Thank you for this informative video. This cab kit looks nice. I have one in my Stewart MacDonald cart eight now, along with a 12" CANNABIS REX speaker to put in it! 😁

Does it retain a lot of low end since it's mahogany? My son who is a worship guitarist is looking for a 1x12 cab for when he helps at other church's. He uses a Bad Cat Cub 40R and runs his his sound warm but still has some crunch for his overdrive.

Not bad but the real star of the show is that cool pedal- Ocean's Eleven, Big Sky or something like that?
    I have a few thoughts...
Wear gloves so you don't get the inside messy.
    Tape off around glued joints.
That size and quality speaker needs more AIR. Leave back open.
Immediately replace that horrid baffle. Think 3/8" baltic birch.
Use 12 guage speaker wire, copper, oxygen free and solder to speaker. Yes, solder can be undone if you need to change the speaker. It's simply a better connection in every way.
    Good job countersinking the screws.
Show how you installed the baffle next time. Wing nuts? Makes for easy removal.
Tone was not great. Get a real tube head- not this orange think. I am a tone snob and to me, the crunch tones sounded bad. The cleaner tones were better- as would be expected.
Folks, please do NOT FALL FOR the whole tonewood thing. It is over rated. It is the SPEAKER and the HEAD and the amount of AIR and/or porting that effects the frequency curves. This speaker is pretty well built but it is FAR TO SMALL for that size speaker. The head is a joke as well, hence you hear the same tnoes I hear which is...not great. Looks pretty though. For very low volume, clean playing, it's fine.
IMHO, $250 is high for a DIY kit like this. If it was $99 it would be compelling. For $50 a pro can build you a real cabinet. On this one, the baffle (most important component) is WAY TOO THICK. What is it made of, toxic, MDF particle board? At least he did a good job assembling it.

    Nice job.👍
I would put two ports on the lower front baffle board to allow Bass Frequencies and air out of that small closed back cab. It also will allow the speaker to move better.

Sounds like it needs some poly fill is all

My StewMac lit was terrible. The MDF bezel was a millimeter too thick to fit in the slot, as well a millimeter too wide. My kit had a three piece left side and a two piece right side that looked horribly mismatched. I must’ve gotten a crappy kit.
