That's a snappy pistol & she did a great job not limp-wristing it. My wife shot my SIG 45 once. Slide locked back, she set it on the table & stepped back. "Nope, I'm done" she said.
Lgwappo. Haha. Great story. My wife actually prefers the .45!!! Go figure. Funny thing is she once shot at chiefs special .38 and set it down just like your wife did. That was 20 years ago. She is back now! As you see… Thanks for comment!
I think it's great she's shooting that .40, good to see she corrected her grip. What's good about that weapon, is that with a change of the recoil spring and barrel, it can be converted to a 9mm.
Irish. True! We did that with the larger brother, the 226. We shot .357Sig, .40 cal, and 9mm. I am considering ordering the parts to do the same with this 229. Thanks for the comment!
She needs an UPLULA. :) I'm old too and use them when I can. If it isn't available I can load (even with arthritis), but why not do easy when you can. She did pretty good on the first mag, glad to see her grip was corrected on the second. The gun had much less "limp wrist" flopping around!!! :)
Two Owls. Wisdom indeed. She wanted to try and load without a loader. On the grip, that was a good spot on your part. I was cringing but watching carefully. She indeed corrected the problem and learned a valuable lesson. Thanks for the comment!

That's a "big" handgun for a woman. The grip of the classic SIGs are pretty big, for man hands. No wonder she hated it. Also, a .40 is a tough round for a beginner, even out of a hefty gun like the 229. With that said, I have man hands and my 229s are my favorites, in all the calibers. The 357 is *chef's kiss* PERFECT!
Andrew. Too right. The grip and the caliber of our 229 as a sub-compact or the 226 was too much. She was a trooper for working through it. Now she happily shoots my P365 X Macro and handles it pretty well. Thanks for the comment and good observations.
@@SIGnationshootersandfeatures oooooh, the 365! Having giant man hands, I've never been a fan of small guns. I tried a Glock 26 years ago when I still had a G17, and it worked ok but it bothered me that I couldn't group that well with the 26 and I didn't have it long. When I tried the P365, that was the first small gun I could shoot as well as a full size. I don't know what sorcery is behind it, but they shoot great for me.
@@SIGnationshootersandfeatures with that said, the large grip size of a standard 226/229/228/220 fit my mits in a way that's just perfect. I got my first one a few years before they started the E2 grip nonsense and I've never changed my grips out. The old school standard is perfect. I even went and bought a 1994 P229 with triple serial matching slide/frame/barrel from German origin in 357. Of the 9mm, 40, and 357, the 357 for me is a favorite. Closely followed by my .40, especially when I shoot my own reloaded 165s. I load them on the hot side and at max OAL and it's a tack driver if you can manage recoil.
Andrew. Sorcery indeed with that P365. I am still trying to figure out a flaw with it! And the grip is almost as smooth as my P210 carry!!! But I have 18 rounds on my person with the P365 in one mag!!! Crazy good
I count 20 rounds on paper! Just a couple high & a couple low. Really well done for a new shooter. Let that recoil happen (don't anticipate), and keep pressssssssing that trigger smoothly. You'll have 'em all in the center shortly!
" like this... no, not tlike that, the other way.... oh you were already doing it correctly? ok my bad i was looking through the camera " omg, just book her a regular training course with a competent professional.
Dropping a mag on the ground like that will damage it . I would suggest putting your palm under the gun and letting it hit your palm . The magazine is 50.00 dollars a piece.
Thank you for the comment Jeremy! While I agree dropping an empty mag on concrete is not ideal and those mags aren’t cheap, there are life and death issues at hand for catching an empty mag. There is an adage that states one will fight as they train so they must train as they fight. If I train catching an empty mag, what am I going to do with it in a fire fight? Better to train a new shooter to let that empty mag fall. Why would I tie up my off hand with an empty mag when I need to retrieve a full mag for a reload? Just some things to consider….
Magazines are consumable items, so dropping them isn't a big deal. They're made out of steel and you'd have to do a lot more than drop it on concrete to do any real damage.
@InSIGNation you can get really, and I mean really affordable magazines for classic SIG pistols from the source, which is Italian company Mec-Gar. They are SIG's factory source, they just haven't gone through a middleman (SIG Sauer). They're every bit as good, you're not being shortchanged at all. In fact, I'd argue the Mec-Gar magazines are superior because they aren't parkerized like they did/do for SIG contracts. They have the anti-friction coating and it's cheap to upgrade to a +2 mag. You may have already known, but if not, their mags are cheaper in cost yet perform 100% and are to full spec.
Andrew. As my handgun collection grows, I am always looking for more affordable options. Good to know that Mec Gar is. I have some mags from Italy for my P210 Carry. I agree they seem very well made. Thanks for informative comment!
She did GOOD in my opinion. Especially since she's learning with a compact .40!! I MYSELF, would NOT have a new shooter workin' with a 40. I mean. did she REQUEST that caliber? Did she START shooting with smaller cal's, and decided to step UP to a .40? Sheesh!! I know some LEO's & some Veterans that won't EDC, or "home defend" with that caliber. I'll admit, .40 is a great round, in very "experienced" hands. BTW, that two-tone she rockin' wit, is gorgeous👌🏽
RRydin High. Yes. She pretty much blew through the .22s and 9mms. She wanted to go big so we went to the .40 and .45. She actually settled with the P226 in the 9mm as her own. Thanks for comment!
@@SIGnationshootersandfeatures she made an excellent choice, going the 226/9mm route. That is my personal favorite combo. Thank you for the update reply!! 👍🏾
Probably not the best place for her to put her support hand thumb while shooting a semi-auto pistol. I saw later in the video she corrects that hold, good! You can tell she's starting to get tired towards the end.
Then get yourself a true sig a west Germany proffed 228 or 226 nother out there best then quality USA sigs not the same beleave me it's true sigs or allsome just true sigs or Germany not USA
Ricky. Since I have owned/shot SIGS since the 1980’s when they where exclusively from Germany and now own/shoot SIGS made in the USA, I will agree with you the original German made pistols are better. Sadly, we don’t get SIGS from Germany anymore. However, even the USA made pistols are still great pistols. Thanks for comment and perspective. Tschuss!
This is the type of gun video that saves lives , safe ,sensible real training no drama. Kudos to you and the lady.

Yes. Good eye. That was from the former revolver days gone by. We set it it straight by the end of that shoot.
Second mag was much better positioning, thank you. By the way, nice step by step instruction.
Appreciate the comment. Thanks
Got to get a Mag-LULA UP-Loader. Save those thumbs from the pain of loading those last few rounds in any magazine.
Whomagoose. Mama SIG is pretty hardcore and wants to learn old school loading. She actually pulls it off quite well! Thanks for comment!
I learned something new today 😊
There's nothing better than hearing that! Thanks for comment. Would you be willing to share what your learned?

She ever get bitten by the slide throwing her left thumb over like that? That support hand should be higher on the gun.
Nah. We caught that bad “revolver” grip early and corrected it. She got it right by end of video. Good spot!
