RIP Tina Turner, a true legend.
Tina, The Action Kids, Bandstand Regular Famous Hooks and some local kids dance to one of Ike and Tina’s lesser known, but upbeat songs.
They are dancing at the 60’s teen dance club It’s Boss, formerly Ciro’s (later Ciro’s Le Disc) and currently The Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Many music acts played at It’s Boss before they made it big such as The Byrds, The Bobby Fuller 4, Sonny & Cher, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix, who was a member of Ike and Tina’s band at this time. If you were a teen (over 15) in LA in the mid 60’s and had $2.50 you could swing on in.
Thank you to @jthyme, Gary for helping to provide the clip and thank you for watching!
I’m still very invested in this channel, but due to a paucity of material (as Don would say, 😃 ) I won’t be posting as often, but I hope to find and post lots of “new” material soon. Thank you for sticking around!
Another piece of my childhood dies. RIP Tina and thank you for the music of my generation.
The Acid Queen!!! The undisputed Queen of Rock & Roll!!! She is more than a legend, she is an ICON for the ages & then some!!! I don't feel sad because she has LIVED & gave it & us her all. Rest well my Queen, you were the best to ever do it!!! Thanks for this clip Aaron, hope all has been well buddy! And to Gary as well!
The Black Guy dancing with the little mustache is John "Famous" Hooks who was the first popular Black Dancer on American Bandstand. He also moonlighted on Shebang another dance show that Casey Kasem hosted that Dick Clark had a partial interest in on KTLA.
R.I.P. Tina Turner. Thank you for the music and the memories.
Aron stated "I won’t be posting as often, but I hope to find and post lots of “new” material soon. Thank you for sticking around!" Trust me, folks.....we are trying HARD to get some new material. We are so close, we can taste it and when we do get the goods, Aron will share clips that will blow you away. I know it's been said for over a year now but some things have gotten in the way and I truly think that by the end of the year the viewers here will be more than happy with the outcome. It will be worth the wait. KEEP THE FAITH!
Good to hear. As for myself I will definitely be sticking around don’t worry about that. I regularly revisit these videos and appreciate all those who have a part in bringing them to us.
@@bradsense7431 Much appreciated!
Are the Bandstand archives still held privately by Dick Clark Productions? Will they ever be available for release to the public so we can watch them?
I saw Tina Turner in concert around 1986 or ‘87. And despite not having Famous Hooks dancing like he is here, she was still great and it was a memorable show. 😊 I am going to watch again and see if I can spot any more AB dancers. Aron as your channel grows I am hopeful it will be noticed by someone who may be sitting on lost AB episodes and graciously share with you for the greater good/enjoyment. Let’s put an end to paucity. - I had to look that word up.
RIP Tina. My childhood heroes are leaving me slowly..
Thank you for posting. I was lucky enough to see her in concert a number of times - she was THE BEST! I thought I spotted a couple of the Bandstand regulars dancing, not sure. Much more "casual" attire.
I noticed that too. AB had a dress code and this show did not.
This clip proves how Tina was even better looking as she aged gracefully. I was just listening to Sirius yesterday, and one of the original MTV VJs mentioned how Tina, Aretha, Patti LaBelle were powerhouses who found more success in the 80s. It really is true. Tina had a whole new life and audience in the 80s. So talented, classy, and an ageless beauty. RIP
Side note, I spotted Famous and his smile right away in this clip. 😊
Tina you’re royalty to St Louis Mo fans. There’s even a star for you on the St Louis Hollywood Walk of Fame down on the Delmar Loop. RIP Tina 🙏🌹
Totally BOSS homage to Tina. Awesome! Thanks Aaron and Gary.
Thanks Don! Did you ever dance at Ciro’s/It’s Boss?
@@YCDTI Yep, sure did. A few years after It's Boss closed, Ciro's/It's Boss became Art Laboe's oldies night club. Danced there too. Really great times.
You're welcome, Sir Don! Hope to meet up with you in a couple of weeks!
RIP dear Lady
Several Bandstand regulars (along with the "Action Kids") dancing around Tina here.
RIP Tina Turner 😢 I will always love you and your music. ❤
WOW!! Cystal clear!!
RIP Tina Turner. BTW, I remember Topper Toys!
I remember seeing her perform on Where the Action Is. Oh those dancing near her were so lucky. Tina, it was evident that you had it back then. You will be missed.
A true legend lives forever ❤️ how are you and your family?
ThanksMuch!
My guy doing that split. I pulled my groin just by watching him do that! 👍🤣
Awesome!Thanks dear Aaron
"Simply the BEST, REST IN HEAVENLY PEACE Anna Mae Bullock"🙏🏽✝️❤️💐🕊️🎥🎶
Awesome clip! Thank you for this!
I didn't get a notification on this- Fortunately, I went to your page as I am a subscriber.. thanks for this
Maravilhosa!!❤
❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏼👏👍
Here is another fun fact. Johnny O'Keefe (RIP) asked for the Australian Rights to "Action" and he got it. He also did a Talent Contest that Olivia Newton-John won at 16 in 1964. Olivia (RIP) was also instrumental in helping Tina Turner Come back.
I know there is a lead-in commercial with Dick Clark’s voice, but this does not look like a clip from Where The Action Is. None of the show’s dancers in the setup and 99.9% of the songs were done outdoors, nothing such as this indoors clip.
I didn't think Ike was there.
Just think she left Ike with everything in the divorce just took her name and 2 cars she couldn’t grow with him so grew with out him just think what she made for 1 night concert Ike couldn’t make the whole 45yrs they been divorced
A wonderful tribute to Tina Turner!
Wow! Another clip straight from videotape. What a great addition and tribute!
Pretty sure these shows were never originally on video tape. I purchased many shows from an estate sale 30 years ago and they were all network 16 mm film with commercials. There are some bootleg video tapes if you know the right people, but the videos are made from the 16mm films.
Tina you were a class act ,great stage presence, great voice, and pretty and i'm sure your home. Thanks indeed Aaron and Gary...
Rest well Tina Turner. Thank you for the music. 😭
Awesome.
I thought she was singing the theme song and was waiting for her original song to start, lol!
Thank you for posting this FUN video, Aron! Glad to help out.
❤❤❤ it..A young 25 or 26 year old Tina..👍👍
Wowwwww
Fare thee well Anna Mae Bullock, p/k/a Tina Turner. Thank you for the music.
Nice find here - and from the video tape too.
