Lived on Trafford Rd back in the 70's and visited this graveyard many times. One of my favourite cemeteries. Travelled over the viaduct when Dad had a boat , was very exciting as a kid. Thanks Clarky, brought back great memories.
What a wonderful made video. Fantastic editing. Always made in such a caring and respectful manner ..your videos are outstanding and a pleasure to watch Your videos make my weekend when you put them out. Thanks for making them..just heads above all the other urban exploration channels.
Thanks Clarky.....such a beautiful and peaceful place, I would love to have a wander round it.....I am sure you are not an "obnoxious not right", that gave me the giggles lol, you never fail to give me a laugh...Wow that window is stunning......Great to see you have reached 3K :).....Much love as always from NZ x
Great video. About 20 yrs ago I took a photo of a small stone cherub on the left as you walked up the path into the graveyard next to the footpath. After developing the photo in the darkroom an image of an old ladies face is clearly seen next to the cherub.
Used to go explore that cemetery years ago it was overgrown then but very interesting, I always remember seeing the grave of a ww2 air force man, just stayed with me ( at least I think I remembered that) Eccles
Hi Clarky, what beautiful videos you make, they are world class, I love your videos on the cemetries, you show so much emphathy & respect & I love your commentry. I'm not from Manchester or the great Lancashire, but just from watching your fantastic videos it shows me how nice & hard working the people are & also shows me the great history of Lancashire. Thank you for these great videos mate. Stay safe & I can't wait for the next one. Andy. 👍😊👍
Literally 150yds away on the other side of the canal is a very secret graveyard called Barton upon Irwell Roman Catholic Cemetery. It’s hidden behind a wall, is very small and has the bodies of about 300 souls. It’s unmarked and behind one locked iron gate. You can’t see in and hardly anybody knows it’s there. Worth a look?
I’ve walked and driven around here countless times and never knew this graveyard existed. The ‘secret’ graveyard over the road would make an interesting video as well. Part of it was built over with apartments and houses and occasionally old bones are dug up in people’s gardens from it.
Thank you for the trip to St Catherine's graveyard. Were you thinking of the word Mausoleum? Also the vertical column which you thought was broken off at the top was probably installed like that. It signifies a "life cut short.".
We had a quick look around St Catherine's today and came across your video when we got home .Very informative and interesting video . Cheers for all your hard graft .
Great work Clarkey. The history everywhere. The photos of digging out the canal by hand were awesome. Camera and editing great too. The whole package. In Wallerwang NSW there's an old church built by the Barton family. Their sheep farm was massive and named Barton Park. Gotta be related, their farm was massive.
Thank you for the feedback Red I really appreciate that pal and I'm made up your enjoying my videos. Is it St John the Evangelist you meant if so it actually does have a similar style to St Catherine's. Cheers m8.
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt yes mate, that's it. Australia doesn't have much in the way of grand buildings, and out in the countryside is this stone church. Yes, style is very similar. My wife's ancestors were convicts in the area.
@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt dunno but the old great grandma remembered bushrangers calling in. Ned Kelly type stuff, pinching horses, cattle, sheep anything not nailed down. Pulling the odd gun on someone and emptying their wallet type of thing. The rich had fancy clothes and horses so were easy to spot. The same stuff happened in England as well, highwaymen they were called in England. The back blocks of Australia were remote places, the coppers were days rides away.
@@redtobertshateshandles Yeah I can imagine pal the place is humongous. I love the old takes like that though I have on to tell myself soon about an old highway man.
Stunningly atmospheric particularly the ending, Marshall Stevens & Angel...mmmm. Well researched, what a great pity this beautiful church was allowed to go into such decline. ('Font' Clarky I would guess this is the Baptismal font from the inside of the church, I am amazed some dodgy developer hasn't incorporated this into an over priced house or garden.) Many thanks
Brilliant Video! I literally live around the corner and always wondered about this Graveyard and the history thanks so much, and as previously stated by Jobs Jobbed the other little Graveyard is well worth a visit, I'm sure I read somewhere that there was a group of people trying to clean it up.
Hiya Clarkie, the big stone plaque that cannot be read, that you said was inside the church can be read by doing a charcoal on paper rubbing. Maybe do a bit if research how to do it and make a vlog on it. Just an idea. I'd do it myself, but I'm in Canada. Best wishes mucker. Keep them coming, you are improving bit by bit. Stay safe & healthy. Ken.
