@@ryanolson2308 It's two reasons. Reason #1 is he's pandering to players because we watch this to hear from former players. We TOLERATE Scott. #2 is he's a left-wing political activist so he's on that "I'm for the workers" crap.
A. He opted out B. Yanks declined to void opt out with 5/180 C. Both parties agreed to 4/144 aka the original deal had Cole NOT opted out. D. Yanks worked Boras
Cole has no a single shred of loyalty to anybody except money. He shiwed that in Houston when they won he qouldnt even wear am Astros hat and wore a Boras hat. The reason he opted back in is that no one is going to give this guy a 36M+ 5 year deal at his age. That us why he ran back to his option.
Damn near all of them do. Look at Soto from the fan's perspective nobody cares if he makes 30 or 40 million a year. it's way beyond are understanding. So, when Soto says he is gonna go where they pay him the most. It really sounds selfish and greedy. the other 10 some million won't make him play any better anyway. He's in a perfect position with the Yankees anyway. He won't find a better spot.
Gerrit Cole should have been let go. Yankees will regret this decision. Cole is a prime Tommy John surgery candidate which may come next year. Cole is declining pretty fast. His arm is dying. Trading for Dylan Cease would have been a better choice or signing Garret Crochet/Corbin Burnes.
Hopefully the Yankees restructure a complete deal. Maybe add 1 or maybe even 2 years to the deal but defer the money for a decade so the lux tax goes down much like Ohtanhi. Maybe ask Judge to do the same. Add money but defer it til later. Allow the Yankees to sign Soto and others because clearly it will take more to beat the Dodgers
I don’t think the yanks will give him anything….its just face saving for Cole to say “were talking” and boras got worked yet again. Scotty Boy has a freebie win with Soto….outside of that expect more disappointment
@@ryanolson2308 I mean effectively he's on the same contract. He opted out. Then signed the exact same deal. So it's basically like he didn't opt out at all.
@@boomshakalaka8567 that’s true. But it’s important to note that he did opt out and only agreed to the deal after the Yankees refused to add a 5th year. Not the same as never opting out at all

Scott only understands the business side of the sport from the player's perspective.
He used to be way more objective but I think being around players nonstop has warped his perspective

@ yeah it’s definitely a little too black and white and I hate when people act like the millionaire players are victims

Scott one of your partners needs some rest. Its worse today than it was yesterday... Enjoying your offseason content. 👍
I like to call has done for the Yankees, but I think it’s a mistake to sign him to an extension.
He didn't sign an extension. He kept the same deal he had.
He didn't sign an extension. He essentially did NOT opt out. He's on the same deal.
Did Boras do the opt out on his own and then Cole found out about it?
Cole would take a cut for the Yankees to get another party including Soto

Yankees should let him go.
Get Rosenthal off the network, he’s awful
Haters will hater! Why so mean?
I disagree, I think he’s fantastic
He’s way better than everyone else here
The yankee hater channel
Where was the hate?
Ken Rosenthal is awful
How so?
He did opt out Ken Rosenthal don't know what he is talking about
Pay attention. The first words out of Rosenthal's mouth were: "He opted out." Kenneth Taylor don't know what he is talking about.
He didn't though
@@boomshakalaka8567yes he did
