Natalie is so fun to watch💕! Merry Christmas everyone!🎄❤ Can't wait to see what she comes up with in 2023🎉! You can bet it will be many, many winners🏆!!!
We have a few Christmas traditions. Every year that we set up the Christmas tree, we listen to Handel's Messiah. It's a tradition that's been passed down for generations. Another one I used to do as a kid was singing Christmas songs around the Christmas tree, then we would get out sleeping bags and sleep under the Christmas tree. It might sound silly, but this was my childhood... 😆🥰 I hope you all have a GREAT Christmas filled with nostalgia and joy!
4:35 Oh my gosh! We also had a hill on the way to my grandmother's house! We called it "Fun Hill!" And my dad would also speed up before going over it so it would "get our tummies." 😁 Such fun memories! The best part is that my dad now lives next door to where my grandmother's house is and when we go visit him, my kids also get to experience the "Fun Hill" on the way to their granddad's house ☺️
I love how the cake turned out! Here’s a tradition my family does for Christmas: every year (if we can) we would go to this thing where cars would slowly drive trough and look at all the decorated houses! Last year my dad had got a convertible, and we went to the Christmas lights with the hood down, it was drizzling this year when we went so we were soaked 🙃 it was still fun!
Ah yes the pickle ornament! The Christmas pickle is definitely my favorite Christmas tradition. My family has all the kids look for the pickle on the tree, and whoever finds it first gets to open the first Christmas present. Merry Christmas!!
Oh that is a cool cake! I'm from Germany and I just recently learnt about this american Christmas tradition. I know there are a lot of legends about the "Krampus" but actually it's only known in the southern German spoken region. I myself am from the middle of Germany and grew up with "Knecht Ruprecht" instead of Krampus. But I've never heart of the "elf on a shelve" since this year. And I'm 42 years old by now. 🙂
"I just recently learnt about this american Christmas tradition." That's probably because the book that popularized the tradition was published in 2005 :p
@@krankarvolund7771 True, but my grandma owned that "elf on her shelf" for decades before she died in 05. It must have been sold in the 1940's or 1950's. I own it now and it's at least 80 years old. It was someone's family tradition with that "elf knee hugging thing" that was sold LONG ago. The USA and our traditions can't be very old, our nation is not very old, 1 in 7 is first generation. Our family is only 3rd. And before someone says it belonged to the Natives, even the natives were not here that long before they lost "part" of the land (and agreed to reservations rather than become fully American), Europe has had far more land changes the past 200 years and no one cares. In fact, when communists took over my Grandpa's home country and they tried to force people to die for a side they didn't believe in, he fled to the US, that's what people do. History is multifaceted, but pretty black and white when it comes to how normal land changes and traditions are. Traditions are just things pasted down by generations.
When it comes to generations, 2005 was a LONG time ago, us kids are now having kids. A 10 year old in 2005 is 28! I have a 7 year old. While I have "the real" Elf on the Shelf, he stays put like he always did, thank goodness, look up Studio C Elf on the Shelf. I would duct tape that sucker down if needed. 🤣
@@SRose-vp6ew "And before someone says it belonged to the Natives, even the natives were not here that long before they lost "part" of the land (and agreed to reservations rather than become fully American)" I wouldn't describe several thousands of years of history as "not that long" XD Sure they didn't remained one cohesive culture all the way through, but saying they weren't here long when they were there since the beginning of their cultures is a little bit a lie ^^ As for the reservations, they couldn't have become fully american (they were not white), and wouldn't want because you usually don't want to adopt the culture of your invader and oppressor. And saying they agreed to the reservations, when most of them were forced to go in these reservations after a war and died on the way in what can be called a genocide, again is a little bit of a lie :p As for Europe's history, it depends, in my country, France, the heart of the land had not really changed hands in 1500 years. It also depends on what you call a change of hand, when the Vikings came and were given the lands of Normandy and became vassals of the king of France... politically it was not a big difference (until they conquered England and took independance XD), and culturally it didn't made a difference either (it's more the viking overlords that became christian and to speak french ^^).
