sincerely, a great talk! the history in the beginning is extremely useful dawg so thanks for that
Thanks for sharing this!
The point is you should never alter your HTML, so layouts are interchangeble without altering any markup.
Check out csszengarden for a huge variety of examples on this.
It's about seperating layout from markup.
no harm intended with what I said ;)
I know the video is mostly theory so far (but just because old IEs are still so damn wide spread, why can't ppl update..), but as far as I understood he didn't exactly mean you shouldn't use clearfixes at all. They still have their meaning when it comes to floats.
Should just not use floats for layouts anymore, though it's kinda hard to do due to browser supports...
He says we're not supposed to be using clear fixes anymore. What should we be using instead?
where do they upload this presentation slide? Any one knows? Please comment.
For some reason, the left output for sound don't work.
open stream with vlc and mono.
rant ends at 17:39 =D
I have only the right stereo channel, impossible to hear that show on a headphone
Tim created it. Tim's face moved.
Hey bro, no need to get snarky. There are still a lot of designs and sites out there that rely on floats. The theory in this video is one thing - and then there's the real working world out there.
Would you please add proper captions to all of your vidoes to have it 100% error free, proper punctuation, speaker identifications, sound descirptions, etc? Auto captions are not of acceptable quality. It's important to have good quality captions as it is important to have good quality speech. Thanks!
"Yo dawg, I heard you like grids. So I put grids in your grids so you could grid while you grid". Hahaha. Literally laughed out loud. All my coworkers are staring at me.
You should really watch the video again :/
Clearfixes are for floats, the whole video is about not using floats...
everything is panned to the right... kind of annoying while using headphones.
Great presentation but I just hate to see the ignorance when it comes to IE and their contribution to flex, grid, regions and exclusion. Eric, they are the ones who are driving these. Yes I love to hate IE and I hate to make it work but credit's due when credit's due and it this case they deserve it. Adobe is helping from what I read on the www-style mailing list but saying they are the ones driving the standards is simply ignorant.
excuses
Actually so annoying that I won't watch this...
disliking the css order...build your html in the proper order!
he is talking about hacks?!
css order is in effect a hack.
