Outer fence at the terminal added around 2020 and the offices also constructed 2020. The smoke likely vapor from the asphalt plant oat end of Perry Road. The truck terminal and behind was a huge siding yard called Horse Shoe Corner. The tank farm closest to river replaced former railway sidings that serviced the wharf. Tank farm with larger tanks similar to the original. Likely much of the area developed during or just after WW2 from the original wharf area.

You need to visit Buncefield Oil Depot in Hemel Hempstead DJE, where they had that big fire one year. The biggest fire in England since the Blitz!
To be fair to em, I would want a place like that well protected, can subscribers remember when the oil depot near to Hemel Hampstead went up? that caused chaos for days.
We live in St Alban's 6 miles away and felt the blast at 6 in the morning. Our bed moved!!!!

Buncefield, I worked for Conoco who loaded out of there. I provided holiday relief cover only months before the incident.
Been flying helicopters commercially for over 40 years and a fair few times in that area. 100% he is talking rubbish.

You guys need to respect that these fuel/oil terminals although not a NFZ they are basically a big no no to fly over with your drones. The H&S of these depots a absolutely critical of anything electris, battery or otherwise. The checks they have to do on entering a flamable zone are megga. If for some reason your baby 249g drone did fall out the sky and land somewhere critical and cause a spark the consequences could be catastrophic. Would your insurance pay for a depot like that if it exploded? Yes or no? I gues its a big fat NO. Any battery ooperated item could cause a spark if the right conditions are met. Just buckle down and respect them - really guys get real and understand the risks involved. The sooner they get together to get NFZ's on all depots the better. Have you seen a fuel/oil tank burn - I have? Its near impossible to put out and they normally have to just wait for the fire to burn down to a manageably strength to put out. Just beware.