My personal favourite Christmas tradition has to do with tree decorating. I'm a little under 20 and still living at my parents with my three little siblings, and every year we all decorate the tree together. Only thing we do differently is we times-lapse the whole thing, and we've been doing this since I was 5, so we have tons of times-lapse from over the years of the tree being decorated, and we can look back and see everyone growing up! I absolutely love this tradition, and I totally recommend it to everyone!
This cake turned out super realistic and I loved the rest of the video.❤️ The one part where I could tell that it was definitely a cake is the face and the shininess there, but I love it together as a whole. The fabric texture is really nice!
We do the same with our Christmas tree. We add at least one new one each year, often with some significance, usually somewhere we've visted, though sometimes it's just something we thought was pretty. We have ornaments from all over the world, handmade ones from my childhood, and heirlooms passed down. I love how nearly every decoration has meaning and a history.
Speaking of eclectic Christmas trees, my parents would buy each of us a Christmas ornament every year growing up. The year I moved out, my mom brought over a box in early December of every ornament I ever got from her growing up so I'd have some things to decorate my tree. A nice tradition, but now I've got five kids. Too many to buy one ornament for every year! Haha
My favorite thing to do during Christmas is decorating the tree with all the vintage ornaments and the school ornaments and making and decorating cookies with my family
My family had ornaments similar to how you described. My favorite tradition is that each year we invite friends over and use candy and frosting to decorate graham cracker gingerbread houses. We're actually going to do it tomorrow so I'm so excited. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Oooh, I have one that we did 2 days ago! We have this fun get together where me, my family, cousins, aunts, and uncles meet at my muu muu’s house, and we all bring cookies/desserts of any kind (well, except for nuts, cause allergies). There’s always trademark desserts you can count on being there, such as gingerbread, sugar cookies, cake balls (cake pops, minus the stick), fudge, Christmas wreaths (made sorta like rice crispy’s but not), and so on. And sometimes we see family that we don’t usually see, like people from farther away. I just love how everyone has their own specialties, and they always give this nostalgic feel :) PS: she has big hills on the way to her house to, so bonus :D
I love going to the mall at Christmas. It's sad that the malls sit basically empty for 11 months of the year. I remember growing up weekends and evenings the malls were always packed. We also used to decorate our tree with all our random decorations made in school, or that were gifted to us, or that you bought on vacation. It never matched, but it always looked like Christmas. We would go out into the woods and look for the perfect tree, and then bring it home, and we would spend the afternoon drinking hot chocolate, watching a Christmas movie and decorating the tree. Now that I'm grown up and have my own place, we have a fake, pre-lit tree with simple red decorations. But, I will always remember the years spent decorating the tree as a family, and, smell of pine and the glitter and tinsel everywhere.
Every year during Christmas time my family goes to a store and get a new ornament, not like the red and white spheres but ones that are unique, for example this year I got a small wood carved humming bird. When we decorate the Christmas tree we put on all the ornaments we got from years before as well, it’s reallly fun! 🎄
She explained her christmas tree and i was like, thats what ours is like!!! We go christmas light hunting every year on christmas eve and look for all the pretty lights as a family. Her childhood is So relateable to me i love it. One of my favorite family traditions is the baking , we make things for our friends as gifts each year.😄
Thank you for talking about how your tree is kinda messy. That's how my tree is every year and sometimes I hate it because it just looks like somebody took an old "Ornaments" box and threw everything on the tree wherever it fits. I've recently realized how I have so many memories with all the ornaments and I love it so much. Also my favourite ornament is the pickle ornament too.
My favourite tradition isn’t even on Christmas but for Boxing Day we always go to my aunts house for a swim and to hang out with friends and family ( I live in Australia btw) and it’s just so much fun every year
Sideserf cake studio, if you are reading this, I think your amazing at making cakes and my friends agree. Thanks for blowing me away with every cake!!! I remember when you hit 1 million subs! Look at you now! Well done
OMG MY CHRISTMAS TREE IS DECORATED THE SAME!!! Every single ornament me or my brother have made over the years at school, like snowmen from popsicle sticks, or a tiny picture of me inside a macaroni wreath is placed on that tree. I also loved driving to my grandparents house, because they lived five hours away, it was always really really exciting when I got to see them again! Happy holidays!
