has a special place in my heart. “ this car for sale very cheep very good” that line sums up this movie.
Using the scene of Tony during his fever dream while you spoke about being sick as a kid was a perfect addition because of how much I can relate. Love the work my man.
Yay!!! A brand new Godzilla history video on my birthday!!!
Have a wonderful Birthday!
@@BigActionBill thanks!!
I don't care. This was the first godzilla film I ever saw and it still has an impact on me. Love it
You are still the Best Godzilla reviewer~
I’ve been going back through some of your older videos and you really have a great sense of comedic timing in a lot of them. I had to go back several times and listen to the part where you are showing the Archie Bunker clip with my eyes closed because I couldn’t stop laughing every time I would see it and I couldn’t hear you.
I really like this movie, though I will admit my liking is because it is so silly. I still find it really charming.
Also I just wanted to say thank you for referencing the manga reviews I have been posting on Toho Kingdom! I personally find writing about Godzilla fandom sometimes feels really solitary, and not many pay much attention to the manga. It just feels nice to have someone reference my reviews, so thank you, and I am really glad that people found those useful or interesting!
This video couldn’t be more accurate and I love it lol
awesome!
Thanks for video. The George C.Scott insert was perfet😂😂
I love these videos 🥰🥰
It’s good to see a new Godzilla history on probably on the worst Godzilla in the Showa era, but I will give respect to filmmakers and Ishiro Hando because they have to work on a very small budget and cut corners for this film and I found it very interesting that Ishiro Hando wanted to have an important message for this film to kids.
Babe wake up big action bill just posted!
I remember as a kid not really minding this movie because I didn't know it used mostly stock footage from other movies and so it felt all original lol. I also didn't know in the Japanese version Minilla is voiced by a female so that sound coming from him looked nightmarish lmao
I weirdly enough have the exact same association of being home from school sick watching this wild ride of a movie. I still have the DVD on my shelf right now but I haven't watched it since. Ill never watch it again but I will never get rid of it.
From Dr Hu (Who) to a (not-so-Celestial) Toymaker...what a career for Amamoto-san
Hurray for stock footage! One day we will have a Gamera / Godzilla team up. One day we will have a Godzilla film with American CGI and Japanese plot and sensibility. Maybe one day the Miami Dolphins will be good again.
During my 2021 Godzilla binge-watching experience, this is one I skipped out on because it wasn’t on HBO Max.
An interesting element this video reminded me of was the Monster Laugh in the Kaiju scene in Crank 2: High Voltage -- I'm actually wondering if Gabera was the inspiration for that
This was one of my favorite godzilla movies growing up. Something comfy about it.
Watching the Japanese version, I sort of can understand that
I saw this as a kid when it was aired too often on my local Saturday Creature Double Feature afternoon show... the best parts are the clips from all the OTHER movies. 😊
this one was my favorite as a kid. i haven't watched it since then, but it gets a lot of points for me just by being as sweet as it is
If David Lynch ever remade a Godzilla film. It'd be this!
My dude you have my sympathy. I can't imagine watching this fever dream of a movie while actually having fever dreams. This movie was a real let down as a kid who just wanted to see new footage of Godzilla fighting different monsters. I had already seen most of the films that this movie used for stock footage.
Inserting Tony soprano saying “let me die” had me rolling lol
My youngest son would watch the VHS copy of this three times a day, every day if I let him. It took about 2-3 years for him to grow out of it.
This might be one of my most watched godzilla movies! Def not my favorite but I had it on vhs taped off TV when a marathon was on so it just happened to be what I had lol
