They need guys like Angel Pagan. Above average hitters who have great plate discipline and can move guys along and keep rally’s going. Get 3-4 of those guys and they can move mountains
Pretty sure why they signed a rookie like JH Lee for 113 million. He is suppose to be the angel pagan but unfortunately got hurt. But next year looking better as they most likely going to platoon Eldridge between 1B/DH. We just need starting pitching and maybe (but not likley) a juan soto
Hopefully Chapman has a bright future with the Giants. I can't help but think about other Jays/A's 3rd baseman whose careers ended after they left Toronto (Brett Lawrie and Josh Donaldson).
2:45 lol first time I’m seeing broader media outlets mentioning the vitriol from Giants fans. There’s a lot of grumpy old men in CA who just want a winning Giants team again and I don’t blame them, Farhan continues to strike out. Though, I like seeing a guy we like get locked up. I see Oakland Chapman jerseys now I’ll be seeing Giants Chapman orange (name looks great on the orange for some reason. Classic A’s white Champan looks cleanest.) See, we like Matt Chapman, a lot pf us want to be upset but it’s hard to. It’d have been painful if he signed elsewhere after the season. We love seeing him out there and defense fires the crowd up in SF. (He heals our Brandon Crawford wounds 😢)
5:45 The Giants don't try to offer mega deals? They were willing to take on Giancarlo Stanton's deal. They made a big offer for Bryce Harper. They made a massive offer to Aaron Judge. They made a massive $350 million offer to Carlos Correa, and was ACCEPTED (and only got nixed because of injury concerns). They were willing to match the mega deal that Shohei Ohtani signed. Stop being clueless, AJ.
Scroll through the stat leaders on the Giants and Chapman literally leads everything except SB and 3B. Yeah, he’s not the best compared to the league but he’s still the best Farhan can do. It’s actually getting sad. But I’m still optimistic about our younger tenured players and pitching.
Giants need to trade for Vlad and extend him. They'll have Bryce Eldridge in the next couple of years. you can build a middle of the order around Ramos, Vlad & Eldridge.
Ramos is not a guy you build around. We don’t know what he’s going to do yet. Great 1st half, no so much in the 2nd and this is the ONLY time he’s been successful in his long minor league run. I am on your side about getting Vlad. I wanted them to do that at the deadline. But fitz would be the guy to build around vs Ramos. You hope he can stay at that level but Lee is who we build around.
This is a weird one. He's a great defensive 3B, but the guy hasn't had an OPS above .800 since 2020. He's essentially Max Muncy (who's paid $10M-$15M/year), but with less power, a lot fewer walks, and a better glove. And he's 31 years old. I don't see it.
Giants had no choice , solid move & you don’t know how the contract will age so just be happy for giants fans and the city of San Francisco . They’ve struck out on so many players they deserve a win here . Farhan is trying to save his job lol
@@b-rad3681It's actually hilarious to me how much of a repeat this is of the Evan Longoria signing. The Giants don't know how to build a winner to compete in their division.
OPS is down league wide this year and he’s playing in Oracle Park. Not saying there won’t be a decline over this contract, but he’s been an above average hitter this year (121 OPS+ and 118 wRC+) while still providing well above average defense. Contract definitely has merit at this point
Giants have a history of not making good decisions. Chapman's best years are behind him. That money could have been better spent getting a few really good players.
You’ve done 0 research on Matt Chapman and haven’t watched him play. 2018, 2019, 2024. Those are his best 3 years in the last 8. He’s hitting for his career average and this is his 2nd best year avg wise. About to be on par for a 30hr year. He’s still the best defensive 3B in the game. This his rookie year was the only year he didn’t play a full season. He’s better than Schmitt, Luciano, Wisely and any other 3B options in the farm. This is a great keep. Let’s hope they go bring back Snell too. Going and saying “really good players” and saying Chapman isn’t shows your lack of knowledge of the game. You’re not signing anybody else this time of year and out of the viable options in FA next year, Soto is the only other offensive player that would rank higher than Chapman this offseason. It’s a heavy pitching market with a weak position player pool. A 250 hitter that’s a 30 homer guy with the best glove in the game. Pitchers will want to come and when you have arms like we do with more that want to come here, it helps to have good defense. Yes they still need a superstar offensive player. You build off Matt with Fitz, Lee, Eldridge, as a core in the lineup. If you get a repeat from Ramos that is stellar but this first All Star nod was a gift because he isn’t the same guy in the 2nd half. That gives Jerar a chance, Luciano a chance, and even Matos a chance. Schmitt is still fighting for a spot so maybe we can use him as trade bait for a bigger bat. 2B, 1B, & corner OF is up for grabs.
@@HEARD201 yeah as his bat speed slows down as he ages that strike out rate which is already high is going to the moon. Not to mention the fielding decline which is inevitable
This will end up being Farhan's worst move in his entire Giants tenure and that says a LOT. Overpaying a defensive first player (who never ages well) who is avg at best offensively. Just a huge overpay, zero chance he would get this on the open market
So you are basically paying him for maybe two or three years of productivity, and after than he'll be injured and/or less productive. After 35 he'll be Evan Longoria.
Yet another bad contract for the giants. Chapman is not consistent and is getting old. His defense probably will last this contract but no way in hell will even 70% of the bat last
Finally an everyday player jersey I can confidently buy as a Giants fan. We’re stoked to have Chappy long term!
WELL DESERVED!!!!!
Can the Angels do the reverse for Rendon? Subtract $151 million from his salary

Nice long term deal for Chapman. Get comfortable and enjoy the ride. Congrats!
Im an old school fan (70) and i lo e this signing
Good move, will def be a big defensive help and slight offensive too.
Chapman is solid. Win Win for both parties
Hopefully Chapman has a bright future with the Giants. I can't help but think about other Jays/A's 3rd baseman whose careers ended after they left Toronto (Brett Lawrie and Josh Donaldson).
Remember Chapman played injured for half the season in Toronto

A Boras client…not testing free agency?
Altuve as well but this is a great deal for Chapman. He couldn't refuse it

Montgomery Fired Boras then he signed.

Ewwww $151 for Chapman. Giants must have so much money to throw away in the dumpster. Eww.

@@cwpo1973 Farhan assembles the roster it’s honestly him ! The giants ownership team have offered so much money to players just to get turned down

Most of the fans are so done with Farhan and his ineptness has ruined this storied franchise
He's a good third baseman but he's not $151 million dollars good.
Soto ain't going to SF, and they shouldn't waste any time / effort trying
... but I dig Chapman - he's a winner. Maybe a little pricey, but he's a piece they needed.
They paying a lot of these players too much
You don’t say

In SF milk stays colder… because it’s cold there… so… yeah! Basically it doesn’t matter, they can afford it.
Two years too long

George Springer vibes
Giants will never win their Division over the Dodgers, D-Backs or Padres during his extension.
lol, he not worth it, you will regret it.
Irrelevant team irrelevant player
Fr whole team full of bums
Pretty much the same deal George Springer got and I imagine it ending in a similar way