I think my favorite Christmas activity over the years was watching movies with dear people because the programme was usually better than it was the rest of the year! Day one, my brother and I saw a little documentary of how glass Christmas ornaments were hand-painted in a small workshop, so we "borrowed" all the ice blue glass balls from the tree, plus some wite-out from a drawer, and painted little winter houses on all the glass balls when my mom was not looking. Most of them still exist 30 years later. I would totally advocate for a "Christmas glass ball hyperrealistic cake"!
Every Christmas Eve, after dinner, we drive around town and look at all the lights. There's even a designated Christmas Lane that everyone in town visits every year. Then, when we get home, we have bread pudding for dessert and I open one gift from my mom. Every year since I was little, the gift is new pj's or lounge wear. I'm in my 40s and I still look forward to getting new pj's every Christmas Eve.
I love to people watch too! :D I'm glad you were able to find something to bring that Christmas feeling to you. We also decorate our tree with all kinds of ornaments. Last year, I purchased a butter stick ornament. XD I love crazy ornaments like that. I do like the matchy matchy but nostalgia always wins out. Maybe I'll do two trees one year just so I can see what it feels like to have one of those. We do the Elf on the Shelf so this was awesome to watch. Anyways, Merry Christmas!
While not every ornament is hand made, our Christmas tree is full of things and memories throughout the years. Mr. and Mrs. Nut-claus are always a must at the top (mom made those when I was 6 or 7 years old) as well as my first ornament I ever made - a simple construction paper wreath tied with yarn and shedding glitter. There are also memorial ornaments now following mom and some of our pets passing away.
Your parents Christmas tree is family history. Those that come after you will learn so much about you & your family. I have kept my kid’s handmade ornaments and I put them up every year.
This year we bought three baby Norfolk pine trees (the only ones that grow here well) and put them in pretty pots outside and decorated them with tensile, lights, and ornaments. We will plant them in a little while and continue to decorate them as they grow throughout the years. We each have our own tree and we named them, mines the grinch, because it looks like the tree the grinch stole, my parent names hers Cindy Loohoo, and my sister named hers Max
one of my favorite christmas traditions that i’ve done my whole life is watch a christmas story on christmas eve right before bed! after that we would tell everyone merry christmas, hug everyone, and set out cookies and milk for santa. then my sister and i would go to our rooms, and fall asleep.
One of my favorite Christmas traditions in my family is that every Christmas Eve, we'll always open one present early and the present will always be matching pajamas for the entire family to wear on Christmas Day while opening presents! We'll also watch Christmas movies and drink hot cocoa before setting out cookies and milk for Santa.
Our tree is the exact same way! Old handmade ornaments, some passed down by my grandma, some gifted by friends over the years, it’s a mess but they all seem to work together on our tree every year! I love it so much more than one of those trees that has to be color coordinated and fancy
My family has a memory tree too! My parents had a tradition of picking up a "year ornament" each year. It would have the year printed on it and represent that year of our family. Those go on our tree along with all the handmade and gifted ornaments we've collected over the years. Us children are all grown now, so those handmade ornaments are definitely getting old, but they bring back a lot of memories :)
That's so funny! We only go to the mall at Christmastime for the same reason! 😂 Fantastic video. I love watching ❤️❤️ And you're right, glitter is forever! Haha
Being from snowy minnesota I use to love to go to light displays like neighborhoods or certain houses where you can tune your raido to the sinced music or the public ones. With the public ones, some are walk through, some are drive through, and some you have to pay but I miss them all so much being in the south where they don't have that special snowy sparkle. There was this one neighborhood that was around a lake and had these MASSIVE trees and every house was in competition with another so it was just phenomenal.
