I really can't fathom the incredible ignorance of some of the comments here which disparage Diana Krall. She is a magnificent musician. Her voice and her mastery of the piano are awesome. The complexity of the chords she nonchalantly keeps utilising with beautiful harmony and phrasing is awesome.

They can't get past her beauty, which is palpable but thankfully not slutty. She's the real deal on Jazz vocal and piano. So is Karrin Allyson, also beautiful.

It's incredible how the same music have absolutely unique energy with each one.
Diana Krall is brilliant, my favorite singer and pianist 😍
And Sarah Vaughn it's indescribable, she is perfection 😍

The arrangement of this number was far and above the good but unimaginative conveying of a train in a hurry as the lyrics implied, as sung by the sultry Sarah Vaughn

Comparisons between these two make little sense. Sarah Vaughn was a great vocalist. Diana Krall is the best jazz pianist of her generation as well as a capable vocalist.

Sarah is a better is a more measured balanced I felt that I’d like to get on that train Diana was going far too fast she was on the Japan bullet one All in all Sarah is a great jazz singer Diana is not as good but a very accomplished pianist.

Cassandra Wilson I feel should have the same level of recognition as Diana but I guess I don't like good music if I'm not into Diana

People did not realize what was in front of them with Cassandra Wilson. Cassandra is from Mississippi, and is exquisitely authentic. I also think she does not show case her talent all the way lol. For real, she does something with her vocal that is so unique. She is one cool lady.
Diana appears to be tickling the ivory quite well. Lol.

Honestly I feel Diana is overrated. Sarah Vaughan's skills are impeccable, great phrasing, voice control, and amazing vocal range. I don't know why Diana has so much popularity?

    • @joesirico
      @joesirico Год назад +3

No denying Sarah Vaughan was amazing and her range and delivery were magnificent, but don't put Diana down, she has a style all her own and it's sultry, engaging and she's powerful in her own right. Oh, don't forget, she can play that piano. Gotta give her lots of credit for being great at both.

@@joesirico Sarah Vaughan began her musical career as a piano accompanist for her local church choir. From her peers of the day, it was said that she was pretty accomplished pianist herself.

Fernando, her piano skills ar remarkable. I do, even now, prefer them to her singing which I am sad has been prioritised in last few years. But the whole thing is fantastic - surely???

  • @totokfr

Bad choice . While A Train is a fun thing to improvise over and rearrange as Diana and her team do, its actually a pretty lousy song . The words are stupid and repetitive and the melody apart from the b5 in the second line is nothing to write home about . There are much better show cases of Sarah's talent . I like DK's version precicely because of its complete disrespect of those lousy words and her fabulous piano playing . Anyway comparing Sarah and Diana is a fools errand . Chalk and cheese .

Sarah's phrasing is so good! Sings like a sax player....or should I say Sax players play it like Sarah sings it! Instrumentalists (Guitar bass player and drummer) in Kralls version stands out. Comparing these two vocalists - no - Sarha is on a level all her own!

Apples and oranges. Diana is a pianist who sings in a distinctive style to fit her voice. She admits she is limited with her voice. Sarah, on the other hand, is a SINGER. Her voice is a full instrument. Love them both.
