It is her own. There are flashes of earlier female singers. Accompanying oneself on the piano is not easy. Well done.

I've enjoyed her so much along with the players she brings with her...just can't say enough good about her. And, yes she is a great, looking, woman, but that is not what makes her music great. She has integrity and character, not just looks.

Krall takes a legendary song and puts her signature to the piece. This is one of the best renditions of A-Train. Dave Brubeck, another jazz great, did a fantastic, out of this world version of A-Train in 1966.

I don't like Diana Krall (stay with me now), 'cause she's so damn accessible. Doesn't take the jazz elite to appreciate her. Seriously, there are very, very few newish, worthy interpretations of "A Train"-- it's all but impossible to sound fresh playing it-- but this one is fun, surprising, very musical and gratifying in a way that I really wasn't expecting. Her vocal hangs daringly away from the expected melody and rhythm in a way that is just right for a tune that is so overly familiar; her solo is audacious, and her comping is just right.
very nice arrangement takes me back to 60's jazzz feeeeeel where i can just close my eyes and listen to jazzz and not want to open my eyes to maintain that picture and scenery that i have vivdly in my mind oh how much i love music soo much
really think this is a stupid idea-Diana does not need Elvis for anything. He has a completely different style and world and it is great that they do not mix it at all.

Of course this version is great, and she plays great jazz piano, but, if you want to hear the A train that Diana is influenced by in this version, give a listen to the great Betty Roche's version of A Train when she was knocking em dead with the 1950 Ellington Orchestra.