Our family's Christmas and Christmas Eve traditions. A bowl full of random types of m&m's to eat throughout the day. Lasagna as Christmas eve dinner. Playing board games. Building gingerbread houses. The kids play Santa tracker. Cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast. Listening to a fireplace while opening presents.
My grandmother always used to make this handmade white chocolate candy for Christmas that I freaking loved. She gave me the recipe and I made some for Christmas this year! I'm going to be so proud when I slap down a bowl of the stuff at dinner lol
I’m from the states, but we moved to New Zealand this year for personal reasons, so Christmas for me is all about connecting with friends and exploring the new country we’re staying in. I’m planning to call some of my friends back home.
My four year old watched this with me and she loved the part where you said your stomachs dropped over the hills because it’s so relatable to her 🤣 Merry Christmas!!! I hope you and husband Dave get to see some family this year.
The tradition that we make Swedish pancakes Christmas morning after opening presents. My mom always makes the best Swedish pancakes and I always look forward to them!😊
Where I live it’s summer in Christmas so in the holiday about a week before Christmas me and my family go away for the holidays at the same place each year and come back on Christmas Eve. And we are at the place as I’m busy typing this😅
Elf on a Shelf is one of the creepiest things ever! That said, you did a great job on this cake! Merry Christmas, and to those celebrating other things, may we ALL have meaningful, joyful celebrations!
My favorite Christmas activity is being done with Christmas before it even shows up because I work in Retail and have been seeing Christmas since before Halloween 🤣🤣🤣 All seriousness though my wife and I love decorating our house with all our nerdy Christmas decorations. Everything from reindeer pillows and angels to Darth Vader with a Santa hat. Our house has it all.
A tradition we have concerns our stockings. It’s a rather new one as we have only done it for a few years now. Our parents *hide* our stockings and we have riddles to lead us to them. It’s lots of fun afterwards but can be rather frustrating during the process lol. Last year, my brother’s stocking was in the air vent that was in the ceiling. It was a very good thing his bottle of sparkling apple juice didn’t break when it fell.
I know lots of families open one gift on Christmas Eve. My families twist on it was “head gifts”. When you were sleeping, Santa would place a gift by your head. This way if you woke up in the middle of the night you could open a gift until it was time for everyone to wake up! My husband and I continue this tradition with each other
OH MY GOSHH we have a pickle ornament too! We always decorate our tree with old and random stuff too. My mom always go to this antique mall every year to buy a new old ornament. My favorite is probably the radish one or the crystal mirror one. But the corn and pickle are awesome too. I love when we decorate our tree crazy, neat trees are nice an all but crazy trees will always remind me of home!
I love the things you put in your Christmas tree. It is kind of the same thing we put on our tree and i dont really hear about other people they does that. My favorite Christmas aktivitet is to oben presents
My favorite tradition is making treats with/for my family. My great-grandmother taught me how to make the chocolate pie. My grandmother taught me how to make almond rocha from scratch (no candy thermometer, just by color). My uncle taught me how to make a salt crusted prime-rib that just melts in your mouth...🤤 Honestly, it's time in the kitchen with all the smells of the holidays with people who I love. 🎄
You know, I always go to the mall too! I rarely buy anything, but I love the atmosphere of Christmas malls. It gets me in the holiday spirit right away.
Man, sideserf cakes are so amazing. The stuff she can make is incredible and her cheerful energy is so refreshing
@Molly Donovan And a merry Christmas to you, friend 🎄🎅

While not every ornament is hand made, our Christmas tree is full of things and memories throughout the years. Mr. and Mrs. Nut-claus are always a must at the top (mom made those when I was 6 or 7 years old) as well as my first ornament I ever made - a simple construction paper wreath tied with yarn and shedding glitter. There are also memorial ornaments now following mom and some of our pets passing away.
Your parents Christmas tree is family history. Those that come after you will learn so much about you & your family. I have kept my kid’s handmade ornaments and I put them up every year.
Merry Christmas Nat, and Hubby Dave. Have an amazing time, and thanks Nat for the awesome cake designs.
i love listening to your stories....as much as the cake-making.
Merry Christmas Natalie and Husband Dave!❤️😊
one of my favorite christmas traditions that i’ve done my whole life is watch a christmas story on christmas eve right before bed! after that we would tell everyone merry christmas, hug everyone, and set out cookies and milk for santa. then my sister and i would go to our rooms, and fall asleep.
I love the diehard reference in the beginning. It IS a Christmas movie.
Merry Christmas Natalie and Husband Dave!
Fantastic video. I love watching ❤️❤️
And you're right, glitter is forever!
Happy Holidays, Natalie, Dave, and family!
I’m from the states, but we moved to New Zealand this year for personal reasons, so Christmas for me is all about connecting with friends and exploring the new country we’re staying in. I’m planning to call some of my friends back home.
My four year old watched this with me and she loved the part where you said your stomachs dropped over the hills because it’s so relatable to her 🤣
Merry Christmas!!! I hope you and husband Dave get to see some family this year.
Love the Brutal Moose shoutout with the ‘plop’ sound. 😊
Great job with the cake. ❤️
Rip to the elf, she touched it 😭
My favorite thing to do at Christmas is get peppermint milkshakes, listen to Christmas music, drive around and look at Christmas lights!
And we are at the place as I’m busy typing this😅
Thank you so much for eating that Elf! Merry Christmas
Elf on a Shelf is one of the creepiest things ever! That said, you did a great job on this cake! Merry Christmas, and to those celebrating other things, may we ALL have meaningful, joyful celebrations!
I know right!
THE BLOP AT 1:37 IS SO FUNNY
My favorite Christmas activity is being done with Christmas before it even shows up because I work in Retail and have been seeing Christmas since before Halloween 🤣🤣🤣
All seriousness though my wife and I love decorating our house with all our nerdy Christmas decorations.
Please do the grinch for December! ✨🎄💚
on Christmas eve after church we drive around and look at Christmas lights! It's my favorite!
0:50 OHIO?? YOU SURVIVED?! THESE AMAZJNG HUMANS FRIM OHIO
I wanted to wish you and Dave a very Merry Christmas 🎅🤶🎄 and Happy New Year
i was watching and realized she took the real ones magic and suffocated her to make a mold
Merry Christmas Natalie! ❤❤❤ you’re the greatest and so sweet and amazing and wonderful ❤
I know lots of families open one gift on Christmas Eve. My families twist on it was “head gifts”. When you were sleeping, Santa would place a gift by your head. This way if you woke up in the middle of the night you could open a gift until it was time for everyone to wake up! My husband and I continue this tradition with each other
Well I have a Christmas activity I go out and take a walk and find santa😂 it’s so beautiful seeing all the Christmas lights everywhere!
I really love your cakes! I've been watching you for a year!

Natalie: The weather is cold and snowy
Me right now: *the weather is cold and wet*
Merry Christmas Natalie 🎉 🎄
She says hope you have a Merry Christmas while she's cutting Elf on the Shelf 😊 😃😄 😁 🤣 love you video
I love your videos so much. Thank you for posting and making these amazing cakes!
unbelievably talented
This is such an amazing cake!!!
In the UK (where I live) it’s very common for people to go to a pantomime at Christmas 🙂
My husband and I have been picking out a new ornament to add to the tree each year, and now that we have kiddos, they get to pick their own too!
My favorite tradition is making treats with/for my family. My great-grandmother taught me how to make the chocolate pie. My grandmother taught me how to make almond rocha from scratch (no candy thermometer, just by color). My uncle taught me how to make a salt crusted prime-rib that just melts in your mouth...🤤
Honestly, it's time in the kitchen with all the smells of the holidays with people who I love. 🎄
2:53 same, ornaments from store-bought to a wooden angel colored with Crayola markers
You should make a cake of the pickle ornament
I love the way it’s just like “flop” at 1:38 I think that was husband Dave but it was really funny
You know, I always go to the mall too! I rarely buy anything, but I love the atmosphere of Christmas malls. It gets me in the holiday spirit right away.
I love the gruesome dismembering of that poor elf with that joyous christmas music in the background
